I just Purchased a Black Corso...and I named him Midnight....After My main man!....Look at that close, and 2007 Sprint was even better. He had a weird career in my view, but non the less he took care of business when the chips were down. 6-8 Furlongs seems I guess his Ballpark ability. I could very well be WAY off. He will always be a champion in my eyes. LUTE!.
This horse won back to back on synthetic and dirt tracks in this race. This feat may never be duplicated considering Santa Anita can not afford any more wash outs caused by synthetics inability to hold H20.
This horse was so imposing with his size and giant strides just like a locomotive unstoppable when clear and given the green light!
synthetics are made to hold water. That's why it's called "all weather" It's their drainage system. With dirt/mud, you don't care whether it drains or not. You can run if it's flooded. the problem is the way it drains water with the synthetic material. You cannot seal a synthetic track like you can a dirt track so you rely more on the drainage system.
Midnight Lute! Luuute! Luuuuuute!!! I love this horse..from out of tha cloudz.. Although he beat a so-so field BC day he sure can run down any horse at this distance.. Midnight Lute can run the last quarter in 23 and change.. But not as fast as Silky Sullivan back in the old dayz at Santa Anita. CONGRATZ to tha Two-Tme BC Sprinter in America...
Silky Sullivan was a great horse. But he never won one of the classics. And if you look at the old charts, he never ran 6 furlongs under 1:09. Regardless if he closes in 21 and 4/5, he'd be SECONDS behind Midnight Lute. And I think Lute is going to be sprinter of the year. 1:07 flat on the biggest stage? Easy. The biggest mistake I made was making a $10 WPS when it should've been a $50 Win.
Midnight Lute is a monster, but I wonder if the results would have been different if Cost of Freedom or the BEST sprinter of 2008 stayed sprinting and didnt attempt the Triple Crown Trail.
Im gonna go ahead and crown Bob Black Jack the 2009 sprinter right now.
Oh my goodness! Did you see that stride on Midnight Lute? What a run! I picked him to win out of sentiment (I love his daddy), but he is truly a freak! I read somewhere that Baker - Fatal Bullet's trainer - said, dazed, that he couldn't believe his horse went 1:07 and change over six furlongs and STILL got beat. Talk about a comeback. 2 starts this season (one in which he finished 10th) and he's still a major contender in the sprint division Eclipse Awards! Wow...just wow!
Curlin Is Done, or you can say he cant beat Euro's, well atleast not now, european horses have late flashing speed, and the pro-ride was their home advantage. Does anyone think something different?
I think something different - I think your a dick. Curlin just got beat by a better horse that day - case closed. Doesn't mean he's done. Your done dick.
Dont talk like a punk ass bitch if you dont know what your talking about asswipe. The horse has one bad race and your saying he's done. Your done you pussy. If I ever meet you I'll bitch slap you. Stick that up your piehole.
Midnight Lute ran against average New York and California-class American sprinters. Throw in some Zia, Turfway, Presque Isle, and Woodbine-class, too. And he's a monster. 1:07 flat on string rubber carpet "Pro-Ride?" That's just nasty. Curlin looks like a Brahma bull now. And he was racing against a younger, fresher colt that had 150 lbs+ less weight to drag around for two minutes. Pro-Ride is the only reason. Asmussen will push to go to Hanshin and race the Japan Cup Dirt.
If dominant champions like Midnight Lute can win on pro-ride, overcome a lone start (10th place) this year and a hock injury, so can Curlin. The 10 million man really has no excuse. Congrats to Midnight Lute!!
What Camera Angles!!!.....Great coverage of this race. That camara view going down the backstretch was sweet. Fatal Bullet Longshot?...Lol.

A moronic statement. Some horses like synthetic and some don't "overcoming"???
Plus I think Curlins Classic field was INFINITELY tougher than this very very very very weak sprint field
