thanks a lot really. I really love this song and my dad. 2 of my favorite songs are my dad and mama by BJ Thomas. dad in 87 and mom in 99. they will live forever. I tell my youger about them all the time.
Paul I used to watch Donna Reed every night with My Dad. I was 16 when you first recorded this song. My Father and I sat and watched together. I will never forget I turned to my Dad and said that's you too Dad. He's gone now but never forgotten. You look and sound as wonderful as you did when we were young thanks for the memories.
Paul, what a wonderful video! What wonderful memories this song brings back..:) If I am not mistaken, that beautiful opening guitar was non other than Glen Campbell (In the original studio recording).
I'll never forget hearing this song on the radio for the first time.I knew immediately that it was meant for my OWN DAD,what a man! Gone 18 yrs ago today. Can it really be that long? Sometimes seems a lifetime since I last saw this terrific guy, always my 1st love in my life.
@TheBabyboomkidof53 amen, back when Men were Men, when Family mattered, raise a glass to the ol' days my friend, keep the faith, keep those cherished memories, pass them to your children, by the way i was born in 1959, i wish i could join you during that time of innocence, and a new beginning
I remember fondly the TV episode where this first appeared.I've never seen this recent performance till now.I loved it-raw emotion-great song. Thanks for doing this Paul and thanks to whoever posted it!
Its too beautiful for words, to even express the feelings that come over me every time I hear this song or see the older version in 62, or the one done in 2009. My Aunt never missed an episode of Donna Reed. (she's 69 now) , but the night this episode was aired was the one episode she missed, which was on Oct. 25th 1962. That night she was sitting by my uncle's bedside as he was dying that night of Leukemia. ( I was only 3 yrs old then) they were only married 4 yrs. and had 2 sons. GB Peter :)
I lost my Dad 16 years ago and I still cry at least 100 times a day.
He was my Hero, My fishing buddy and the best friend a girl could ever have.
I can't wait to see him again-It's my belief that I will, sometimes it's the only thing that keeps me hanging on. We might not have had a lot of money growing up--But
I was a Billionaire from the Love that I recieved from my Wonderful Dad.
Thank you, Jeff Stone, for reminding us how very important is our dad. It is moving to hear Paul Petersen sing it as an older gent in memory of his show dad and in 1962 as well. I don't remember crying as hard as a 12 year old, but can't stop crying now at 60.
We live in the past because it was such a time of care free time and the life and music was the best.We only have to see this song by Paul and realize how much we have changed over so many years. Well one Paul.We are still kids inside. yr great.
Wow! That was amazing. Paul Petersen is a real treasure and should be recognized for all the great work he is doing these days. This song should get more exposure to the younger generations who are hungry for the touch of their fathers. Thanks oktog32 for posting it and thank you Paul Petersen for doing this "encore" of that wonderful song.
Thank you Paul, you've still got it. So glad you were the one who originally recorded this song. I can't imagine anyone else doing it. Happy Father's Day. Thank you oktogo32. This was a rare treat.
mkc...this song is so touching, My sons' lost their Dad a years ago in Aug.2009. Its emtional every time I hear it. Just love to hear it over and over again. It brings the closeness that I lost near to me.
you still sing great

Man, I remember watching the original show with my family where he sang this song back in 1960. There was not a dry eye in the house.

Paul that was beautiful. I know it was for your t.v. dad Carl Betz and for your own dad.
There is a special place in heaven for you for all the good you've done for all of the other child stars. God Bless You.
