This scene was not funny for me. It might've been funny in a different context for you, but after watching everything that comes before this scene, it was far from funny for me. Firstly, the melee between that German soldier and Pvt. Mellish was extremely disorientating for me, and even more so after I understood what the German soldier is saying (Give up, it's much easier for you this way, you'll see the end, shhhh) You start to realize just how helpless and nauseating war is.
