this amp will crank very loud and stay clean even with a 4x12cab its awesome.I've had a blues Divellel tweed 4x10and Hot rod divelle 4x10years now.the clean tones this amp can achieve are amazing. The gain is nice for old blues or even some classic rock.It can not achieve metal with out help.A tube over drive or a nice boutique OD will push this amp over the edge into the metal realm. Its re verb sounds cheap imo it tends to take over the sound even at 2 so i use pedals for a more classic re verb
FINALLY , ive figured out how to crank this amp into overdrive , at bedroom volumes :D , without any attenuation, just unplug the internal speaker input and plug the wire you just unplugged into the external output , you get about 5 watts instaid of 60 , and if you crank the volume knob , you get a nice creamy natural overdrive !
@13Musicmachine Wow, that sounds pretty complicated. All you have to do is set it on the drive channel with the master volume down and the gain up high. It'll drive as much as you want and the Master Volume will make it as quiet as you want.
@13Musicmachine Check with Fender to make sure that is ok for the amp. For tube amps especially, playing without a speaker plugged in is like pedaling a bike hard without a chain...it will wear you out REAL fast.
I'm not claiming to be an expert. I just suggest you check with Fender.
@XjohnfishX Break up occurs between 4 and 5, but this is a 60 watt tube amp & it's super f*ing loud at breakup. Unless you are playing in a really loud rock band, you'll probably want something a little lower wattage in the fender line for that classic Fender power tube saturation tone (deluxe reverb, blues jr.). Ever try and make a twin reverb breakup through power tube saturation? This is pretty close to the same volume.
Have malfunctioning Deville 410.. after turning it way up (to 8) the sound is quiet and a weird distorted tone even on clean channel. confirmed not power tubes (replaced with new) and not speakers as identical problem when connected exclusively to a seperate speaker cabinet. something like a capacitor maybe? but no visible signs on the components or their solder joints.
I know if I take it in theyll charge me $200 (the bastards) its barely worth $400 (10 yrs old) any suggestions welcome
@FletcherHabit My Deville duked out on me after changing the three year old Cheapteks in them with really nice JJ tubes, the tubes are still fine, but for some unknown reason that my tech can't figure out, it's broken. He spent weeks trying to figure it out and finally ended up ordering new parts from Fender and now he just recently underwent heart surgery and is recovering at home. The amp has been without me for almost two months....does that suck or what lol. I miss it so much!!
@FletcherHabit Dude...I finally got my amp back after two whole months and....it rocks! :D The technician ordered new parts from Fender and now it works like brand new. Mine is five years old and a year after playing on it the distortion stopped working which prompted me to buy my first pedal ever, but now the distortion works so it's completely fixed through and through. It cost me 130 bucks and they gave me two free string packs for waiting two months, but it works and sounds better than ever.
From what I'v heard by comparing the 2x12 and the 4x10, the 4x10 has a more looser, midrange tone. The 2x12 seems to sound tighter, more deep tone. I ended up buying the 2x12 verson, but i suggest you demo both of them side by side.
One of the best amps out there for blues. I got mine of ebay for 400$ and it is amazing! It really gets those SRV, BB King, to Slash and Angus Young tones
I have a question. I've been thinking about getting one of these amps and I ussually play alternative and it seems to suit that type of music but I alos enjoy playing more progressive stuff and some metal.Sort of Coheed and Cambia-ish. Will it do that to? Or is this just not a metal amp at all?
Coheed used Marshalls back around Second Stage Turbine Blade but now they use Mesa's Bogner and Fender. I suppose I could get a metal type pedal for the heavier stuff. I don't like that the Deville has a shared EQ between the clean and overdriven channels though...
@guitardaze Bro this reverb is at about 2, maybe 3. You should see it on 10. It's so deep, incredible reverb. Only fender make a spring reverb like this. Incredible!
i want this amp soo bad! I have a marshall mg 15dfx right now. it's not bad, but i just joined a band and im afraid the amp im using won't sound good when im playing live shows.
Wow, it seems like the world is turned around here. Normally people are praising tube amps, and I couldn't agree more. So what is this shit? This amp is lovely.
MGs, the first ones that is, are awesome! i love the lead tones they give, very Smooth and Thick. they are great for starters, but i really want to move up to this DeVille soon!
all these people complaining about tube amps must be serious amateurs... tube amps are the industry standard... the bottom line is this amp is an unbelievable amp... thousands of professional musicians turn to this amp and amps like it to play small- medium sized gigs... so anyone who's arguing that they don't like tube amps because they are unreliable or shitty alternatives to solid state amps clearly has no fuckin clue what they're talking about.
If you guys have had that many tube amps and all of them went bad..... sounds like the problem is you. There is special care involved when owning a "tubed" piece of equipment. V V V V V V V V

Ya I can help you dont buy a tube amp, they sound great but quility control SUCKS, Ive had hundreds of tube amp, and they all needed service within 30 days of buying them, BOOGIE amps are the worst, marshall is a close second...Its really a shame too..
okay listen up, there is no way in hell that you had hundreds of tube amps and they all needed to be fixed. please don't waste space with stupid comments. and learn how to take care of somthing before you buy it.
ive had this amp for 11months and play it for 2 hours twice a week. and all the sudden it cut out on me. wtf happen with this piece of shit. i only play it 2 days a week for 2 hours and the fuckin thing cut out on me. can someone help me
I'm not sure if its a universal thing, but on my mesa I would recommend switching on the power first but leaving it on stand by for even just a minute. The fuse most likely blows because of the sudden surge of energy being generated. By leaving it on standby the amp gets a chance to ready itself. Thats a kind of standard piece of care in maintaining a valve amp. Hope this helps
Ok I'm kinda new on this tube stuff so I have a couple of questions...
One of my power amp tubes has gone so I want to change it, do I have to change both of those tubes even if the other works fine? If I put the same kind of tube (6l6) but from a different brand (My Deville has standard GT's) like EHX or Svetlana or whatever, do I have to re bias the amp?
Maybe those are stupid questions but I dont know the answer so any information will help

yeah i just got mine saturday!! i love it!! i've got the best vintage rock n roll tone on it. like if you listen to the "plastic ono band live peace in toronto" album. it sounds just like that album. Ill post a video one of these days of me playin on it!
I have this amp, and I may be in a minority of "one" but I find the reverb just too puddly!

How high can you turn the volume before it distorts on the clean channel?

What you fail to realize is that these beasts have such deep reverb. In this video the knob was only up to 2 and a half.
