If you are 3g install sbsettings and reboot ipod, then rejailbreak it WITHOUT RESTORING and when you slide your finger across the top of the screen a drop down menu should appear and one of the icons says respring. now go install winterboard but dont reboot just slide your finger across the top and choose respring

one if i jailbreak my ipod will it mess it up, becuause my friend said it messed up his push notifacations and youtube on his iphone 3g so he had to download something else to get it to work but my other friend said nothing was wrong with his ipod 2nd gen when he jail broke it.

also if i add this vista theme to my ipod (which is a 1st gen 16gb) will it make it slow cuz it looks really complicated.

if im not mistaken, the start menu is just a blank app created using iblank. (or it is in my case) you need to add apps using the "categories" app
