  • when did it happen? and yeah you! it would be to late for you to get to a safe place!

  • Was this satellite TV?

  • @coffeeandsugar20 This was regular analog cable.

  • @Demache92 So you're saying that on the TV guide channel that it just has the black ticker, but it has the full black screen on the other channels?

  • @coffeeandsugar20 Pretty much. That's how they have always had it set up. Channel 6 has always been the channel they use for emergency information (probably because any TV can tune to it). It will run the ticker the entire time. On the other channels, it goes to a full black screen, then it usually disappears after the warning message runs through.

I'll have to see if I can record during another alert this summer with it going through the channels. They may have changed it some too with digital

  • The one for Florida is just plain SCARY! It has more of a deeper voice.

  • Oh noez

  • the thing i dont get is that arn't you in those states and if yes why arn't you taking cover!!!!!

  • The national weather service issued a tornado warning for your face XD

  • E3 2008 haha sweet

  • Is this the warning from the system that hit the Scout Camp in Sioux Falls?

  • @Askerban No, this was a different one. The scout camp one happened on June 11, and this was on July 19.

  • Is this the tornado that hit the Scout Camp?

  • Flood.

    It was here.

  • derp

  • ohhh the eas has been breaking in "who wants to be a millionare" for a long time

  • That's our Tom! Sounds like spring/summer!

  • they give all these warnings and it never happens, they usaly happen when their is no warning, my city always during the summer has these warning and they nerver happen and when their is no warning, their is always a severe storm and then they had the warning 10 minutes after, was their heavy rain that night?

  • The worst part is when this comes on night and it sounds like the voice is saying gibberish, it sounds like a fucking mass murderer.

  • at the end of the message- that guy goes ruh

  • I never understand this. Whenever we have a rare tornado warning in my town, we never get the EAS alerts or scroll bars. The only way to see the warning is at the bottom of the screen on TWC and local news channels. Anyone know why? Is it because I live in CT and we rarely get tornados?

  • @rbjplay13 But I do get the required weekly test scroll bars on the screen. It's really strange.

  • And Denzel is silenced

    1:27

  • when do they put the tornado warning example an hour before

  • They purposely make it scary so you'll actually pay attention and not die ;)

  • is it real? its nice. tht sounds real. good video.

  • @7TrainExpress It most definitely is real.

  • lol they wanna tell u rite then and there HEY HEY DONT F**K WITH US IF WAIT TO SEE IT COMMING AND U THINK WE ARE LYING TO U UR GONNA DIE MUTHAF*KA!

    lol sorry for that

  • @yoshi9891 LOL

  • You are lucky, on my TV, its cuts to a sperate channel

  • @boobidee Mine too. It usually cuts to the home shopping channel and then to the EAS. If the TV suddenly cuts to the shopping channel, I usually scramble to find the remote to turn the volume down before the tone starts. Haha.

  • On my Cable, a silent message appears.

  • "EXTREAME" Lyon county?

  • In the UK (Scotland) we don't have anything like this, but watching and listening to that tone is scary stuff! I'd hate the thought being in the house at night alone then that comes on :S scary!

  • @

    denelson83

Yes I realized that after posting that comment.

  • I saw this alert the day it happend! But it wasn't from were the tornado was.

  • I remember this storm...... It killed four young boy scouts :(

  • That voice freaks me out. It is the same in Oklahoma and also when I lived in Illinois. That time of the year is coming up and I am ready for it!

  • Its the same voice in south central wisconsin too!

  • You guys are lucky you don't have the sound they use in California.

  • I wonder if they used a downloaded voice pack for the voice, it sounds like the voice of the American English Male on Xtranormal.

  • I've never been afraid of the EAS... I always get excited if it says a "Severe Thunderstorm Warning" or seldomly, "Tornado Warning". I just love severe weather...

  • lol , me too

  • Am I the only one NOT creeped out by the EAS?

    Nice video capture, btw.

  • @EASvideocreator I hate it too

  • I do when they catch me off guard! Lol.

  • i used to have nightmares about these lol!

  • @HelloNewYorkCity LOL. NYC!

  • I rarely do. There should be a horror movie about EAS :-p called "EAS"

  • hey is this the one that killed the four boy scouts??

  • *gasps* It might be!

  • @Demache92 Yes that error means the storm was strong enough to disrupt the satellite signal, usually cable company gets their feeds from a c-band dish(not old analog c-band, but commercial supplied digital c-band feeds), which means that the storm was strong enough to knockout the signal on a large dish, not pizza pan size like Dish Network or DirecTV, but a BUD(Big Ugly Dish).

  • I think the reason the screen keeps shifting is because the box is trying to go to the EAS Title Screen, but it's malfuctioning and so the scroll-bar at the top of the screen is all you see of it. lol

  • @Geno2733: Actually, that's on purpose. Channel 6 (this channel) and 11 (local classifieds) are designated not to ever be blacked out. Every other channel is blacked out with the EAS black screen, and if you have a cable box, it overrides any user input and forces you to watch the warning. They were there because they will always have the black bar on those channels during a warning providing information, when other channels will go on as normal.

  • Also the picture was jumping because I believe they were having satellite issues. All the Turner channels (TBS, Cartoon Network, TCM) all displayed "Satellite # not found - attempting to acquire signal" errors or something like that in green text. I had those recorded too but I deleted them a long time ago. The storm must have been messing with the streams. Or the storm was shaking the cable lines enough cause the picture to bounce.

  • actually, I use a straight-up cable to the back of my upstairs TV Set (no box), and it forces me to watch the warning there too. It actually loads a lot faster than when the warnings show on the Digital box.

  • XD I JUST got one of these for A TORNADO WARNING! I was playing Kirby Super Star Ultra and heard the SAME tones and said loudly, " That ain't a test I hear!" and I went upstairs to check and well, General Hospital was on upstairs and I go up and hear something National Weather Service something. Then it stopped, and the news cut in. Unfortunatly, I didn't have my camera with me. We are suffering from the El Nino storm, and it STINKS. =(

  • This is really creepy, yet cool. I wish we had these, but where I live, it's EXTREMLEY rare for bad whether to happen. Also, that beep gets me every time. ;(

  • The Blinking Blackouts on the TV Meant that the Signal is over reacting to the storm and a funnel is nearby

  • your cable company doesn't have their encoder set up properly...thus why you hear the two tones, it should just play one tone and the message instead it plays the encoders tone and the SAME tone

  • You mean at 0:11 ?

I don't know. Its always done that for as long as I remember. I think our radio stations do it as well. That's weird. I always thought the third tone was normal.

  • @Demache92 That 3rd tone is normally broadcasted on Weather Radios. Whenever a weather related alert is issued they always use the NOAA weather radio transmission audio.

  • @WinterWeatherII Actually, the first tone (853 Hz + 960 Hz) is the commercial broadcast station attention signal, while the second tone (1050 Hz) is the NOAA Weather Radio attention signal.

  • @WinterWeatherII Actually, the tone at the beginning was the old Emergency Broadcast System attention signal, not the SAME header tone. The tone after the EBS signal was the 1050Hz NOAA warning alarm, but you are right: it is one tone and the emergency bulletin.

  • @WinterWeatherII what theyre doing is using the noaa weather radio report for this emergency

  • Comment removed

  • I wish we had that 3rd tone before the messages for warnings and tests

  • " I have no idea why the video keeps shifting. The cable company kept having satellite errors earlier that day. ... "

My theory...the tornado might have something to do with that...just a thought...

  • Nope. No tornado came even 20 miles near our city. The storm itself did have something to do with it obviously.

  • Its radaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrr. ROFL.

  • I'm not sure what gets me the most, the digital bursts, the tone, or the computer-generated voice! BRR! Though, now that I moved out of the Midwest and to the West coast, I kinda miss these!

  • When a local station in my area activates the EAS the audio completely mutes and shows the info on a red bar on top of the screen. When the cable system activates it, I think it goes to public acess chaneel 15 and shows a full-screen text screen witha black background and text theat looks like the text a VCR shows on screen.

  • i swear i get this feeling everytime i hear that tone somthing very bad is going to happen

  • that means its working

  • I have an unusual deathly fear of the Emergency Broadcast system.... -_-

  • god i feel the same exact way

  • I think at least two-thirds of people in this country have that sort of fear, myself included.

  • @claracrazy2008 yeah when The EMS comes on my heart races and beats faster i have a fear of that

  • @claracrazy2008 Is it the EAS header which is the three ehrehreeh things at the beginning, or the whole thing?

  • @drummerdo0od The whole thing scares me. :/

  • The SAME Headrer Bursts are those 3 tones you hear right as the warning comes on. They actually contain encoded information about the emergency used only by the brodcaster.

  • @claracrazy2008 i know how u feel everytime i hear it on the radio i start covering my ears i HATE tHEM

  • @claracrazy2008 me too

  • @claracrazy2008 me too

  • @claracrazy2008 really i do to

  • @claracrazy2008 man i hear ya.i get scared as heck.

  • goooooddnneeeess!!!!!

every time i hear that damn beep,

    i freak the hell out!

    and turn it down

    soooooo freakin creepy sound,

    and voice :0

  • the sound is the same beep over diffrent frequencys that are very annoying to humans. thats why they use it. it gets your atention. but your not sapose to turn it down

  • I like how the EAS tone is playing while they show a picture of Frank from Donnie Darko.

  • mee too lol

  • i wish we had more tornadoes in maryland :(

  • NO U DONT TRUST ME!!!!!

  • it would fun to chase a twister

  • i hate that beeb so damn much

  • TORNADO ON THE GROUND is my catchphrase

  • I get shivers from these warning, I actually like tornadoes

  • yeah same with me and thunderstorms here in maine

  • good thing im not the only 1 scared shitless of these damn things

  • Hey, little bear is on

  • that voice scares the hell out of me.

  • i know huh!

  • That noise scares the shit out of me.

  • i dont have cable so i don't get to see these :(

  • This summer, I will get some more on here. I'm sure we are bound to have some more severe weather.

  • That EAS tone scares me.

  • Me to. I live in Indiana and we get them a lot...one time it went off in the middle of the night, and we don't have a basement, so my mom made me and my little sister go into the closet with a mattress. Scary stuff....

    The Lesson:

Mother nature does in fact, PMS. XD

  • We live in California. Imagine vacationing in Tennessee, and during your vacation, there is the super Tuesday tornado outbreak. SCARY AS SHIT!

  • LOL!

  • Lol indeed.

  • it gives me a mega headache

  • i hate these things, it sounds like the end of the world. And do they have to take up the whole screen?! (In georgia) why cant they do a bar like they do there?

  • It really depends on depends on the cable company. Sometimes they blank out the entire screen only showing text and override the cable box controls but for some reason they didn't that day. I suppose it wasn't in our immediate area so they might have decided it wasn't as critical to blank the screen.

  • yea its the cable company that works on the display. Over here in NY i have cablevision(ftw lol) and the enitre screeen isnt covers with red and white, just a banner on top but audio mutes.

  • Its so wierd how the weather in NH has been like wierd. Have you heard that first tornado to ever touch in NH killed only one person! (its not because it was small its because its summer!everyones at six flags! Kinda like I was at the time! My house is still good because the tornado was a half mile from my house lol)

  • is that time warner cable thats tv guide! omg i have dat! lol

  • this is creeeppy ._. i just think the computerized voice seems wicked creepy in this .. thanks for uploading though ;)

  • Yeah the computerized voice creeps me out too.

  • *shivers* scary :P

  • i was there and idk wat u ppl are saying

  • whats your cable company

  • Midcontinent Communications

  • cable one also transmitts the eas on tv guide (channel formerly prevue guide) but they cover up the screen with white text letters and tv guide playing in the background with eas audio

  • the stability problem probably was their EAS equipment kept interrupting the satellite signals.
