When Villagers played this at Shepherd's Bush I was right at he front and I just cried and cried. Conor saw me and smiled when the song was over. Best gig of my life.
Even though they're lyrically different and are very different vocally, Conor O'Brien reminds me a lot of a happier sounding Conor Oberst (who I am a huge fan of, btw :P) They even look a little alike. Just an observation from someone who has just fallen madly in love with this artist XD
Saw Villagers 16/2/2011 at a special Q magazine event, we shed a tear at this one.... totally lovely and cant wait for the Shepherds Bush gig in April!
Conor: We were lucky enough to see you and the band in Boston on 11-4-10 (driving 2hrs from Hartford) and you brought your insight and depth of feeling to that show. Your group hug offstage before it all began prepared me for what what was to come, something deep, heartfelt, important. I've been listening to music for many years; Villagers are something special -- I'm grateful that I can now proclaim to have seen Conor J O'Brien in concert early in his career. Your album is masterful, thank you.
I know I'm gonna be by far the minority so don't go too harsh on me but I actually found this really boring and musically it's just so repetitive. To me it sounds like a good busking act
it looks like hes trying to be like conor obrest a little too much(song styles), even the the guitar riff is the same as one of his songs lol apart from that it aint bad !
@bigjapen9 I know what you mean about Oberst, as soon as I first heard him I recognised the similarity, even his name is near identical. But I suppose that can't be helped, at the end of the day Oberst is a fine musician, as is O'Brien. If he apes him slightly that's just unfortunate, he's still producing beautiful music, which at least in the mainstream, is a rarity these days so fair play to him. Keep up the good work Irish Conor. x
I'd love to know what guitar and string's he's using, I think it's nylon strings but I'm not sure! Anyone see Jools Hollad, when he had the center hole gaffa-taped up? Great voice, great songs. He sings with so much emotion!
i love how the light on the building behind him turned on above his head on the first line :) he had an idea!
this song is gorgeous.
