Hi I can confirm that the band is Jugg, if i remember correctly they recorded on the private stick it in your ear label...oh and this posting is great!!!!!!
thanks for uploading, remember watching the series on dutch tv, I was 17. so really related to it back then.
great to hear the Media playing live. I became a fan of the band after hearing them play here in Going out, Got hold of their 2nd single but never found their debutsingle
Me and my mate used to get pissed on eight can's of lager and go to the school disco on a friday night , muck about like Dikey, chat up the girl's then get home for 10.30 to watch the fabulous "Going Out" them were good day's!!!!!
I loved this prog. I coud relate very well to the charectors as I myself was only 17. Thanks for uploading it. I thought I'd never see it again. Or hear that song again.
OMG! I didn't think I'd ever see this again. I loved watching this in my bedroom every Friday evening, I was 13 and thought it was the dogs ...............!

Oh my God, just had one of those moments when you hear music for the first time in nearly 30 years and it brings it all back! This was on Friday nights at 10pm as I remember. 30 years.......jesus.......
Absolutely brilliant post, Cobra, thank you so much. Took me right back - I was 16 in 1981 too, only in Coventry rather than Portsmouth. Same bombed-out shitty concrete town, though. I watched this thing once back in 1981 and I couldn't believe I could remember some of the dialogue. It must have had a big impact on me then, and it has again today, at 45. Austerity Britain is now back, and there'll be a whole new generation of school leavers living just like this, only with text messaging.
Excellent stuff, made me nostalgic as i was one of those school leaver unemployed.. and filmed in my city of Portsmouth, recognising all those locations, some now sadly changed. But one thing that did make me think, was that the characters in the series went to the Jobcentre, whereas i went to the youth employement service..we went to the jobcentre at 18.....is this a goof?
I used to record these on me old betamax recorder, apparently there`s no tv archive of these programs. The acting is crap, but it was still pretty good stuff in its day.
Oh man! This takes me waaaay back. The 'big-boys Tucker's Luck'. I can remember how a lot of us felt when we saw something that actually reflected life then for real... not like the bloody fantasy world of Skins.
great stuff. greeting from down under, here in Oz. Thanks for posting. Remember watching this as 15/16 year old In Ireland ! Hits and memories. the blond gal ended up in eastenders yeah ? and I remember the brunette as a barmaid in Only Fools
@spaceboy5391 lol...not sure if the blonde ended up in East Enders....I believe she had a sitcom called "Birds of a Feather" But yes, the dark haired lass was in "Only fools" as a Barmaid!...then again I might be wrong as I don't watch soaps. must be my age, thanks for the comment anyway!!
Finally found it. thought i'd never see it again. Every1 i've asked never remembers this programme. A late night classic for us at the time. Some1 plz do a dvd of it.....................or i'll send Dikey round.
Jugg music was Mike Hugg from Manfred Mann, and someone called Jones. He was friends with my best friends dad. Any chance of a copy ? It'll be good to show my girlfriend how Portsmouth has changed, many of the buildings have now gone !
Fantastic that you have uploaded this I can't thank you enough I was about 13 when this aired and it was on after the ten o'clock news and I had to be in bed at ten so used to watch it in the dark with the volume low :-).
No problem glad you enjoyed...I have uploaded week 2 and it seems to be much clearer in HD widescreen than this 4.3 format...i shall get around to posting all of the series so keep and eye on!! thanx again!
thats right I was only about 11/12 yrs old but really enjoyed it! I'm going to replace this soon with a widescreen version to see if it brightens up the picture.
great stuff, great memories wasnt this shown late night around 1981,a great series notice some great actors in it,andrew paul, perry benson, linda robson, ray burdis, eric richard to name a few....
