I thoroughly enjoyed the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and cant wait for the Summer Olympics in London. I think this Olympic games will be historic in showing not only how wonderful London is, but that the self-deprecating negative stereotype is a facade to a truly patriotic, wonderful and welcoming people.

sorry guys but most of you are wrong. UK is made up of 4 countries. England is a country in its own right. The UK is not actually a country. It's a United collection of 4 separate countries. Because England is a state of the United Kingdom but in the Olympic games however we compete as 'Team Great Britain which includes England, Scotland and Wales. ignorance seems to be bliss in your case.

If it's separate on the domestic front, like in football, separate national teams can represent the four nations of the UK, if its Britain wide, i.e there is only one governing body, there is only one team. It's made more confusing by the fact that the British nations compete separately at the Commonwealth Games
