The name of the right guy is Ruud, the left one is Riem. Their familyname is de Wolf (The Wolf). Ruud died 2000 and Riem is still performing. He's 68 years old now and still going strong. the one on the right, died in the year 2000 becouse he had a bad hart. His brother Riem is still alive and performing. He age is 68. All the best from Holland.

Sukiyaki is actually a Japanese entree popular in American cuisine and the song was only named that because people in the USA couldn't say or pronounce "Ue wo muite arukou" which is translated "I shall walk looking up".

Kyu Sakamoto's version of this song is the only one that makes sense, and I don't even speak Japanese.

Yeah, that's just about the MOST I've ever seen heard. Two Indonesian guys singing in German with a full orchestra behind them...a song that may have been originally Japanese. I say maybe because does anyone remember Truly Truly Fair sung by Guy Mitchell in 1951, Yeah, well I'm old and I remember it. I just read elsewhere that the tune from Truly Truly Fair was lifted and used as the tune for Sukiyaki, so I came to listen to Sukiyaki to see if I could hear it. The tempos are different.

These two guys lived and worked in the Netherlands, In their era it was normal practice in Europe to record separate language versions for the individual neighbouring countries. In the 50's and 60's there were far less people who had been able to learn a forein language.
