He was using an X26 police model taser, you can tell by the grip. Take a good look at how it is held in his hand. The grips are very different on the two models.
To me, looks as though the officer went to the taser a bit quick, but the driver also had quite a bit of an attitude toward the officer. You have to remember, that there is no such thing as a 'routine' traffic stop. Officers never know if they could get hit by another vehicle or if a nice calm driver could suddenly whip out a gun and try to kill him, so they can be pretty tense when walking up to a car.

The officer was killed by some crazy asshole who shot him in the forehead with a rifle (from the hip) as he stepped out of his vehicle just after stopping. The taser is suppose to be for defensive purposes when non lethal force is appropriate. He was under NO TREAT at all. Should have asked again, and told him he would be arrested if he did not comply. The Taser is sold and marketed by the developers, manufacturers and distributors as "less-lethal". This is manifest in their own promotional literature, videos and advertising. Whenever the words "non-lethal" is used to describe tasers, you are being lied to. "less-lethal" is accurate and puts the whole concept into correct context.

@rodrma This is Austin, TX - A state trooper was killed by a POS not more than 20 miles from here. The officer was killed by some crazy asshole who shot him in the forehead with a rifle (from the hip) as he stepped out of his vehicle just after stopping. The cop didn't even get completely out of his car. He died on the seen leaving a wife and family.

@rodrma The officer shouldn't have even wasted time pulling over a guy for going 5 over in the first place. The officer comes up and asks for the usual. The guy uses his right to know charges against him and asks what he was pulled over for. He starts to yell at the guy and the guy says to let him get it. Then the officer breaks the law by opening his door, pulling him out, and tasering him without warrant. Taser: made for defense, not cop torture.

This leads to a militarization of civilian police forces and these people can't relate to people who actually believe that they are ALLOWED to question authority. With a culture that sees no evil from top to bottom there is no place for accountability. Even when you prove wrongdoing all they do is cloud the issue and redefine the terms to preclude accountability.

Several comments said at 1:21 the driver "grabbed" at the officer's belt. If you watch what happens, the officer presses the taser trigger and the "arm grabbing for his belt" is the driver's body convulsing from the taze before dropping to the ground. This officer intentionally escalated the situation very quickly.

When you have traffic speeding by a few feet away, you or the idiot you've stopped could be hit at any second. The taser is suppose to be for defensive purposes when non lethal force is appropriate. He was under NO TREAT at all. Should have asked again, and told him he would be arrested if he did not comply. Then if he refused to get out while being arrested, then that is resisting arrest and the story MAY change some. Thats not what happened. I agree on your point of principle. However, there is an important distinction to be made between non-lethal and "less-lethal". The Taser is sold and marketed by the developers, manufacturers and distributors as "less-lethal". This is manifest in their own promotional literature, videos and advertising. Whenever the words "non-lethal" is used to describe tasers, you are being lied to. "less-lethal" is accurate and puts the whole concept into correct context.

the cop has a right to pull someone over for doing 5 MPH over, the law says 65, you do 65, not 70, and B, the taser used on the bull and the taser used on humans are 2 different ones i'm a former marine and former corrections officer, the red taser it shows on the bull is an animal controll taser and is different strength, and the guy didnt want to comply which by law is "obstruction of justice" and the officer had the right to tase him, BUT on the other hand he could have handled it alot more

ive had APD and DPD try to hit me with their batons for not signing a ticket and once for nt agreeing for him to search my car for what he calld a normal procedure apperantly he stops people alot to search them randomly.luckily i fought back in self defense but what can i do against a taser,you know people feel we abuse our gun rights but notice ntn is said when a cop abuses there rights in general including guns.trust me my ak cant drop a cow like that taser.
