im fairly new to PG playthroughs.. but what is the importance of being zombified for this?

OMG! stupid zombie's stop wasting my elixirs :( I once again used a method I just came up with; I waited untill one of the Zombies used either Roulette (on themselves) or Melt (I encountered 2 Zombies) then I just killed off 2 of my characters and hoped the last Zombie to use Melt on the last character I had and not on Zidane.

I just reseted because I just couldn't bear to waste an elixir :( I revived Vivi and healed Zidane with a peridot since he had nothing to do then used flee saving myself an elixir. Took a few seconds longer than your/atomos' method but atleast i got to keep my elixir!

Phoenix Down = Slight chance of insta-kill

Elixir = 100% chance of insta-kill

Elixir>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Phoenix Down

And aside from killing the undead, Elixirs are nearly useless in a level one game, Phoenix Downs are more useful to save for your own needs :P

You don't buy them... You get at least 20 during the game, so using up 5 or so in the Iifa Tree isn't going to hurt anybody. It's not like you ever need one for healing anyway.

He misses some other treasures though too, like on Alexandria Docks...but he'll still get S treasure hunter rank so it's not really provable that he missed em...unless he has a vid where he missed em : P, still a perfect game IMO, though.
