  • My band i are playin this and so far its...ehhh -.- anyway thanks cuz now i know wat to look for and wat to expect in order for us to sound as good as this band and get a 1 :)

  • Wish Euphonium would of came out a bit more at D at his solo in the Intermezzo and the trumpet got a bit happy there too

  • This is the easiest piece i play this year :)

  • Best part, in my opinion, is 3:05 to the end of the first movement :)

  • Best piece for concert band!

  • haha i played this 2 years ago. on euphonium :)

  • A little slow

  • The March started out well, but lost energy and tempo throughout, and was the least well-executed of the 3 movements. Overall, pretty good though.

  • Great work but I agree the second movement was too fast. That trumpet solo needs to sing out above the rest of the band but it tends to get blurred with the rest of the sound.

We are playing this at championships this weekend. I've taken a lazy break and swapped lead trumpet for timpani!!

  • @jonnycake, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we're all very impressed you're a college music major.

  • The Intermezzo really is too fast, this opinion coming from a college student majoring in music. In addition, the Chaconne is too slow. (mm. quarter note = 116 is about right)

  • @jonnycake30, I have to agree with you; the Intermezzo is indeed too fast, regardless of how it may be marked. It after all has to be able to breathe.

The other two movements seem fine; I don't find the Chaconne too slow. I find the March a little slower than the way I usually hear it; nevertheless, for all that, I think it actually works quite well. Personally, I find the March the best movement of the three musically, but that is my own reaction to which others may not agree.

  • @jonnycake30 We agree on the Chaconne. It sleeps a little through the middle at the tempo. about 6 marks to the upside would be perfect. We disagree on the Intermezzo being too fast. Seems in correct character.

  • That is what Vivace means, though...

  • @tjmcmillen

Yup, I think FunkkyPanda is playing it for middle school, which is why it'd be slower.

Intermezzo is fun when it's fast.

  • @concertbandmusic

I love playing the intermezzo fast! It's like my favourite thing to do in any pieces im playing at the moment! The chaconne i havent quite connected though for some reason :/

  • Intermezzo was too fast, its more like a playful song D: but it sounds good for being really fast ^w^

  • could not agree more way too fast on the II....nevertheless go us tenors!!!! ha we played this one last year and i got to be the porud nailer of ze tenor solo :D haha! basoon this year, on numero I....yea...ha we'll see tho...

P.S. I don't like the march all that much... :P

  • Intermezzo was too fast. It's a beautiful melody and it shouldn't be taken that fast.

  • That was really good!!! my high school is playing that piece of music and it's getting there!!

Thank you, I really needed to hear how this piece sounded. And you gave me what I was looking for!

  • No problem! It wasn't my group, but it's the actual recording of the piece from our cd. It's an amazing piece, my band teacher sort of dropped it.... Depressing.
