  • Love this song. Jean vocal on this version is so much better than the alternate one used on the Right On LP.

  • Are there any songs related to the wars that are recorded today written and sung for the men and women serving our country today? Ahh the good old days when people cared and you could even hear it.

  • Recorded on the 14th November 1969 this is one top song.

This is one of the songs which was recorded when poor Mary and Cindy had to do a lot of hours, in the day in the studio with Jean, at the night on stage with Diana, we have to admire Mary and Cindy for putting in so many hours. they must have been so tired but they still carrued off recordings like this. Love it. xx

  • Flip side of Up the Ladder to the Roof - great song - great dance music - !!

  • i used to love, love, love this B side of Up the Ladder to the Roof

  • @jody808 Ah same here got it on the UK black Tamla Motown label.

  • This song together with "Edwin Starr- War" & "Freda Payne's Bring The Boys Home" were a definite staple on our home music catalog during my uncle Gabe military drafting into the Vietnam War!

  • It was the Vietnam War and many had their Bill's that never came back........Great tune like Freda Payne's "Bring the boys home"

  • What was Jean's last name?

  • her last name is terrell - she isn't dead, baybee..!

  • Terrell, she was related to Tammie Terrell

  • @jody808 No, Jean was not related to Tammi Terrell.

  • @dorindaclarkcole Her proper full name is Velma Jean Terrell, hope this helps? xx

  • this was the B side of Up the Ladder to the Roof, always loved this song too

  • I love that you used the mono versiuon with the alternate lead vocal - differenrt from the album version..Thanks!

  • Actually I never would listen to this song until a classmate asked me to play it on my portable record player I brought to school one day. From the day on in 1970 I loved that song. This is a classic and Jena sings it to the fullest. What was going on in that day with the Vietnam war, this song brings back those memories.

  • this song has been a lost favourite to my wife for 35 years and she was so pleased to find it on you tube after all these years it still remail a firm favourite to het

  • Always loved this song - for those with supremely tuned ears - the b side of the single is different (musically and vocally) to the Right On album cut.

  • As the late Levi Stubbs said - Jean, you're supreme!

  • aww I love jean's voice

    it's so DIFFERENT

not so hard but nice and clear

    nice supremes =)

  • Great song, great memories. A favorite. Thanks.

  • Wow! That was fast! No problem!

  • Good music is always appreciated here, hehehehe. Hey, would you have their classic song "Touch"?

  • @stawberry19919 Jean is so breathtaking vocally, I could listen to her all day, just heavenly, no wonder she is known as the silken soprano, top class singer and Mary and Cindy are just the best for harmonies, love JMC! xxxx
