Here is hint that most people don't know, pump up your tires to the maximum on the sidewall during the summer months, and you will see substantial gains and reduced traction. Don't drive like an idiot and you won't get into trouble with the reduced traction, that means cover the brake when approaching intersections and never speed.
This is normal operation dude. All cars get sweet fuel mileage for short periods of time, but the average is what we are looking for. For the record my Scion xA gets the same instant fuel mileage readings on my scangauge II when coasting. I second the placing car in Neutral rather than riding the clutch comment.
It'd do you a world of good to not hold the clutch in, instead, just drop her into neutral. Holding the clutch pedal in puts a world of stress on the throwout bearing, and they aren't easy to replace. Whereas just putting it into neutral and letting the clutch up will not stress the bearing.
This means nothing. so what. In my diesel truck, if i coast down a hill It shows 9999mpg because the injectors shut off.
{So yea when people ask me what milage i get i just tell them 9999mpg, cuz thats what the scangauge says on the "mpg setting". [end of sarcasm]

I've gotten 42mpg average doing a 120 mile round trip, the gauge really helps to watch how much gas I'm using.
