  • @MsWhiteIsland Not than having sex while listening to it.

  • WHO IN THEIR RIGHT ASS WOULD DISLIKE THIS???

  • @amno1000 Someone who's sitting on his left ass for too long.

  • @TheB4t5 LMAO!

  • @amno1000 Whoa there. Keep your asses on...

  • Magnificent!

  • zarpadoooooo...................me encanta!!!

  • :)))))

  • good improvisation hate that piano sound!!!

  • hes like a screaming chick corea

  • @MrZulu2065, i think lady gaga's jazz songs are not really bad...

  • Not bad Keith this performance on Autumn Leaves (clearly inspired by Bill Evans), just a little nervous...

And PLEASE ! Stop screaming while playing it's unbearable ! It is not respect for your audience...

  • When I heard this I was just amazed at what a human can do.

  • I'm so glad I played in jazz band all through school. Made me appreciate this beautiful music.

  • Pop music strikes the brain in pleasurable ways that even the most HC sub-sub genre aficionado cannot innately ignore. But like anything taken to a 'higher level,' jazz requires more thought and energy to understand and enjoy, which is something some folks choose to do because they find greater value in its delayed gratification. But I still listen to MJ or many other pop artists and am still 'cheaply,' but happily, satisfied. All depends on the mood! :D

  • a musica verdadeiramente de qualidade não tem limites geográficos!! um grande show!

  • Jazz artists, are incredibly famous. Jazz, sits under the radar, like all great things we take for granted....Just leave it be...

  • 103 sourds n'aiment pas !

  • Does this KJ troll literally not own a pair of ears?

  • @jazzlover06 I'm just learning. Please help me. I like Miles, 'Trane, Evans, MJQ, OP, Duke, Count, Prez, Dolphy, Ornette, Powell, Bill Evans, Mozart, Sravinsky, Schubert, Beethoven, Bach Jelly Roll, Armstrong, Young (Lester) etc. I realize these are not up to your standards. Do U think KJ has changed music & influenced others? I would really appreciate any help U could give me. Other than his behavior please help me understand what he has done. I am so anxious to hear from U, U R a genius!

  • @frody8pie I don't want to get into this, but, in a word, yes.

  • @jazzlover06 Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. Who should I listen to? I really like music, but I guess I don't know as much as U. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Help me understand what KJ has done.

    Thanks,

    F

  • @frody8pie Please rise above this. If you really want a name of someone who explicitly cites KJ as their main influence, I daresay you're acquainted with the music of Gwilym Simcock.

  • @jazzlover06 Rise above what? KJ is a great artist. IMO he's overrated. That's not important. He doesn't just play he has a BS act. If U like him great, Great artist make their mark with their talent. I've been to many KJ concerts. The playing(trio) is really good, in fact great. The solo concerts, a lot of notes. I could tell U more but I won't. KJ is a great player. His sensitive genius act is pure BS. If U like it, cool. The great artists showed up & played.KJ has to put on an act. Umbria 07!

  • Comment removed

  • @frody8pie Yes, sorry for the initial comment. I quite agree that the trio is better than solo and the act is more than a little bit irritating. I just hate arguments on youtube, but hopefully this one is over.

  • @jazzlover06 Hi, thanks for your thoughtful reply. I appreciate your courtesy. Hope we can keep in touch from time to time. Best regards.

  • I love the autumn and I love jazz, smooth combination.

  • it must be great if there a piano duet between keith jarrett and chick corea.... :D what would be the result? nyahaha...

  • (look at his thumb at 4:49 !!)

  • i hear the old man trying to sing XD thats so cute

  • omfg keith jarret u're definitely born to be the prophet of jazz musicians!!

  • @dongordhi IMO you need to get out more!

  • 103 people prefer Lady Gaga's music

  • Can anyone confirm the rumor the KJ concerts are going to have plainclothes security scattered through the audience? I heard they were going to remove anyone w/ camera, phone, coughing etc. SCARY!

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.

  • Please check out my solo classical guitar version of this. :)

    Peace.

  • Kieth Jarrett's a major influence! the best

Check out some of my tunes @ inspiredtruth.bandcamp.com

  • @vbutts Hi, I'm new to this. Who has he influenced?

    Thanks

  • I would listen to Jarrett a lot more if he would ever shut up with the mouth noise/singing along w/ his soloing and just play. It really is distracting from the actual music.

  • @waynerackley Hey man, lots of musicians do that, including the great Oscar Peterson. At a certain point, it probably becomes very difficult not to do this since their brains are just so overwhelmed by music. When you do something long enough, the brain literally expands the functions required to do said thing.

  • @waynerackley I suppose that you can't listen, then, to like half the Jazz musicians there are, were, and will be, since most of them do it =/

  • Does anyone know what Keith is quoting starting at 7:24 until 7:41?

  • @MrGuy4000

I believe it's a composition called "Speak low". There's a nice version by Pharoah Sanders.

    Saludos.

  • @MrGuy4000 Speak Low

  • This is the best jazz listening for this wonderful song.

  • I fully agree with you. I just didn't like frody8pie's criticism. It's another thing to say that he is not humble and another to say that he plays just for himself being a narcissist. It is not based on any facts and for me is a totally inappropriate statement.

  • @TCNHC Oh yes it is! (Fact) . In my opinion, when you let your personality become a large part of your act, then anything goes. When KJ said at his last NY concert, "I really love my audience" he was lying to his entire fan base. KJ is a disgrace to his profession. What has he composed? A few tunes. Trio playing, great, everything else is BS. KJ has never changed music, like the true "Masters". KJ will be a footnote in jazz history. Known more for his antics than his music.. Like it? Enjoy!

  • @frody8pie So why don't you l ike him again? I really don't know much about the guy except that he plays the piano lol.

  • Respond to this video... I do have to say that I like his style (although he's certainly no McCoy Tyner).

  • @mightyafrowhitey I agree w/ you. I caught 'Trane w/ Tyner, Garrison, & Jones many times. When they finished the set, and the clapping stopped, you just sat there in total silence and awe.

  • @frody8pie Ok nevermind about my previous comment. I just read up on him some. Yea he's a dick lol.

  • @mightyafrowhitey That's putting it mildly! Did you check out his tantrum on KJ Umbria 07? (YouTube). I was lucky enough to see Miles, 'Trane, Monk, Evans etc. numerous times. They came to play. And they changed music. This pompous ass is IMO the most overrated player out there. Looks like we hear & see things the same way. LOL to u too! Enjoy the music.

  • @frody8pie TROLL ALERT, TROLL ALERT. This guy has been trying to poison loads of KJ videos here on Youtube with the same garbage. It looks like some kind of crusade. Maybe he's on Wynton Marsalis' payroll.

  • @allcreditdue That's great! Troll alert. Maybe I am Wynton. KJ's taken a lot of shots @ him. WM is not the greatest player but he is a gentleman. When I went & heard Miles, Trane, Monk, MJQ, Ellington, Bill Evans, to name a few I heard music that changed the world. Not everyone can have those gifts. IMO KJ as I have said is great, but not a"Giant".There is no excuse for his behavior. Y did he say "I really love my audience"in NY? A lie. People R starting to see the BS. Enjoy the music Over&out.

  • @frody8pie I am not interested in debating KJ with you. It would be like listening to a 4 year old child trying to critique Einstein's Theory of Relativity. I was, however, hoping to understand what you're trying to achieve by littering lots of KJ posts with negative and abusive comments. This is proving difficult. My fault I guess -- I ignored the golden rule of the internet i.e. DON'T FEED THE TROLLS.

  • @allcreditdue This will be my last comment. When an artist chooses to interact w/ the audience like KJ does, then it is only logical to expect feedback. Do U think the fans who paid good money @ Umbria07 felt like hearing music after that tirade? I fully agree there should be no flash photo's during performance & a drunk etc. should be removed. Coughing? I notice the applause doesn't bother K. KJ has made many more negative & abusive comments that I have. I understand how U feel. Good luck!

  • Under every jazz song people are talking about lady gaga

  • I don't know how many versions of Autumn Leaves have been recorded, but this is a great version of a great song, nonetheless!

  • incredible... hope he lives so long...

  • Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette... so wonderful!!

  • すごくへたっちいに聴こえるが、、、どうなんだろ?

    タイミング悪いよね

  • i hate to keith but i love your music

  • Bass player is Gary Peacock... drummer is Jack DeJohnette

  • KJ is an extraordinary pianist in the trio context. Technically he can play anything he can hear. And his playing is cliche free. One of the great trios. While KJ is masterful I would not say he is a "Master or Giant", like Armstrong, Young, Monk, Evans, Miles, Trane etc. to name a few. Why? Because he has never changed anything or created a truly unique "sound". He is in my opinion the best player today, but there is not much competition. If his imagination was as big as his ego...

  • @frody8pie Ok, I need to acknowleagde you! Very, very good description of KJ. But why do you go again about "criticizing" and saying "his imagination was as big as his ego"...??? How do you know that? Are you his wife, mother or teacher? and even so, you won't do that at least publicly. Ok I got it and I know what you mean. But that's not our business. Did he disappoint you as a musician? If not then leave the rest for him to solve without making such public statments.

  • @TCNHC He is known to have a big ego as part of his public figure, so I think that frody8pie's remark is adequate. There is no reason why a gifted artist can't be humble... there are many talented artists out there, but on a personal level I also appreciate them showing human values as part of their public persona. Sadly, from what little I know of KJ, that can't be said of him.

  • who's the bass player?

  • Who the hell dislikes this? 102 people had to rake the Autumn Leaves outside my window.

  • everyday realizing how much i love the piano!

  • Great piano genius...

  • it's in Cm?

  • @MrMakerxD No, in Gm. But the first chord is Cm7 though. But many jazz players play this tune in Em or Dm... Edith Piaf's version is in Bm if I recall correctly. Anyway the key doesn't really matter, when you're a jazz player you're supposed to know how to play any tune in any key ;-)

  • @virgilus999 I believe the song is in G major, not the relative minor of Bm. The song is unusual in that it moves around the circle of fifths to reach the key at the end of the first eight bars. That said, I can see an argument for Bm.

  • @Flugulate No, it's definitely in G minor. But you can end the song on a Bb Major chord to create a cool effect though . Here are the chords by the way : (each bar is 4 times). First part (A) : Cm7 - F7 - BbMaj7 - EbMaj7 - Am75b - D7 - Gm - Gm (G7). Second part (B) : Am75b - D7 - Gm7 - Gm7 - Cm7 - F7 - BbMaj7 - BbMaj7 - Am7b5 - D7 - Gm7 F#7 - Fm7 E7 - EbMaj7 - D7 - Gm.

  • Comment removed

  • @virgilus999

You could add some transition chords, for example : Cm7 - (F#75b) - F7 - BbMaj7 - (E by tunes) - EbMaj7.... There are many other chords and scales you can place. For me the best piano performance is made by Bill Evans. (but for me He IS the best piano player... ).

  • @Flugulate And the structure is AAB obviously! ;-)

  • Holy Crap

  • you might like this too: watch?v=vSzYHSaIS0o

  • Wow there are at least 102 people I never want to meet! They do not know music!

  • what time sig is this in

  • Check this guy out. SWEET stuff. youtube.com/watch?v=RDWmsBM1Kb4&feature=channel_video_title

  • Je like mais d'un façonnnnnnnnnnn :) ;)

  • This is Jazz! -> awsome bassline on the doublebass!

  • o keith faz magica ao piano

  • swing daddi o

  • aaaaah what a relaxing and spectacular piece :)

  • lady gaga is a good musician and knows basic theory knowledge. once you get into jazz then your getting into diminished augmented and many modulation chords and substitutes. jazz musicians brains are huge calculators that can think of thousands of note combinations instantaneously while they're jammin the fuck out! hell yea for jazz

  • @silkstrings9420 WTF, Lady Gaga doesn't make good music at all, lets just say that.

  • @MrZulu2065 and lets add something to make her seem even worse, I don't think that she have made even one (good/famous) song. And all the songs that made her famous was made by RedOne.

  • @MrZulu2065 Agreed!

  • Comment removed

  • @silkstrings9420 Keith doesn't think. Keith just plays.

  • @silkstrings9420 It sucks how jazz artists aren't as famous... Funny world we live in.

  • @Gammodore that's a no brainer.because people like pleasure and jazz annoys the ears a lotta of the time...it's overwrought and not easy like ...say eating candy or listening to easy sounds

  • @TheRobertEllismusic Exact opposite for me. Growing up it was almost all I listened to. I can't stand the mainstream stuff now. This is easy listening for me because I understand it.

  • @silkstrings9420

    i play it in Dm7,sounds cool:D

    thank you for advise;)

  • DeJohnet is where its at

  • The thing to judge in any jazz artist is, does the man project and does he have ideas.

    100 people are clueless.

  • - F....................K

  • whoever dislike this needs to question their mental health!

  • estom fargaga om brasha - i dont know what the the fuck that means probably like this dude - TOTALLY OF THE PLANET IN HIS OWN UNIVERSE. Genius in the true sence

  • estom fargaga om brasha - i dont know what the the fuck that means probably like this dude - TOTALLY OF THE PLANET IN HIS OWN UNIVERSE.

  • Always kills me when pop artists say they have 'written' a piece of music.

They have usually sing a tune to someone who knows music and who

can sit down and arrange it. Jazz musicians do this all the time every time they play.

  • Why would someone mention Lady gaga or any pop artist in a Jazz video ?

  • @gagaga561 cuz they're morons

  • @gagaga561 you just did it !!!

  • @gagaga561 why did you do it?

  • @gagaga561

    cause because

    SUPERBE, merci !

  • And I thought my trio played this tune pretty well based on comments. There is no words to describe that version. Just listen people, 200% power of pure improvisation is here.

  • Extremely nice!!!

  • 99 people listen to popmusic.

  • @Pleiodes what is wrong with listening pop?

  • @MetalRockMusicRecord I think nothing is wrong with them. Just some people needs to be more tolerant. Of course when I saw Just in Beerer ;) in the same category as Esperanza Spalding I found this situation quite difficult to be very tolerant xD

  • @MetalRockMusicRecord Pop music Sucks ^^

  • Kiitos paljon

    BangkokJussi

    Taimaan kuningaskunta

  • пицца..

  • Я тоже так умею если сильно нажрусь..

  • it's also interesting how jarret mostly plays the changes, chromatically or diatonically, very rarely resorting to substitutions...

  • Comment removed

  • simply perfect!

  • One Evans song I really like "A Person I knew. Towner, McCandless, Moore,

and Walcott, otherwise known as Oregon. I thought you were pulling my

    chain, after all.

  • Jarrett is certainly a master. Do I like his vocalizations? NO! Is he an arrogant AH? YES! I like his playing, though. I like the fact that he's doing standards, when everyone else is doing their own shitty, boring, uninteresting originals. It's always amusing to see the amount of vitriol he generates on YouTube-:)

  • "is this music?.I don't hear a melody. Is this a song???...Aren't there

words to this??it just sounds like they are playing random notes to me.

    no beat. Wow."

  • @spoildn8410 maybe you're tone deaf; have your hearing checked..

  • @TaliaBGerber .Now, who's kidding who. Out of Jarrett, Hancock, Thelonious, Chick Corea, Lyle Mays, and Ralph Towner, my favorite is Towner, but they are all world-class.

I can't believe anyone fell for that gag.

    .

  • @spoildn8410 Good one! After all, it's a Jarrett comment list. How does Bill Evans fit into your list of favorites?

  • f*¿??)( genious! (L)

  • @giovannibulgari you've never played one eighth note that swinging in your whole life.

  • @jazzboken

I can post if you want to hear it, I play new york style

  • @giovannibulgari

I've actually just uploaded a shit slideshow with me playing just because your comment pissed me off.

  • Dude's got one scary thumb on that right hand of his. Badass nonetheless.

  • yeah still kicks, was going to reply the same as KDfrieds but would have included Kenny Kirkland and Chick Corea

  • and displaced triplets (halfway through the bar) at 2:48

  • only thing I dont like about Jarrett is his predictability rhythmically, the solo is based solely on two-quavers patterns. Apart from runs like 3:22 or 4:24 obviously....

  • @giovannibulgari Who's better than Jarret in your opinion? I'm honestly asking, you sound like you know what your talking about.

  • @a5dr3 bill fucking evans

  • @joerois404d

    ya right ray ray

  • @a5dr3 I don't believe either one of these musicians are better then one another, but for more of a rhythmic variety I'd go with Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, Kevin Hays....etc.

  • @giovannibulgari silly

  • "Think key not chord"

  • Molto bello !!!!

  • ew gross at his noises. ruined the solo

  • Autumn leaves..... I love it....

  • :D...just :D *_*

  • nadherne

  • love this........... yeah........

  • @ 2:34... WTH LOL.

The background yelling is really annoying.

  • Keith is brilliant, but I prefer a more melancholy take on this song.

  • it's impossible what happening to me because of this video!!i'm watchin it every day for 2 years and i still addicted !!!he's a god of music !!love u keith :)

  • I start typing 'autumn leaves' and autofill brings up 'autotune'... what is the world coming to? :(

  • I know one reason and it''s not this persons fault, this is on someones edgar allen poe playlist and I HAD TO GET UP TO SHUT IT OFF CAUSE IT IS KEEPING ME AWAKE and doesn't along on this thing

  • ik,heb,ggnet,door,hun,werk,zelfde,patienten,believe,them,zitten,meer,dan,5jaar,daar,ex,junkie,is,verplicht,te,komen,no,baas,own,life,zielig,58,ze,pikt,t,ik,niet,vriendin,ook,niet

  • Yeah it good but i think his improvisation is a bit weird and his block chord or is the quality of the recording fault

  • try this, young folks ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @thefearlessfrog this is not about being young or old, its a matter of taste and not knowing whats available ....let them hear what they want to hear, we all grow up eventually.

  • @thefearlessfrog I try, and I emphasize try. But masters like Keith Jarrett can't be equaled.

  • DeJohnette is so dirty! Damn!
