  • Thank you for posting this, upandopen.

  • @NobelMan1000 Hitchens is an anti-Zionist. If you search for [hitchens israel] on YouTube, all the videos you will find are of him condemning Israel.

  • @NobelMan1000 hitchens also condemns radical christians and jews. He condemned Jerry Falwell's views on zionism

  • President Ronald Reagan was correct we need Strategic Defense Initiative

  • Chris Hitchens is great but he drinks like a fish and he was probably a tad faded in this video.

  • @graemealee LOL!

  • good video

  • Iran will probably vaporize Israel on a Tuesday? Maybe even a Thursday, just like Iraq was gona do until we stopped them......

Higher oil prices + arms sales here we come. So excited!

Oh and just a quick message for the Muslims. Go home and die.

  • Hitchens believes a certain intensity of totalitarianism demands to be addressed aggressively, with the option of military intervention always at the ready; and that anyone who disagrees is either unusually callous or has no idea what it is like to live under such conditions; and that it would be better that hundreds of thousands of lives be lost to break up the worst of these kinds of regimes than that people should be hopelessly left to continue living under them. I tend to agree with him.

  • @greatsea woutd this not-so-theoretical policy of aggressive intervention have any variation in it, if the state that was to do the intervention was directly responsible for the creation of the totalitarian dictatorship that it was saying that it wants to overthrow? Hitchens ought to be reminded that it was CIA/MI6 that /directly/ funded Saddam, directly destroyed the old /elected/ Iraqi government, and placed Saddam Insane onto his throne.

  • @greatsea Yes, that's because YOU won't die and it's easy to come up with theories that declare the end of - i qoute you- "hundreds of thousends of lives" inevitable. But am I the only one who thinks that it is immoral to accept so many deaths, particularly with regard to the fact that it often doesn't work out the way we wanted it. I would be very happy if iraq would manage it to become and stay a real democracy but i can't bring myself to really believe in it.

  • @greatsea I've come to understand his position better as I read more of his work. But I don't know if I can agree with the invasion of Iraq, I am open to new ideas but this is one of the few cases where I disagreed completely with him.

  • @funknotik "...don't know if I can agree with the invasion of Iraq..."

Try this scenario on for size and let's see if it can help you focus: You, baseball bat in hand, have snuck up behind Saddam Hussein who is on the phone about to give the order to surround with land mines and torch 700 Kuwaiti oilfields which would result in the burning of around 6 millions barrels daily for around 10 months.

  • @greatsea but success isnt contingent on the morality of the matter, which is where i disagree w him.Trying to impose some model revered&amenable in a certain part of the world onto another can prove very disastrous, its just the sort of anti-postmodern ethos that's endemic after 911,the one-size fits all solution.Despite our best intentions, humans are really bad at the execution of goodwill;its interesting hitchens can be so right on religion in that respect, yet myopic to it in fpolicy

  • ROBOT! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

  • As an atheist, I've watched Hitchens in many videos. I think he should stick to science because he flunks the political arena.

I have friends in Beirut and what Hitchens says is a lie. I also just watched another video with Scott Ritter, former weapons inspector who also pointed out what Hitchen's says is a lie about Iran.

I'm increasingly losing respect for Hitchens.

  • amen to that.

I think that Hitchens is blinded by his hate for religion to the point that he'll think any ill of any state that uses religion in their government, regardless of any facts.

  • I'm just not seeing the logical foundation of Chris' political philosophy. Why do we have to make these other nations' affairs our business? Does he think there might be more oil in it for us?

  • Well, oil would be reason enough.

However, I think whats in it for us is obvious. Not only "us" in the sense of the United States and western civilization, though we would greatly benifit from ending this nuclear threat (as would surrounding countries). If you meant "us" from a humanitarian standpoint it becomes increasingly obvious... over-throwing sadistic dictators, liberating oppressed people, equal rights, an end to theocracy. Yes i think there is a great deal in it for "us".

  • I'd sum it up thus: He'd like to see the end of power structures that are able to take advantage of credulity...Be they religious or statist.

I don't know if I agree with his stance that attacking those countries is the best way to proceed, though.

I'd prefer to lead by example, rather than by force.

  • @caltrop69 Yes, that sure worked with Hitler now didn't it.

  • @321lawc:

Hitler led by example, rather than by force?

That's probably one of the most absurd statements I've seen in a while.

  • As in, you can't lead Hitler by example.

  • No...But if you've got an arsenal that could blow his country to hell, you can be sure he'll leave you alone.

  • Not if they think they're going to get 72 virgins and usher in the 12th imam. Dying doesn't matter when you're going to heaven.

  • Hitler believed in 72 Virgins? Thought he was a Catholic, or something.

  • @gaglir You mean "Christopher."

  • It's quite a scary thought to realise how few places this world has where there is no chaos, no crazy dictators, no wars.

This is an insane world we all live in. Insane!

  • And finally his ridicules predications about next middle east war which is supposed to take place in Lebanese soil and will involves Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Israel! it sounds more like a childish dream to me. and I bet in his dream Isreal will come out victorious!

  • What did he say that was "nonsense"?

  • 2. he claims he was in Beirut the other day and hes seen hizbullahs new symbol is mushroom cloud. If that news was true, their photos would have been on the first page of every western newspapers. Where is it? Why there isnt even a dime news about it? what does he actually know that the rest of world doesn't know? he is again lying to make his point

  • The mushroom cloud flag has been wtinessed by a few other reporters--I appreciate the request for evidence, as it has not been photographed...but ...I don't think it's that much of a stretch to expect from a militia of murderers and religious zealouts.

  • yeah right... just keep talking for the sake of talking!.. show me an evidence or else your point is invalid to me. I think, no organisation would want to hide their symbol....so everybody could witness it everyday.

  • Everything he said in this interview.

    1. He says Iran sworn it doesn't seek nuclear weapons but it has been caught in lie? Where? by who? Which international organization has confirmed that? Why does he not mention a name?!!!

    He's obviously lying!!

  • The IEAA, for one....by extension, then...the UN....so essentially, the answer to your question, everyone who isn't Iran.

  • you havin a laugh. aren't u? neither IAEA nor UN have said Iran is developing nuclear weapon, That's a lie!. where do you get your news!! CNN or Fox news? or u r not living in the same world.

  • 3. he says Iran intends to use nuclear weapons as blackmail against Sunni neighboring states like Bahrain!!. Firstly Bahrain is not Iran neighbor secondly 70% of its population is Shia muslims. how does he get his facts I don't know but he should get them right before making such allegation.

  • Christopher often looks as though he's taking a monstrous shit.

  • He looks pretty fucked up in this vid. Maybe drunk or high, still proved his point better than I could sober.

  • Well said

  • @funknotik well he said he was biten by a spider so..

  • @funknotik no he said earlier in the video that he was bitten by a spider sometime before this and so he's still sickly due to that.

  • @funknotik

He's been bitten by a poisonous spider and beaten up in Syria, don't you listen?

  • @funknotik

He has insisted that he doesn't drink before speaking or debating. He's not drunk, he's just kind of unhealthy at this time.

Also, he does not smoke weed or do any other drug than alcohol (He quit cigs a few years ago). So don't suggest he was high, he's never been high. He has said he has always viewed it as a form of excape-ism.

If you think that saying stupid shit like this is a compliment, you're wrong.

  • @Parmeniscus He often had a glass of scotch while speaking before his illness took hold and I'm told he still drinks against the wishes of his doctors. Also he mentioned he had been in an altercation and bitten by a spider. You must be a Hitchens noob if you haven't seen that. I just pwned you now shut the fuck up and have a laugh I was being comedic.

  • @Parmeniscus Yeh I agree, there's always somebody saying something along those lines and it pisses me off. I think it's probably the terminal cancer that is unknowingly destroying his esophagus.

  • @funknotik He was poisoned by a spider bite... he mentions it in his opening comment in part 1

  • @funknotik jetlagged most likely; being a foreign correspondent

  • @funknotik

he was bitten by a poisonous spider

  • WHY DONT YOU GUYS TALK ABOUT ISRAEK NUKES, what about people living in gaza, why Israel should have nukes, why US helps India to have modern nuk

  • because they're not theocracies with an insane leader that's promised to use it to destroy another nation, for the sole reason of being jewish.

so, until muslim theocracies snap out of this dream that the rest of the world is gonna let them get nukes, we're gonna talk about them and what would happen if they would get them.

trust me when i say, i'm gonna be shouting in glee in the streets, much like muslims did when whining about danish cartoons, when iran gets invaded and/or carpet-bombed.

  • Insane leader, what about BUSH;)

i think we should stop it right here u have no idea what are u talking about we dont need to talk.

  • stop what right here, we never talked, you shouted out a question and i answered it.

you're trying to take some high ground here by claiming you understand something better then me.

    bush insane?

    i doubt that.

he's a horrible president, that's for sure, he's using way too much god-speech in his public appearances, but is it because he's actually religious or is it because he knows most of america is, who's to say.

    he's not insane though.

  • Suck it? Well there ya go. I'm glad he is and not you.
