This CD blew my mind when I bought it in 88. The skin color had nothing to do with it. It was how good the band was and still is. Been a huge fan ever since. Desperate People is one of the best tracks I have ever heard on any album from any artist. Vernon Reid is just plain filthy as a guitarist and Corey Glover can out vocalize just about anybody out there. No surprise that he once toured in Godspell.
Absolutely agree! Saw them back in late 80's at a small venue called 'Janus Landing' in St. Petersburg, FL. And I have been to 100's of concerts and that one has always stood out as one of the best.
first cd I ever owned, played this shit all damn day and night...one of the reasons i play guitar....this guy Reid is out of his mind sick, plays on a scalloped fretboard...shit!
@Rectanglectum Vernon Reid has been one of my top influences since I started playing in 1989. Vernon Reid is awesome. He was collab'ing with Robert Fripp in the mid90s. What a combo!
Way 2 go, man. Thx for posting this. I totally forgot what a KICKASS group they were...drummer, guitar, the entire package. So unique.
This is likely the first time I've heard this tune and realised what a 'live' feel they got on this one.
I'm one of the few musicians I know that actually would name them as an influence, not that that matters a shit....who cares where you 'got it', so long as you do it, right? But their sense of groove....man....
Vivid is my all time classic..This guys RULES!!!!!!!!
