  • Does anyone know if I can find these episodes online somewhere?

  • @MxMorningstarXx Sure, on cbc.ca

    cbc.ca/doczone/8thfire//2011/11/indigenious-in-the-city

  • My comment gets deleted..WTF? Must've been Kinew hiding the truth.

  • my forefathers have been here for 500 years, at least the white ones...I have this huge question how many Canadians are white/native vs how many are native/white?...just think about it, I have seen blondes at pow wow's living on a reserve ... I think wow I am as native looking as any of these but my parents chose to identify white, so I am white? I can't see anyone having more rights to be Canadian than anyone else...if we say we have first nations, then europeans are also first nations as well!

  • @lucy9359 first nations are still marginalized in main stream society. you know then ,right?

  • @interstellarwonder...I don't believe it is for real...I know Natives who are lawyers and doctors how did they get there? what did they do it seems to me they did the same thing that all other doctors or lawyers did they went to school for it..There are Natives who are sucsessful in business as well...the marginalization is not about individuals it is about wanting the culture maintained and not integrated into society...so no Natives are not marginalized their culture is!

  • @lucy9359 your full of shit

  • @interstellarwonder that is easy to say it doesn't take any thought for you to come to that conclusion...you don't have to search your soul or use your mind....

  • @lucy9359 now your just being judgemental, i was saying ,your full of it, Y? because your trying to disconnect native ppl from their culture? R U serious? I think you should " search your soul or use your mind". good day to you.

  • @interstellarwonder now your into assumption on my motivation in making my statement...I was pointing out that you have the oppurtunity as an individual to go forward in this Country...in fact I as a non status person in this Country had to pay back my student loans you as a Native get paid $250 a month just to stay in high school and after wards can go to college for free.....then you have aboriginal status on a job application form to claim as another benifit ...continued

  • @lucy9359 you there for have more rights to sucseed in the system if your willing to go ahead and do it...so I will point out again that Natives are not marginalized their culture is...If you wish to maintain your culture that is not a Canadian issue it is a Native issue...no other culture in this Country exspects or recieves government support to maintain their cultural identity...that should be your own responsibilty...wanting equal rights for all is not judgemental...

  • @lucy9359 I am not denying that you have a battle to fight your way out of nor am I claiming that you were not culturally oppressed at one point in time...but I am going to deny that the ball is still rolling against you...I am fully persuaded that every last person can defy their limitations and go forward in this Country because we all have limitations to over come it is a matter of whether you will embrace what is available to you or not..

  • @lucy9359 whatever your motive is, i would not trust you, even to watching my dog, or cat.

  • @interstellarwonder good you shouldn't trust strangers, none the less don't ask the world to build you a culture instead go out and do what you need to do to make your life work regardless of your limitations, use the system and go for all you can, make your own world a better place find your own beauty within instead of exspecting anyone else to listen to why you can't! Terry Fox wouldn't be a national hero, if he thought like the majority....

  • Love the way it is discussed and hope that it helps with healing, understanding, vision, anger, proactive movement and a healthy indigenous peoples. @ williethewino, i get you think you had no choice in where you were born and don't believe you have done or are doing anything wrong. It is this type of mindset that drives indigenous people. Thank you for your fuel. For without such overt comments it can be harder to describe the racism that is felt by us as indigenous peoples.

  • well it sounds good from what Ive seen to bad theres still alot of ignorance iin 2012

  • this looks like a great doc, hope I get the opportunity to watch the whole thing.

  • I worked on that Wuskwatim dam.

  • OMG! These people are delusional. We are not going to fuck off, we are STILL trying to right the wrongs perpetuated on the Indian people, both in Canada and America and we WILL NOT fuck off. I'm so sick of these people telling us to "get a life," and the "it's our land now" mentality. Don't you "white" people even realize the sickening things that were done to the North American Indian? If the white squatters would have embraced the Indian, don't you think think this world would be a better place

  • @ITSONLYMEWATCHING The time to embrace is here hope and reconciliation is now.
