If it causes antiIslamic behavior or compels people to do haraam things like drugs, killing, dancing, etc. Music would not be recomended if it takes away from one's ability to act in accordance with Islam and remember Allah (s.w.t.). Rap is poetry, but fit to a rythmic beat. Everything can be bad/good.

Music is not haram as long as it doesnt have any sinful lyrics in it. Prophet Muhammad allowed singers in Eid, that shows its not haram. Anything haram shouldnt be allowed in any circumstances. But Freeway's music is actually haraam. There are some bad lyrics in it.

@wayofsalaf The hadith says music will be widespread, but not that it is haraam. To my knowledge music is haraam IF: 1. If the lyrics are false (because rumors/backbiting, gheebat, is haraam). 2. If it causes antiIslamic behavior or compels people to do haraam things like drugs, killing, dancing, etc. Music would not be recomended if it takes away from one's ability to act in accordance with Islam and remember Allah (s.w.t.). Rap is poetry, but fit to a rythmic beat. Everything can be bad/good.

@wayofsalaf That's right those are times of the end, but it just clearly says that. It doesn't say listening to Music is equivalent to adultery, murder, or alcohol. In a time where more Muslims are not practicing their deen, I think there are more important things for a Muslim to work on rather than listening to Music. Also there are some Music myself I stay away from such as modern hip-hop, some of the new Persian, or Bollywood, songs, etc. Even music not good anymore.

It's hard to live a life without music, to have a bit entertainment in life, to enjoy life, and be away from salat and quran once and a while. I read in the hadiths, that's true. But I know some sheiks that say its a sin and I know some scholars who are even against working out or sports. That is radicalism to me, and things like that turn people away from Islam, even Muslims themselves who say their Muslim but don't practice.

Music is not haram as long as it doesnt have any sinful lyrics in it. Prophet Muhammad allowed singers in Eid, that shows its not haram. Anything haram shouldnt be allowed in any circumstances. But Freeway's music is actually haraam. There are some bad lyrics in it.

People need to look at the bigger picture, for alot of people it is via music Islam becomes available to alot of people. If people believe in Allah and his messenger through music we should be promoting it as a way of dawah. The music discouraged in the sunnah is that which promotes sin such as zina and alochol. Not this. Muslims need to expand our methods of dawah if we want the wider public to understand Islam.
