Ah,the wonderful, unforgettable eighties and the golden age of MTV.Back in 1983 me and my sister spent the summer sitting in front of the TV watching MTV for hours.Listening to bands like Joe Jackson,Hall and Oates,Journey,Culture Club,The Police,Flock of Seagulls,The Go-Gos,Men at Work, and the list goes on and on.I will never forget those times.
No flashy, jarring beginning, no sudden, jarring end, just smooth all through. Song just seamlessly fades in, plateaus and just as seamlessly fades out. Beautiful to hear!
This is my all time favorite song! I remembered it from when I was 3 or 4 and since then heard it once in a great while on the radio or in a store, but never could figure out the name or the artist, it drove me crazy! I would get all hysterical asking anybody and everyone around, what the name of this song was. Nobody knew! It wasn't until 2006 when someone FINALLY told me it was Joe Jackson! Steppin Out is my happy place song =)
@trinidad72779 You are SOOOOOO correct!!! I would listen to this ever-so-often... and NOBODY knew the name of the song!!!! I wasn't until a few years ago that I go to know that this was by Joe Jackson!!!! One of the greatest songs!!!!!
@trinidad72779 another song that is a "wonder" is Howard Jones "No One Is To Blame".... THey sure don't make songs like this anymore... And who can forget "Africa" from Toto. Steppin'' Out: truly a "happy place" song!
@cutlass802008 OMG so have I :o just literally found it after hearing it on GTA vice city, i didnt know the words or anything, so glad i finally found it!
Back in those days you could look like a Microsoft .I.T Tech playing a piano you didn't have to have skinny jeans and long shaggy Beiber hair to make you're mark on music
Wow, I was actually thinking of a different Joe Jackson song (and I'm still not sure which one it actually is) when I clicked this, but I immediately recognised it as I'm pretty sure it played on the radio station my mom used to listen to when I was a kid in the '80s. Haven't heard it in at least twenty years I think.
You know, when you look at Joe Jackson, the first thought that comes to mind is that this guy just doesnt fit the mold of the 80's look but damn, this song is just totally awesome beyond magical proportions! And so it makes up for it all! hahaha :-D But that was the awesome thing about the 80's, any look just fit. It really did. I remember sitting out by the river with my walkman on listening to this song or skating to it at the rink. Best days of my life and best memories. I sure miss it. :-(
@thecarebearhideaway I think the look fits to the 80s,its the society look which was also used by the Mexican star Jose Jose or also Julio Iglesias...
@platadeluna I agree. If you read my comment I did say that with the 80's any look fit. I was only saying that compared to say, Human League for example, Joe Jackson looks completely out of place when you think of 80's hair, makeup and fashion BUT he is one awesome dude with such awesome songs and he has a classic look which just fits any decade really. :-)
I don't know what city you live in but I never hear this on the radio anymore and I listen to a lot of stations that play 80s music. Whenever I hear songs like this i think of my dad driving me to school while i'm half-asleep. He always used to listen to the same station that played this kind of music.
I remember this song from when I was a little kid. I was probably 7 or 8 when this was big. I didnt know who did it, but I'd hear it now and again on the speaker music at the store ort something and it would get stuck in my head and drive me crazy. Fianally, it came on my pop's satellite radio one day and had the artist;s name, and now I can hear it whenever I like! This song is great!
im looking at this obama election ad on this vid, and it says "are you in?"... im trying to figure out what it means... it sounds like its asking me if i want to participate, but accepting the goverment isnt voluntary, so it must be asking me if im going to participate in the voting... or maybe its saying if i dont vote, theyre going to kill me... no surely not... perhaps its asking me if im inside my house.. maybe its asking me if im in trouble.. yes, we are all in big trouble
Great song Great video! Brings back memories. This song came out in Nov. 82. when I signed up for the us Navy and seeing the world. The 80's were the best!
@jaytonparish ...You're doing what many other have. Just because someone -1 a video doesn't mean they hate it. It could be the video quality or maybe the title is mislabeled (wrong version of song = -1)
