What prevents the charging handle from just falling off? Every vid I've seen of a 556 takedown just show the user pulling the handle straight out. Wouldn't it be too easy to lose that thing?
@CDMJDMHHC If you have the Class III Paperwork done to make an SBR... then yes. Very easily. But if you don't have the paperwork done - its a very easy FELONY to do so.
Any chance of posting a video showing how to remove the hand guards or gas tube? I rotated my gas tube counter clockwise to the left as the manual stated, but it's stuck. It won't spin back and it won't come out.
Damn, I thinking about purchasing this or the 16" rifle version. I never shot a 10.5 barrel gun in a rifle cartridge. I do understand its loud though and having to shoot in a defensive situation will probably make me deaf.
Very nice. very simple. I've been looking at the Kel-Tec PLR, how does this compare? I am leaning toward this because I think it can take more abuse and I like the bolt.
I really want to get this gun(never owned a firearm) but the cleaning aspect scares me. I afraid I'll screw up the gun. So as that all thier is to the gunwhen you strip it down?? Seems pretty easy
That's pretty much what I meant. Liscense, Stamp... whatever you want to call it... it's your butt in a sling if you do it without getting the paper that says you can.
Got the 550 Army version....and must of shot god knows how many 1000 rounds without a single incident. If you maintain it properly, it will never let you down. ;-)
Let me answer this again: The pistol was pretty much put as a vehicle to build an SBR out of... all you have to do is take the end cap off and screw on the stock. Done. It's faster to do than it is to explain.
It begs for suppression. The rifling in the SIG 556 series is mostly 1 in 7, which is good for the heavier 68 grain loads. Which means it's for serious work. So is the action. This gun just needs a hush-can and a shoulder stock.
Sweet gun. Nice video.

I like it! You can aim only through the front sight and use it as a little burp gun for home defense : D

@theshawner There is a spring loaded latch to keep the pin in. Go look at one of these rifles close up. It's quite secure.

Could you put a stock on the sig 556 pistol to make a small carbine?

@MadOgre The government committed a felony when they took a shit on the constitution and made up the SBR gun law.

The Kel-Tec is a good piece... nothing wrong with it at all... but the SIG blows it away.
MadOgre 2 years ago
What kind of range do you get on that?
YouMockMe 2 years ago
Hits to 400 yards.
MadOgre 2 years ago
With that short of a barrel?... when you say "hits" what is the grouping like?
YouMockMe 2 years ago
Hits on a steel plate... 400 yards away. Not exactly going all the way out there to measure them.

Good enough. Thanks man.

What's the legality on buying the pistol and putting a stock on it? Do you have to register the weapon as an SBR because you put a stock on it?
shastadude13 2 years ago
Contact your local Class 3 dealer for details specific to your area, but generally, yes. You need to get the SBR license for that.

I clean mine with MPRO-7 Cleaner and lube it with Tetra's synthetic gun oil. It's never failed. Ever.

Piston head is full of burned carbon. Check also the inside bottom ring of the gas valve.

Good mechanism; bad caliber-barrel length combination.

I'd like something like the sig556 in 7.62x25. Have it run off PPsh type mags. It'd be straight blow-back, like the SIg-oid SMG that Chile uses.
Baal616 2 years ago
I'd have one of those too. Make one and I'll buy it.
