If it hurt that bad, they pierced the wrong part of your nose. They're supposed to pierce the squishy part right next to the edge of the septum, not farther up where there is thick cartilage. Message to people - just go spend the money to have it done professionally and have them know what the hell they're doing.

I had my septum done three times. First was a not so good atempt, the second a fail, and the third was profesional. My nose was never in any way infected.

As long as anyone has the piercing are clean, and the materials clean you will be fine. i pierced all three of my tongue rings and tongue web and them for a year and 5 months now. i also did all three of my belly rings and nipple and they all are fine and i had them for a while. Its not impossible to do a DIY and not get an infection!!!!! STAMP

I pierced my own septum, by myself, with a safety pin a few weeks ago. It's not as bad as everyone thinks, as long as you're careful, and clean everything properly. I have 6 self piercings, and non of them have ever gotten infected.
Next, time please go to a Professional Piercer Its worth every penny. Take my advice nobody wants a crooked septum or a non sanitary needle being pushed through your nose

Why does everybody say not to pierce the cartilage? Not everybody has a 'sweet spot' and I know my septum was done through the cartilege and yeah, it hurt like hell, but it healed perfectly and I love it.
4: You're probably not a licensed piercer, you shouldn't be piercing your friends or yourself for that matter.
5: There's such thing as MRSAs. Look it up, it can kill you.
A kid almost died after contracting an MRSA. Guess how he got it. He pierced his lip himself. She may be okay after you piercing her, but the next time someone might not be so lucky.

@tmaneez No you arent but in some cases it is a good idea. If you plan on stretching your septum then you want to have it pierced higher into the cartilage instead of the "sweet spot" because once you reach a large gauge it'll droop.
@tmaneez well you can pierce the cartilage in the septum, its called a "high septum" piercing, occasionally, but it's usually done in the sweet spot....im not sure if thats the cartilage you are talking about, but it does exist....and should only be done by professionals....not a friend who bought a hollow needle off amazon.
@tmaneez Despite the stupidity of the technique (lack of gloves or other professional equipment, angling, etc.), you CAN pierce through the cartilage and it is still considered a septum piercing. The placement of the piercing has to do with the anatomy of the person receiving it, in this case, the height of the philtrum and depth of the septum. Some people prefer the piercing to hang lower or higher depending on these variables.
You should really watch what you are doing when doing a piercing. I suggest that next time you do a piercing that you use gloves and actual clamps and watch what you are doing cause you dont want any extra holes.....lol. Other than that, if you want to do piercings go to a shop and ask about an apprenticeship. You will think twice about piercings at home.

I really hope no one follows the poor example shown in this video. I'm glad this girl's piercing didn't get infected, but that is dumb luck.
Anyone who wants any piercing, follow my example:
Go to a reputable piercer at a clean tattoo shop.
Make sure piercer washes hands, wears gloves AND cleans the site to be pierced first.
Watch to ensure that NEW needles & jewelry is used.
Clean the site often per your piercer's instructions.

i kinda think u shoulda worn gloves. i let my friend do 3 piercings in my ear tonight, but we used sterilised needles alcohol wipes used gloves antiseptic spray everything, i think in the future bare hands isnt the right idea.

@dethovagene Theres a "sweet spot" before the really hard cartilage dumbass, that's where a septum piercing is normally placed.

@tmaneez No you arent but in some cases it is a good idea. If you plan on stretching your septum then you want to have it pierced higher into the cartilage instead of the "sweet spot" because once you reach a large gauge it'll droop.

@tmaneez well you can pierce the cartilage in the septum, its called a "high septum" piercing, occasionally, but it's usually done in the sweet spot....im not sure if thats the cartilage you are talking about, but it does exist....and should only be done by professionals....not a friend who bought a hollow needle off amazon.

@tmaneez Despite the stupidity of the technique (lack of gloves or other professional equipment, angling, etc.), you CAN pierce through the cartilage and it is still considered a septum piercing. The placement of the piercing has to do with the anatomy of the person receiving it, in this case, the height of the philtrum and depth of the septum. Some people prefer the piercing to hang lower or higher depending on these variables.

You should really watch what you are doing when doing a piercing. I suggest that next time you do a piercing that you use gloves and actual clamps and watch what you are doing cause you dont want any extra holes.....lol. Other than that, if you want to do piercings go to a shop and ask about an apprenticeship. You will think twice about piercings at home.
