There is a special place for panama lewis and resto in hell, a deep, dark, smelly, hellhole has their names on it. May they burn in hell together along with bob arum and don king.
This piece of shit luis resto was a few days short of his 28th birthday, thats way old enough to know right from wrong. He is no less guilty than panama lewis of this heinous act. I hardly doubt panama lewis held a gun to his head in the locker room and made him do all the wrong he did. They say luis resto is as dumb as a doorknob but thats no excuse for what he did. So for all you fucktards saying "oh i can't help but feel sorry for resto" are nothing but sorry excuses for human life as well.
There's no way Resto could have been a champion, even if he fought with loaded gloves in every fight. You can see in the first two rounds that his defense is putrid. Of course, it didn't matter in this fight since Collins couldn't come forward without being killed. Between the padding and the plaster, Resto must have been hitting with the power of a heavyweight. Collins was too tough for his own good.
I don't know if I'm imagining it, but all of Resto's punches are without that 'phiwsh-phwish' sound when he's landing. They all have a dead, thud-like sound. You can tell there was nothing cushioning his hand in the glove.
I equate this to rape. He raped this young man in a very public forum and crippled him as well. Thats what broke Billy. they should have both done life for this or at least had their eyes surgically removed.
Watch in 4:00 mark, Resto's trainer pulls his gloves tight trying to get his knuckles closer to the out side of the leather! They both look around like they are trying to finish him off!
I think Resto just didn't have the brains to consider the consequences of what he was doing, basically assault
but I'm surprised collins didn't notice the tampering because usually you can tell the difference between 12 oz. and 10 oz. let alone fucking plaster of paris
But I really admire this guy, he was a fucking warrior
yall muffuccas need to shut tha fuck up n stop actin like u even give a fuck yall lil niggas wuz hangin around in ur dadas nutsack before he hit puberty when this fight happened u lil bitches r wut 13 14 u wouldn t have known who these doods were if u aint been on youtube talkin like u wuz there or sum shit STFU
Resto along with his corner fucked up by doing that crime, but what about teh fucking father of billy didnt he see his son getting all fucked up? He should have stopped the fight even before the 5th round. He is there to protect his fighter specially if he happens to be his son. This was a crime combined with lack of support for the fighter.
@sorizaga i understand what you are saying but, a lot of trainers and fighers just don't think that way. the swelling on collins face was really bad, but he never went down from a punch and through a lot of the fight he seemed competative. But its just a trajedy all around
Resto cried on the HBO special saying he could have been a Champion? NEVER! He would have been wasted had this been a fair fight, with plaster and little to no padding in the gloves, and Collins corner should have thrown in the towel, Panama Jackass needs to get his ass beat, Id love to do it for free!
at the :13 mark the comentator says something, i think he says "he's 13 and 0 against resto" is he saying that they've faught 13 times before this or am i hearing it wrong?
he was saying like irish billy collins from tennessee, 13 and 0, versus resto he was saying that was his record and he was fighting luis resto that was there only fight
I know the "raging bull story" watched him fight sugar ray robinson on here even. But none of his accomplishments have any impact on her being a knowledgeable commentator. Not that a woman couldn't do it its just obvious she she shouldn't be. It gives a definite feeling of sub-amateur fight. My mom likes to watch the fights with my dad but I wouldn't want her giving her "professional opinion" of the fight. Understand what I am saying?
Ha! Ha! yeah, i know what you're saying and i agree with you. In fact, Jake was getting on my nerves more than she was. They did the Duran-Moore fight as well.
Dont get me wrong its not you I had a problem with no matter with your stance. You're a fan like I am. I just thought the coverage could've been much better. Too bad a great contender turned (mostly by Management) to taking a low road to win. The fans of the sport just want to 2 see a a miracle anyways. You know? We have all been pushed into a corner and need 2 find our way way out. thats boxing! I know you get this.
I'm not saying he did or didn't . How do you know? Everyone seems to believe Duran was maybe the best ever. I don't see it, but he was very good. Maybe he didn't cheat. All I'm saying is that Panama Lewis was a cheater and it just makes me wonder about those hands of stone.
@bb62g There is a huge difference between Resto's punching power and Duran's. The reason why this fight was weird was because of how soft Luis hits. Duran was a murderous puncher regardless.
i imagine panama "helped" all his fighters, or most of em anyway. noone can honestly think that this was the first and last time he ever did anything like this. watching interviews and the doc about this fight it seems like panama's a shady character. i bet he done anything he could to give his fighter the edge. he's not in it for the sport, he's in it for the money. it does make you wonder tho. does anyone know who all he has cornered? alot of big names?
I started this whole thing off by saying it is a damn shame that his cheating could besmirch the greatness of Roberto Duran. It puts a whole new context on the "Hands of Stone" moniker. I completely agree with you that he'd do anything it took for any fighter to achieve the desired outcome for his gangster friends, whether that be making sure his fighter wins or loses.
4:04, you can see Panama Lewis pull up Resto's gloves, like a father helping his son with pants that dont fit. What a shame! Both of them knew about the gloves, Resto's just more remorseful, right b4 4:04, Collins says "Mother F*cker hits hard"

HOW COME NO ONE WAS CHECKING THE GLOVES AT THAT TIME? TAMPERING WITH BOXING GLOVES IS POSSIBLE EVER SINCE THEY EXIST!

I don't know how they didn't realize the difference in injuries of both boxers by this time... it was kind of obvious aswell.

poor collins, fighting for his life, luis resto and P. lewis can go both to hell for what they did ...
but i also think his father fucked it up big time for not stoping the fight, he must have felt guilty as well, at least if i was the father i would.

Who would win.. Margarito or Resto? Lol
TonySlick69 2 years ago
The ref should have stopped the fight going into the 8th round.
The swelling around the eyes was so bad, in NO WAY should Collins have been allowed to continue from that point onwards, in NO WAY.
Resto and his trainer should have served hard years in prison for this. Attrocious. And the commentators are just sick.
