So you may think that these videos are just a way of him being able to make money from a once sacred tradition, but your wrong, and even is he is it doesn't mean Shaolin is dead and "fake bullshit"

    We are arguing about nothing, Shaolin is extinguished since 1641, the reconstructed tourist temple is about 30 years old, so this pseudo practices and "monks", all commercial bullshit from the last years, using some historical proven NAME to sell everything like this fake Baduanjin frome the video...

    One detail, baduajin never had anything to share with Shaolin, it has some taoist root...

  • ..Yeah if you meditate alot you can control your chi..this is true to me because when i perform board breaking, i was nervous because i was doing in front of a big audience..then i focused more on my chi more..by focusing i started to feel detached from this world for a moment..everything went blank and the only things that existed was me and the boards in front of me, behind me, and next to me...it was like i was in another realm..then i broke all of them and then the room went wild....

  • i practice the horse stance every morning...and i can jump 1 meter (vertical jump)...!!!!

  • @PiinoyAzztig this vid is not "teaching shaolin kung fu" but just the "eight section brocade" that is simply HEALTHY!

    You can't become a "chef de cuisine" specialized in italian or french cuisine watching youtube. But if you watch how to prepare a good "pasta" and practice everyday you'll probably be able to cook a good one after a while... Just it!

  • Another thing this monk should point out is that when you reach out your arms, exhale; when you pull back your arms, inhale. The reason why it is called qigong is that you should breathe correctly along your movement of arms and legs.

  • These Baduanjin movements shouldn't only be physical movements , there should be alot more going on "internally" as well.

    Otherwise it'll be no difference from regular excercises.

  • @msteeven I do tai chi so I'm not a 100% but it's normal in tai chi to exale on the way down and it cerntainly feels a lot more natural .

  • Yes. As you exhale your chi flows outward with your arms going up. You inhale on the way down bringing you chi back toward your middle tan tien

  • I used to do the whole eight segments in the mornings, I i have to tell you that it's a killer on the legs (because of the horse stance), and you really feel more eneretic after a while of doing this continously

  • I practice shaolin kung fu, and there are more stances, like snake or eagle, with the horse stance its a killer exercise, and youre absolutley rigth, it really makes one feel more energy and discipline :D

  • @DeadManCompany You are right. But i think that snake, eagle, crane, monkey, mantis, ect are systems, with their own stance. The horse stance, or Ma Bu, is an excercise in order to make your legs stronger, and you do get discipline and energy when you do it right. Greetings from Greece, wing chun system. :)

    I have certan time without practicing Qigong... but i'm actually sure this thing here... is a lie... I don't believe in this guy dressed up like a "real shaolin monk"

  • I love these videos. He is helping 'us' get started with the meditative exercises. He shows us the movements and tells us how to breath. If you cant figure out how to control your mind and energy and have to be shown that... well... then maybe you do need some real help... HA... silly inept people who have to slam and down others to make themselves feel better... *shakes head*

    All movements are External Action.

    Real QiGong is our chinese few thousands years' wisdom which indicates how to RELAX our brain and body at the foundation for Long-life training.

    KungFu QiGong is a gymnastic exercise but not for Long-life training.

    This is a good chance to share some information on the youtube.

    QiGong was created by whom or where it came from? I think noone knows nowadays.

    But, there are some informations which can be found today.

    One of the most important and Famous Ancient Books about health and healing had written down around two thousands years ago.

    This book named 皇帝內經 is a medical book which was normally stored in our Great Palace (Now: National Palace Museum) for our Emperor only.

  • This book must be learnt by Palace internal Chinese Doctors in taking good care for our China Emperor (King) in these thousands years.

    We are very lucky to have a chance to study this book today.

    It is taking about the balance of the universe, the balance of nature and the balance of the body.

    The Spirit inside this book which we treat as original ChiGong indicates:

    When all Medicine and Acupuncture are not work for our king.

    Our King should train himselve by some simple concepts.

  • The concepts state that :

    To train internal silence ;

    Standing silently alone ;

    Forget all the things happening around ;

    Muscles and Whole body united ;

    Breathing wonderful like without breathing.

    The body then will turn to healthy again gradually.

    (The about concepts are also from other very famous medical book also.)

    So, we can know that these are from our thousands years widom which was coming fm our Chinese Great Doctors in our chinese history.

  • At last, Ofcourse, we can not confirm QiGong had come from our Great Chinese Doctors in the development or Not.

    But. it is highy to be believed.

    Besides, fm another point of view, all external movements especially talking about ' Jin ' are not healing and long-Life QiGong. They are treated as special exercises or Martial Art .

  • you should know internal reflects external "stillness while moving..." my meditation involves chanting,gestures,and internal/external awareness on out/in breath. phillipw2005 you must not anticipate a long life because time is space: the hands of a clock are like people and places that influence you.if you care for the land it will yield fruit for you therefor the energy you send out comes back to you eventually

    I am honesty to tell you that Your Concept about "stillness while moving" is totally Wrong. Yr brain's cells need to send large amount of electric impulse to the muscles for contraction and relaxation in order to do any movement of the body. That means you are not stillness "internal silence". Yr brain has large amount of work load. Please don't fool yourself or totally believe what tradition's teaching.

  • Several brain states are possible during special forms of qi gong, not just beta for muscle work, but also theta for energy perceptions and delta and alpha for a pure sense of witnessing, so Electronic9J ain't that wrong...

  • bdix69, please don't take him bad, yes, originally this exercise was meant to strenghten the body of soldiers, nowadays it's s mainly used for phisical well being...since it stretches out all the main meridians and promotes chi's flow. this is the base of the martial practice at the same time, tai chi is completely founded on this kind of exercises, wai dan and nei dan exercises....specifically this is a wai dan exercise.

  • It's not for fighting, it's for meditation and relaxation. QiGong - literally translated - means "breath work" or "energy work." It has nothing to do with combat.

  • Boy you really are fucking dense! I can't believe I'm explaining this to you a second time. Listen up, these are plyometeric stretches done in repetition to build muscle memory as well as coordination. Through repetition these stretches and exercises become easier and easier. I wouldn't suggest standing in the horse stance in a fight unless you want your ass kicked. Horse stance strengthens your back and legs.

  • This monk is moving slow for the benefit of those wanting to learn the stretches. In a fight the monk's punches would be moving a lot faster with accuracy. You want to practice these punches so when it comes time to fight you're gonna be automatically throwing the punches in your opponent's face without a second thought. The emphasis is also on repetition of practice.

  • Sure, most martial arts exercises are going to have some element of strike either punching or kicking but through repetition the student gains knowledge and mastery.

  • Wow. I just did all of the Eight Silken Movements eight times for the first time, and it is an amazing workout. I plan to meditate from 4:30 to 5 in the morning, then do these excersises and go on my day. But I need some help. Am I supposed to clear my mind when I meditate or meditate on my existance in the universe?

  • Relax, keep posture, and concentrate on your breathing.

  • My name is Bruce Webb, I have been practicing a few out of 72 Arts of Shaolin, at least 2 different skills for each body part (skill for groin/ drawing in yin, diamond finger/ pulling out nails, twin lock [Shuang Suo Gong]/ the pole of a falling star [Liu Xing Shuang]). Many more besides this I have a training scedule worked out to do 36 out of 72 excersises including all the "light body" ones. I hope to learn from Sifu (Master) Shi Yan Hui befor I turn 18 (I'm 16 now). I am in Canada, NFLD.
