  • why not just take kung fu for 10 and turn your hand INTO a knife ?

  • Awesome job, inspiring

  • wow...great job

  • i thought you were gonna cut your leg lol.. Anyway awesome work man

  • love that convex

  • Great Job! A persons first hand made knife is something that always stays with you and holds fond memories, no matter how in depth one gets in knife making. It's truly something special.Take care of it and it will take care of you :)

  • Nice work my respect

  • Nice work Guy :)

  • nice

  • really nice knife. My respect for making it without powertools. How long did you need to make it

  • I have started a knife myself as of just a few week ago, drop point/ plain edge/ at the moment convex edge - will be double bevel from mystery rusty steel plate. (practice knife)

I grounded mines btw, that left an uneven surface. Filing as much as you did, man that's a great portion of pain there and not to mention the sand part too.

Are you willing to share where you learned your gain from?

  • @foodme...check the video description...a few sites to look at...LOTS of info at the bladeforums site, check em out!

    -dilla

  • im trying to make my own knife

  • 6:13 OMG!! he's gonna cut himself! oh, never mind.

  • @ShannaBanana2013 OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought that too so i covered my eyes, but then i realized he was shaving his leg hair :D lol maybe i should of made that shorter XD

  • @0X3haloninja...hehe! check out the sharpness *cuts leg off at knee*...

    -dilla

  • not bad for a first blade, lines on the cutting edge could've been cleaner. False edge on the spine would've been cool also. Not bad at all though, good job!

  • Rough equals cool looking. Excellent job.

  • WOW GOOD FUCKING JOB GUY DONT BE SO MODEST THIS PROCESS IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT TO GET RIGHT THAN MOST PEOPLE WOULD THINK....GREAT JOB KID

  • Hats off to you, buddy. Very nice job. I'm envious.

  • Nice work.

  • If you are stranded somewhere ... and you do need to build yourself a knife for survival ... where do you rent the cutting tools!? :| ...

    Nice knife though - congrats.

  • When you were testing the sharpness and zoomed the camera on your leg i actually thought you were gonna stab yourself!

  • well u could spend about a week making this or u could spend about 20 mins running into town and buying one lol

  • @OSOKninjagang...you cant "buy" this achievement anywhere...sorry to break it to you

  • @minimalistsurvival It's an awesome knife, Making your own from your own hands, amazing. It looks very useful too, not something cheap looking.

  • Sweet, I wanna make one!

  • Good job bro, good music also :)

  • nice blade,,,, what kind of steel you take??? greetings from croatia.......

  • I was not aware that loud rock music was needed for knife making. Kill the tunes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ZeekWolfe1...the first step in successful knife making is loud rock music, everybody knows that! :)

    -dilla

  • Really awesome knife, made even better by the fact it was your own blood sweat and tears that went into it. Cool soundtrack as well, what is it, been goggling the lyrics, but have just coming up empty??

  • @ryan18273 and if you ever put them into production.....I WANT ONE ;)

  • @ryan18273...its actually my old band...i played guitar for Aftermind...the song is called "1 in 5"...

    -dilla

  • @minimalistsurvival Thanks for that, checked out your myspace page, really dig your guys stuff, "the pendulum" is epic. Keep up the awesome work.

    Ryan

  • i thought he was gonna cut the tile off the floor

  • THATS AWESOME ID LOVE TO HAVE ONE!!

  • You did a good job brother. I like that fact there's blood on your finger in one of the pics. They end up biting ya pretty good sometimes, even after you've been doing it a while.

  • Nice, for the heat treatment, how could you tell what the temperature you should quench it at?

    Nice blade.

  • @ZenSpider40...heat until non-magnetic

  • what is the handle made out of?

  • @BadNewsAR15...i made micarta to shape the handles out of...

    -dilla

  • Looks like fun! I see the dartboard in the background. ;)

  • @SurvivalNewsVideo...you didn't know that darts is an integral part of knife making?

    -dilla

  • @SurvivalNewsVideo thanks for the reply

  • BTW, it's a pity they pulled greenpete's knife-making series of 4 vids off youtube. Very informative.

  • Liked! Well done, it's a beautiful knife!

  • that is awesome. I would love to make my own knife. I will definitely have to try. thanks for the video.

  • That is amazing, I may have to try this one day.

  • 4:25 - I see you literally put your blood into it! :D

Other than that, really nice for a first try...have to try one like that myself...

  • super cool!!!!

  • wow when you took the camera to your leg i looked away as i though you were going to stab yourself.

But yeah I have to try and make one of these one day!

    -Indra

  • how long is the knife

  • @IMTHEBOSS720...just over 8 inches in overall length

    -dilla

  • how many stripes of material did you use for your micarts

  • @IMTHEBOSS720...13 each side

    -dilla

  • very good thats a beast knife but i would have staind the grips.

  • i was like oh god is this guy emo or something then he just shaved his leg

  • how did you do the jimping on the spine?

  • @messrsinferno...just used a little rat-tail file...

  • Very nice looking knife

  • would you mind sharing some of the information you got from this mysterious knife maker?

possibly some of the links to resources and where to get the raw material for grinding?

    thanks

  • @duncanbrodie1...links are in the description...

  • My compliments on a beautiful knife! It has really nice lines unlike some of the "blocky" homemade knives you see. I also like the micarta handle material... looks awesome.

  • @PKM9x19...thank you very much

  • now that is cool. usefulness and pride. not to mention a total one off. no one will ever have one just like it.

  • Perfect blade shape to me, one can shape the handle to fit their hand the way they like to grip it.

Pride of making it and it will certainly do anything the high dollar knives to do, but you have the pride of making it.

  • would you make and sell some?

  • Awesome job!

  • outstanding work mate; i like that "it's good for you" to make it by hand lol - might just give it a go. What temperature did u aim for to harden it?

  • @pocobuen...thanks brother! i used 1084 hi-carbon steel, to get a RC hardness of about 59 you need to heat the steel up (in the coals) until its non-magnetic (just try to stick a magnet to it) then quench, i used vegetable oil, then temper in the oven at 400 degrees for about 2 hours, let cool and repeat...hope this helps!

    -dilla

  • crap...going to have to make one....great vid!

  • really nice knife:D

  • Thats a beautiful knife

  • Hey Buddy! You did a great job especially that this is your first one. Making the micarta handle yourself was really cool. When I make it, I alternate OD green cloth and tan cloth. You end up with a cool cammo pattern. I hope you keep making knives!

  • @SugarcreekForge thanks brother!

    -dilla

  • I hand made my first knife too. I like when I have the time to put into a hand made knife, I feel the quality is way better than using machines. That one looks great. Thanks for sharing!
