i gotta tell you. it is not easy to ride in the back of a rescue truck going to a call. ESPECIALLY when your driver does not realize there are not speed bumps on the road your on
@robertgift and also, they were in the opposite lane, if you are referring to the green signal at the beginning. Most times, you can turn right on a red signal. So the fact of the right on red+going into the other lane=SIRENS
@robertgift Agreed, but at same time, it can all come down to the "were the sirens on" in a court case. God forbid something should ever happen, that then entails a court case or investigation, but where i run, if those lights are on, those sirens better be going...however if it is 2 in the morning, no, not down the street, but like at an intersection? a quick (not full wind-up) of the Q and 1 or 2 horn blows and ur good
@twit101 Thank you. When approaching intersections where I cannot tell (see) if traffic is approaching, I have the siren blaring. But I STILL NEVER RELY ON IT being heard!!
If I can SEE that no traffic is approaching, I do not sound it. (Or if all traffic has stopped and is blocking other traffic, I instantly stop the blare by pressing the P.A. key on the microphone.)
Here we see thatraffic has stopped. Yet all the noise pollution for going through a GREEN signal? Ridiculous.
@ChathamFireDeptfan a lot of volunteer fire departments, like mine, cant afford gps systems. they have map books where the names of the streets are alphabetized and the maps are organized in different pages. these books have hydrant locations and allow you to see the best route for approach when you get on scene. they also have a book for the apartment complexes in the area (again with marked hydrant spots and best approach route). you end up knowing the streets like the back of your hand.
its the best attension grabber cause people dont know what the sound is so they look and then they see the red lights then they say ''o i should pull over'' but half dont.
and its guys with THAT attitude that give the Q bad name...its not meant to be "pinned" as for the "weu weu"s its a powercall...NFPA tested as the best attention grabber made

I do drive emergency vehicles.
The vehicles at the intersection were already aware of the EVs and stopped.
Yet thengineer or officer continues to needlessly blast his horn at them.
All this noise pollution for going through a GREEN signal. Laughable and ridiculous.
robertgift 7 months ago
one question... why was a rescue due before an engine to a structure fire.?
iBreathSCBA13 7 months ago
Why do show arrival athe scene?
Why siren and airhorn for a GREEN signal?
robertgift 10 months ago
@robertgift just because the light is green doesnt mean someone will attempt to cut them off
granvilledrummer 7 months ago
@granvilledrummer Yaah. Someone will pull into the intersection throught their RED signal and collide with the vehicles with the green signal.
See the pickup with green signal remaining stopped for the fire apparatus? He also will suddenly pull into their path.
robertgift 7 months ago
@robertgift you sir, have apparently 1) never driven a piece of fire apparatus to the scene and 20 NEVER, EVER, EVER seen someone run a red light

@robertgift Everyone does it just to piss you off, so you can be a dick to everyone who doesnt do things your way. Pick one.

@CTFD13 Thoughtful professionals do not. They sound the siren only as needed.
When people hear too many sirens they get tired of hearing them and some ignore them.
We already see the big red firetruck. No need to keep yelling that it is approaching.

We have map books that all stations make using Microsoft Visio and GIS data. Also it wasn't food on the stove it was a fire in a bedroom.
