  • I'm inspired. He's a good guitar player.

  • Comment removed

  • Keith Urban just said the B*tch word. YES!

  • I actually feared for my life while watching this video.

  • This is the video I make my friends watch when they give me shit for liking Keith Urban's guitar playing xD

  • OUTSTANDING!

  • well, keith just kicked it up a couple notches in my opinion of him as a performer. can you imagine him doing this 20 years from now, probably need an ambulance standing by just in case. what a musician! ;)>

  • Allen Coates/Broken Man.....First youtube video, Pretty good, check it out! Thanks!

  • I bet that drummer got real tired

  • This is fantastic - come on, all you guitar players out there - we'd love to able to perform like this

  • Had no idea he could also play this well. Respect.

  • I have a new respect for Keith.

  • wow the skill on the guitar has to be praised. just wow

  • I would have to say that this version as well as the Toy Dolls version is the best "Devil" cover so far.... oh yeah.. and Primus!

  • this is so sweet

  • this is so sweet hes a great singer n guitar player

  • I love the way heplays the chords to one of ozzys songs! LOVE YOU KEITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Boy the drummer was awful on this!

  • Alvin Lee see ten years after woodstock

  • He looks like Alvin Lee

  • im man he switched the lyrics between fiddle and guitar, i wish he would have said 6 string instead of fiddle or guitar, it wouldve worked nicely

  • mrmwest09 Thanks, i heard this on someones ringtone about a week ago and couldnt place it.

  • What song is he playin at 5.09-5.20

  • @andymanpart1 He's playing the intro to AC/DC Shook Me All Night Long in those 10 seconds or so.

  • he can be country but anyways he's a great guitar player... doesnt matter what are you playing just matter the great that you play that....

  • michael rhodes playing bass ?

monster supporter of live music and up and coming guitar slingers.

hey keith, hang with the best, don't give into the nashville machine and stop playing golf with vince gill who will always stop short of really great guitar moment in a heartbeat. he was you once upon a time. run.

can't believe vince ever played with craig lee fuller.

a tad too judgemental, i know. but hey i needed to say it.

i miss the pure prairie gill.

  • @journey46 That's Jerry Flowers playing Bass.

  • This is really awesome on sooo many levels... Its not about technical precision as much as it's about feel. This rocks.

  • guitar genius.

  • im donfused i thought kieth urban was a country music singer from australia.....

  • As much of a faggot this guy seems sometimes, hes clearly got his guitar playing down fairly nicely.

  • Hell. Yes.

  • Technical precision is not necessary for great music. Look at Jimmy Page and Neil Young. "Sloppy" as all hell, but great music.

  • awesome muso..tumeke kiwi raised in caboolture

  • Keith urban is definitely a talented guy! I think he was going for the crocodile dundee look back in the day! lol

  • poor drummer, he must be tierd!

  • @EveryonedissingonOutback4Me You are all ridiculous, Outback is right. I guarantee if Keith were to listen to this he would think "Man was I sloppy!" But saying someone is sloppy doesn't mean you think they aren't good, and Outback even said he rocks... Keith is a great guitarist in the studio and puts on a good show, but he was sloppy in this (regardless of how old or tired or whatever he was) And to the idiot who said they're a classical guitarist and this isn't sloppy, you should stop playing

  • AND, you don't have to be able to play something better than someone else to know that it's sloppy. Finally, just because someone is famous doesn't mean they are the best. There are literally thousands of guitarists out there who would make Keith look silly on the guitar, especially live.

  • @goblesqb7 According to who, you? What do you know about guitar playing?

  • @xxguitarhero48xx I know enough about it. And what according to me? I mean, yes, all the points above are according to me, but I'm sure there are PLENTY of guitarists out there playing every weekend like me who would agree fully with what I said. And besides, I never said he wasn't good, so why are you crying?

  • Devil dissliked this 34 times =D

  • @georgiaswamper well stick pencils through your ears we dont care?

  • @iplayguitar2913 how bout you take ur own advice. or go listen to some real country like waylon jennings ya little media raised goon! yay for mtv and cmt, they can tell me what music is GOOD!!! then i dont even have to go out and look for good music.. fuckin kook!

  • @georgiaswamper you dissin on the master keith urban??

  • Pre-Tattoos.. amazing skills!

  • what's the solo at 6:14 ??

  • HAHA. You can call it sloppy the day you play it better.

  • Haha I like that quick wave he did @3:42. Awsome performance!!!

  • it's damn good

makes me want to learn guitar even more

  • This guy is a realy cool performer. He makes music for everybody, not just rock guys or just country guys. For both young and old. A true peoples performer. He could run for office!

  • I wonder if the guys who worked on guitar hero three saw this.

    Either way: this is amazing.

  • Kieth Urban should take some lessons from John5

  • Smoke on the Water to Stairway to Heaven to Crazy Train...Lol

  • im not a big fan of keith urbans current music but he sure can play the hell out of a guitar!

  • rocks country baby!

screw anyone who don't like it

go back under your rock you pathetic people

  • great of a guitar player as he is and all he writes is pretty much pop anymore i wish he would play stuff like this cause man he can play!

on a side note look at that tele!

  • We're not worthy...

  • He plays a pretty good guitar.

  • wankfest

  • Haha mic slap at 3:43

  • And who said Keith Urban can't play?? Try and finger pick like he does here or on Clutterbilly. No.. just NO. Keith you are the man!

  • @xxguitarhero48xx Amen couldnt have said it any better

  • new respect for Keith Urban. The man can shred!

  • I didn't realise Denis Leary could shred the guitar like that.

  • When my band 'Regan's Rebels' played at the 'pine rivers country music club in QLD

Keith would guest with us. He was only twelve and could still pick us all off the stage. Good to follow his success. Johnny Regan

  • Such a great guitar player, its a shame most young metal heads and classic rock junkies arent willing to give some country a try, some great players out there.

  • @TheHawkdaddy Country sucks for the most part, nothing new about it, its always about the same ol' jazz

  • and this is why him and john mayer teamed up,

this guy is awesome at guitar :)

  • holy crap country boy can shred

  • @IAmARad This is totally country, originally recorded by Charlie Daniels Band sorry lol

  • @eyeluvku

Southern Rock. Different things. This is no more country than Lynyrd Skynyrd. Charlie Daniel's version was more country than this anyway.

  • @eyeluvku @IAmaRad yea all that finger tapping is really country

  • @eyeluvku Actually the original CDB version was 100% Southern Rock. As country music has progressed to a more contemporary/more flexible stlye, CDB was placed in the same category.

  • @eyeluvku Citing the original recording doesn't change the genre of this video. This is rock kid.

  • @Blackbarticus nope that jerry flowers. this was right after he cut his solo record.

  • wow

  • holy shit. i used to think keith urban was a bitch... not anymore

  • couldnt believe my ears wen i heard you shook me all night long and another brick in the wall

  • lol crazy train

  • I hate modern popular country. But fuck this guy and how much skill he shows.

  • that is not 1991 he had long platinum hair then

  • @dolcegabanna1984 After having checked my bio's on Keith I have to admit I was mistaken. This is after the release of his self titled album in Nashville, 1999. The Ranch album, was released in 1997. I stand corrected but the platinum hair was earlier than 1991.

  • that was back when he was on some serious drugs ha hes recoverd and doesnt touch them now and hes even better...... so drugs dont help you as a musician lol... but this is stilll awwweeeeesommeeeee:):):)

  • 32 people most be tone deaf!

  • ummmm, as a guitar player myself and a big ass fan of metallica, im not comparing his licks to start a band, but now during the johnny solo, there was a couple parts the match Master of Puppets perfectly, and he looks like he is on crack this video........ lol

  • you really cant tell he's not from America he's a pritty good country star and man he can play guitar

  • hahaa Keith said "SOB" hahahahah

  • he looks like dennis leary lol

  • ummmm! god damn!!! he just about melted that fender of gold...holy crap!!!!

  • a fender of gold :P

  • he's not 21 he 34 there and today he's 42

  • @michaelsworsley - You're right he isn't 21 but he is in his mid 20's at this show.

  • @eyeluvku this was right after he cut his solo record which came out in 99. he was born in 1967 so he would have been 31 or 32.

  • haha thought it was a golden fender hahaha, its too amazing ta even say that, love his version, thank you Keith Urban

  • The hair is shorter, the muscles are not as developed, the tattoos are not all there, but dang, the man could already play a mean guitfiddle!

  • i just LOVE the Stairway To Heaven, Crazy Train and especially You Shook Me All Night Long parts.

  • absolutely LOVE the Stairway to Heaven, Crazy Train and You Shook Me All Night Long riffs.

  • i've seen this video like 50 times.. i dont think he was sloppyy.. i wanna play like that!! hes amazing!! and this song is amazing!! and i love it! :)

  • keith urban kicks ass what happened!?

  • @vasq8431 he just plays radio friendly music now, but on tour he shows his skills

  • @nicholasczapiewski ah cool!

  • can anybody tell me what the solo was after crazy train

  • Love this!!! Love American music... Love Charlie!

Help us out, Americans! check this post and please comment on how we're doing in The Netherlands, Europe

The Devil went down to Georgia-Lowlanders 2009

    Thanks!

  • what is the name of the song playin at around 4:55

  • What is the song he starts playing at 4:55?

  • @BenGrismer It's his own song. Clutterbilly, from the Ranch CD.

  • wholy CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!that waz awsome.....that is all i can sayXD

  • take notes kiddies, this is how its done. my band plays this pretty much as it is, i'm the devil and our lead guitarist is jimmy (cause his names james) abd we have a rock off and trade licks, its awesome lol

  • i 1st saw Keith in 1991 at Flamingo's Nightclub in Rockhampton Qld Australia, Have a signed poster to prove it. I was 7 years old and he is and always has been my biggest inspiration in life and as a musician since that day. There were about 30 kids at the under 18's show and no more then 15 at his adult show. I still remember it like today and love his music and admire him for going such a long way! Shame about Nicole though :-( lol

  • He is a B.A. I grew up in the very late 70's (78,79 I was 9-10) Lived all the 80's, went to collage and became a man in the 90's, and Coach High School Football today and listen to the some what crap today. And in all them years my top 6-Strings I really liked in order: Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Angus Young, and The Edge. I have to say Keith is right with these Freaks of Nature. I got respect when I saw Keith dp a riff off with Slash, and again with Eddie Van Halen and he more then held his own.

  • ffffrrrreeeeaaaakkkk

  • Legend in the making...oh wait has been a legend since he picked up a guitar. I love his skills. Amazing artist I've been lucky to see 6 times in concert. He's worth traveling far and wide to see live.

  • Its amazing that the best stuff this guy does is never shown.. Amazing playing.. he deserves all the status he has made at it from the Ranch band to the rest

  • Sloppy??? Not bad for a 21 year old kid from Caboolture.

  • @eyeluvku Theres no way he's 21 here is there.

  • @lisannhodges67 He is

  • @Outback4Me ...He got a little better on the Guitar ,Made Millions of Dollars and then Married Nicole Kidman ,...SO I'd say things ended up working out for him....lol!

  • @Outback4Me

"The devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat.

He laid that golden fiddle on the ground at Johnny's feet.

Johnny said: "Devil just come on back if you ever want to try again.

"I told you once, you son of a gun, I'm the best that's ever been."

Yeah!! love this early KU! sloppy or not, at 21 he could only get better ...

  • @Outback4Me Really? So I'm assuming you could do it better then?

  • @Outback4Me you call that sloppy? do you need a hearing aid? i mean i grew up on ricky scaggs and if u ask me even scaggs or vince gill cant hold a candle next to keith urban!

  • @Outback4Me Yep...in front of a rock crowd, he would've been booed off the stage as some half-assed wanna-be....but in front of a country crowd, it doesn't take much to impress (I doubt any of the crowd could name the cover licks he was trying to do).

  • @guitarsforeveryone guarantee he wouldnt of been booed. devil went down to georgia(nashville) is the jam. and he can shred just as good as any rock guitarist. in fact thats why a lot of old shredders from the 80's are studio musicians in nashville now

  • @MrJdvance Um, sure....the rock concerts I've been too he wouldn't last; he's good for what he does, but not the caliber of a rock guitarist. And as far as 80's rockers playing in Nashville...you made my point...it's easier to impress a Country crowd than a Rock crowd...as a regularly gigging musician, I can attest to that.

  • @guitarsforeveryone i am also a regularly gigging musician, its really not that impressive and i'm not going to get into a pissing match about it but im willing to bet he could sweep pick with the best of 'em and pull off w/e he wants to. and im not saying hes the greatest ever, theres a lot of known and uknown great players out there. he just happens to be country. and country crowds...rock crowds...either way they're both drunk

  • @MrJdvance Don't sell yourself short; of course it's impressive. And your comment about both crowds being drunk is so true. lol

  • @guitarsforeveryone and no matter what the crowd. they always yell freebird

  • @MrJdvance lol...no kidding!

  • @guitarsforeveryone its not always easier to impress a country croud than a rock crowd...all of the rock guitarist switch to country and effin suck!

  • @iplayguitar2913 Huh? You might want to name a few examples before you start with the hyperbole.

  • @guitarsforeveryone hey asshole dont be makin fun of the crowd...im country and i knew every single lick he played

  • @iplayguitar2913 Umm...yeah....good for you big boy. And I'll feel free to make fun of any crowd, thank you very much. My opinion is based off of what I've experienced as a gigging musician. If I'm gigging at a rock place, I'd better be on that night to impress, whereas at a country gig I can get away with half-assed rock licks and be impressive. You can disagree and that's fine, but do it in a respectful manner.

  • @Outback4Me You're tripping. As a classical guitarist I can tell you he's far from sloppy. You're damn jealous is all.

  • @Outback4Me yea it did seem a little sloppy but i have to point out 3 reasons why we cant really call him out on that..

1 it was clearly at the end of a pretty big performance so you know hes been playin all night

2 it was pretty much a 7 minute long guitar solo stamina has an effect (not to mention the first reason on top of that)

3 they are techniques way beyond the average guitarists reach and the fact that he is doing them to the point of understanding is enough for him to have my respect.

  • Holy fuck but even young this guy can play. No wonder he hit it big.

  • haha this video makes me laugh everytime....he is just THAT good!!!

I cant do anything but smile and shake my head at how good He is

  • keith urban rocks so damn hard. love this guy.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • wow!

  • This guy is amazing!!!

  • HOLY FUCK 0.0

  • wow i didn't realize KU was a guitar god.

  • Holy shit O.o

  • does any body know where i can get an mp3 of this??? i even resorted to looking on itunes

  • OMG!! That does not look like him at all! Holy crap!! Is that really him?

  • Yes that's really him....a very young him lol

  • LOL

  • sure try to cover that i dare u

  • It's actually not that difficult. o_O Most of it is improv and classic riffs. And the usual. Not knockin' it or anything, I love it.

  • @guitarwizard84 my band did lol

  • I am so making my Friend agree to cover this in Battle of the Bands in Febuary.

  • I love this song 5 stars to this song!

  • at 4:04 what is that

  • @pieking911 never mind i figured it out

  • Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin

  • Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeplen

  • haha is that Jerry Flowers??

  • Yes it is! This was back when he was initially with Keith in The Ranch.

  • Neo2906 the telecaster he is playing is the CS 40th anniversary, reputed to be the most sought after mainstream telecaster in existense. Only 100 ever made in that colour and he is reputed to own quite a collection of them.

  • Love to see him and Paisley go toe-to-toe....

  • Have you seen their duet "Start A Band"... some subdued by comparable licks in it.

  • i'm a guitar player, and trust me there's a huge difference in chicken picking and speed metal. Both take skill, but what keith does takes technic that the guitarist from dragonforce sure as hell couldn't pull off.

  • How insane would it be if he played this at one of his current concerts....!

  • I knew about this before I saw him play, and I was praying that he would, cause that would be so sick

  • hey i noticed you mguyss wwere talking about fie from guitar hero so i just wanted to tell you tht its actually country but they altered it to be rock. so the real version is country by the charlie daniels band. just wanted to let you know

  • I think this was from 98' or so..when Keith was still heading a band called, The Ranch. After that he recorded "Where The Blacktop Ends" as a solo act and the rest is history. =)

  • actually i think this is after he went solo, but he kept his bandmates with him.... because he did play rollercoaster at that concert

  • Supermonkey22: Urban actually did an album with the Ranch in 2004 I think it was. A lot of people mistake the album for being called IN THE RANCH and being one of Urban's solo albums since it says "Keith Urban in the Ranch" on the cover...it's one of his best albums, musically speaking, though and much better than his two newest albums, like all of his older stuff!

  • The Ranch was a group and i think it was the late 90's not 04

  • peppy6078: They were really together that long before '04? That CD that's by the Ranch is ©2004 so I always assumed they had recorded it then...I guess they had recorded it before then and that it wasn't released until then though.

  • Oh, and I did know it was a group...the way the cover of the album was designed just makes it look like it's a Keith Urban album which kind of annoys me, since it was an album by the Ranch and not just Urban.

  • It is by the band but Keith was headliner of that group and like many others the headliner is put up front and center on covers.

  • He is sooo funny! Anyone know what year this was recorded in?

  • there ins't a song keith couldn't play if he wanted fire and flames included.bowser the only fire and flames you've played is on guitar hero

  • i gotta say, not the greatest sining, but dang- that guitar is pretty impressive 5/5 from me

  • yeah keith urban is such a beast. i must say he's a little underated though.

  • TheKienitz: As a guitarist, I'd certainly agree that Urban is underrated...of course, I can't stand his two newest albums (the songs I've heard from them, that is). I like his older stuff much more--when he still had a nice blend of country and rock...now, he just plays pop (except for the duet him and Brad Paisley did together--that was more along the lines of rock!).

  • BONER!!!!
