@stutterthepimp - Thank you for pointing this out, the sabbath day is a very important matter for Latter-day Saints. Since this video deals primarily with the event of the Fall of Adam and Eve, the topic of the Sabbath Day will be treated in another video.
These are merely artistic depictions made to be representations of Adam and Eve. They were done how the artists envisioned Adam & Eve in their minds. It is not meant to be a statement on races or a clear definition of Adam & Eve's skin color.
As I noted before, the paintings in this video are merely *representations* of Adam and Eve and not a statement on the skin color of our first parents, which is of no importance to me personally. Heavenly Father created all of us as His children in His image. We are perfect just as He has created each one of us individually.
i love science and i believe in god. but one must remember that science gets refuted and revised everyday. many of their research are based on theories. With current technology we can uncover some aspects but the bigger picture is filled with theories and speculation. I feel that that in the future as we progress more will be revealed. In the future, We will be able to understand more. It is as simple as that. In science anything that is not possible, in the future becomes possible.
I've never heard anyone so eloquently put it all together and answer all comments with such love and kindness. You are so needed in this world. Looking forward to more of your work. Thanks and blessings to you and glory to God for His revelations.
I just watched the first 3 of these videos-- they're fantastic!! Did you make these yourself Mike? If so, you did an amazing job. They're incredible thorough yet simply put. What an incredible resource for those who are curious about our beliefs!
The Church has no official position on evolution, and each member is entitled to his or her own personal views on the subject. In the evolution debate, difficulties have arisen when readers assume that statements by certain leaders represent an official position beyond that expressed by the First Presidency as a body.
Some counsel given by the leaders of the Church to its membership: "Leave geology, biology, archaeology and anthropology, no one of which has to do with the salvation of the souls of mankind, to scientific research, while we magnify our calling in the realm of the Church."
mikebatie, isn't the positition of the church on biology, archaeology, anthropology, and evolution a giant dick tuck? Why can't they just answer it instead of pretending like it's not important? I mean, the question of who we are and how we got here is a pretty important one right? It's especially curious when science piles on more and more evidence every day that evolution is a fact and not just a theory any more. What does the church say about dinosaurs? Thanks in advance mike.
The Church is not a scientific institution. It is a religious body that is guided by the Spirit and by revelation. Rather than seeing it as a dick tuck, I see it as the Church's admission that "we don't know everything, so we won't pretend to know things we do not know by revelation." The First Presidency-authorized Encyclopedia of Mormonism states: "The scriptures tell why man was created, but they do not tell how, though the Lord has promised that he will tell that when he comes again."
LDS revelations record: "Yea, verily I say unto you, in that day when the Lord shall come, he shall reveal all things—Things which have passed, and hidden things which no man knew, things of the earth, by which it was made, and the purpose and the end thereof" (Doctrine & Covenants 101:32-33).
From this we feel the Lord at some future time will reveal things about which, in our current state, we can only form theories. Until then we are free to study, measure, record, and research matters on our own and try to find answers by learning.
A 1910 editorial in an LDS Church magazine that enumerates various possibilities for creation is usually attributed to Smith or to the First Presidency, stated the possibility that Adam and Eve "evolved in natural processes to present perfection." But again, the Church allows for varying views until the Lord reveals the processes by which man came to be in his present state.
yeah because archaeology biology and anthropology disprove the church.. that is just like mcdonalds telling you to not believe in super size me. it takes away profit and is bad business to say your product is faulty. duh... is it not obvious to you. wake up and smell the coffee you arent allowed to drink.
We don't know that Adam & Eve were white anymore than we know if they were black, gray, yellow, brown, or purple. Artists depictions of often portray Adam & Eve in the look of the culture or race of the artist.
We do know that Jesus was born as a Jew in mortality, and therefore likely looked like Jewish man.
Hey just curious about God. Why would He create Adam and Eve in a way that they couldnt produce children, if that's what God wanted them to do? You said that God wanted to bring His spiritual children on earth.
The Book of Mormon teaches us that Adam and Eve were innocent, and as long as they were in the Garden, "they would have no children." This is also strengthened in the Bible. Children are not even mentioned until after the fall. Irenaeus (an early Christian writer) said that both Adam and Eve "had no understanding of the procreation of children."He also mentioned that Eve was a virgin in the garden and said that after the fall, Adam "had lost his natural disposition and child-like mind."
I'm not exactly sure why. There are various theories. One is that God could not force his children into a "fallen state" that would enable them to have children, but they had to choose for themselves.
This is a pretty good video. People should really read the book of Adam and Eve to understand everything fully. The Bible, as it is today, is very vague about this.
Thank you for creating these great videos. I am leaving for my mission soon, and at the mo I am trying to study PMG chapter 3, and your videos are helping me do my outline for lesson 2. Cheers!
so if adam and eve were the first people on the earth! then how do you explain that when cain slew abel,God drove out cain from his presence and told him"whosoever slayeth cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold! And the Lord set a mark upon cain, lest any finding him should kill him! and cain knew his wife! Please read Genesis 4:14-17
Adam and Eve had more children than just Cain and Abel. The children of Adam and Eve married each other and began to propogate the species. The Bible does not say that there were no other children. It simply mentions Cain and Abel by name because they are the main focus of a story. There were other children.
well according to Genesis chapter 6, there were actually other beings such as giants(nephilim) at the time of noah and the time of adam and eve and other talking serpents. lookup giants(nephilim) on youtube. they have discovered the remains of the nephilim. they were also at the time of moses when they wanted to take canaan the first time in numbers 13:30-33
so if adam and eve were the first people on the earth, then when cain was driven out for killing his brother abel, the bible say's in genesis 4:14-17 that cain knew his wife in another Land.east of eden!. Who were these other people?
Cain was already married to his wife before he went eastward to the land of Nod. "knew his wife" means they had intercourse which produced a child, it doesn't mean that they met and came to know eachother first in the other land. He was already married to her and they produced a child when they were in the East.
Lucifer was cast out of heaven and sent down to the earth before Adam and Eve came (Isaiah 14:12-13). This is discussed in detail in my video "Mormon Beliefs: Part 1" which is in the video list to the right side of this page >>
If Adam and Eve were made by God and they were immortal, but couldn't have children . . . Why would he give them a commandment like "Be fruitful and multiply"?? So Lucifer (the devil, a demon, whatever) ends up being a "good guy" because Adam and Eve had to disobey God and do what Lucifer said to obey God's commandment to be fruitful and multiply?
Thank you, my question exactly. The original scripture says nothing about Adam and Eve being unable to bear children before the fall, in fact the statement "You shall know pain in chlldbirth" suggests that this was an option, albeit unpursued, beforehand. (Or maybe pursued. Like someone else said, the scriptures are vague on the matter) But yeah, this is just reinforcing my beliefs that Joseph Smith had good intentions, but just ended up screwing things up. Nothing personal, that's my view.
The verse you noted takes place *after* Adam & Eve partook of the fruit (Genesis 3:16). As a result of the Fall, women would conceive children through pain of childbirth. There is no description in the Bible if they were *able* to have children or not prior to the Fall, we know that they were not by Latter-day revelation.
Regardless, if Adam did NOT partake of the fruit after Eve, they would have been separated and unable to have children. Eve had eaten the fruit and by doing so would be cast out, leaving Adam alone in the Garden. Being thus separated, they could not have had children and bring about their posterity, you and I. Adam chose to Fall in order to be with his wife Eve and bring forth children, giving rise to the human race. Adam fell that men might be.
thanks for the video. this week i'm teaching my preschooler about adam and eve. and when you started talking, my little boy said, "that's heavenly father talking"! :) gotta love kids!
Interesting view of the fall, I am Catholic and never have seen it portrayed in this way. Adam and Eve being made of the same flesh were strong when together, but weak when apart. This is why I believe Mary was the new Eve, being obedient to God. Jesus was the new Adam being born of a women who did not sin.
And the scriptures even call by the title of Adam, "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit...The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven" (1 Corinthians 15:45-47)
Adam as the father of the human family introduced mortality, which brought with it sin and death. Jesus Christ, as the new Adam, became our 'new' father by our adoption to Him as our Redeemer and Savior.
is funny how he didn't say anything bout GOD BLESS THE 7TH DAY OF REST
