Crowd scanning is only safe if you understand how to calculate the mpe (Maximum permissible exposure) Its a very complex calculation and there are many variables to take in to account, unless you know what you are doing, best to scan above the crowd.
I would never scan a laser into someones eye, even a tunnel effect. I am not qualified to do that, and if you plan on getting one of these bad boys. I would suggest avoiding direct crowd scanning, you will blind someone with this product, play safe scan no lower than about 2m.
@paul30003 ok thanks for the advice , and im taking it , i dont want to be sued , but if you look on my channel , my laser is quite a bit less powerful , still not risking it though
The Kam DMX 40Fscan is a nice little laser, but even at 40mw, its still a class 3b laser which could damage your eye's
Ive got one of those lasers myself. Ive got a demo of it on my other youtube account "fxlasers" running alongside a homemade 100mw red laser plus a couple with static 60mw green lasers, I would never use static beams in a public show though, they are the most dangerous in my opinion.
um, im kinda a newb and have no idea what a laser is used in conjunction with, do you connect it to your mixer of laptop or let it go through its own thing like it just was? What are the all the ports in the back used for?
@PlatypusWrestler Those lasers have usually 3 or 4 modes being: Sound To Light / Demo (shows some figures in a row), DMX, ILDA. If you use Sound2Light or the Demo-Mode you don't need anything in addition to the laser device. If you use DMX, you'll need a DMX-mixer or a DMX Software for you PC. Then you can control things like the size of the pattern and you can select from a variety of pre-defined patterns and images.
@PlatypusWrestler If you use ILDA, you'll need a ILDA software and a special USB to ILDA interface. With that software you can "paint" anything you like. From "Happy Birthday, Chris" over "DJ XYZ in tha house" to a dancing girl or a rising sun... Really antything that's not too complex. Else the image flickers and that's usually not pretty.
There are only 2 ports really. DMX and ILDA. Each as In and Out (DMX: normal daisychain, ILDA: If you have 2 (identical) lasers but only one interface)
If you are pointing this toward a crowd I think it would make sense to have the very bottom of where the beams will go about 3-4 feet higher than the crowd. It would look good and you wont have problems.

@paul30003 ok cool
