One of things I always disliked about Rome Total War was the rebellions, it was so annoying. If you had a huge city, with every entertainment building and the the whole garrison filled with soldiers, the city would still rebel against you. Having the capitol far away made some sense, but I simply can't figure out squalor. There was no way to fight it, it was like an universal constant or something. Best you could do was to keep an army nearby, ready to retake the town when it revolted.

@tofuloveyouto So you move the troops away from the city when the rebellions start to provoke a revolt? That could work, though you'd need a big garrison to take it back as the rebel forces are often numerous and experienced.

@bezdelnicar Bullshit! The spartans are unstopable in close quarters. Only if you attack them at back. I put the Spartans in phalanx and Cataprachts were mopped on the spears and get owned like a BITCHES!!!

@allforable if you are good stragetist you can win with spartans,also you can win with cataphracts,depends on tacticts and terrain,but don't forget upkeep for cataphracts is only 140 denarii per turn and charge is soo powerfull

Rome > Empire > Medieval 2 > Shogun 2

I never played Napoleon, but I heard it's quite an improvement from Empire.

I don't see why a lot of people don't like Empire, I mean cmon, if you don't like 18 century warfare then why the hell would you get it. I thought it was good.

Shogun 2 was just...eh... the entire new multiplayer, I had to get used too...

I STILL play Rome to this day. I don't know if they should make a Rome 2, if they do, just update the graphics and thats it.

I hear lots of people complaining about empire and napoleon. I mean yeah they are buggy and not really good compared to all the other tws but I would still prefer them over almost any other game out there. The total war games are simply so awesome. Shogun 2 is a big step up from empire and napoleon and has actually good a.i for being a tw. ;) Let's just hope the next one is Rome 2!!! :) Rome is infact the best game ever made.

Sometimes when I was in a tough battle with the tense music playing I squeezed my private area continually....kinda like when you have to pee when you are little. It was done out of anticipation/nervousness/excit­ement.

Ex:

Mouse hand: "click, click, select, select, click drag, select...' etc.

Left hand on lap: "quick squeeze, quick squeeze, quick squeeze...' etc.

Firestones were not that accurate, in the finished game they were pretty much useless since it was impossible to hit anyone. I so hate that CA never released new updates to this game after december 2005. There are still many bugs and glitches in the game.

The ONLY thing i didn't like about RTW were the Roman family names... Really? If they did any research on the families, they would know that Scipio and Brutus are Cognomen, not the names of the families. The Scipii should have been the Cornelii, and the Brutii should have been the Junii.

At least they got the Julii correct instead of, god forbid, calling them the "Caesarii"

its EXTREMELY frustrating in the campaign,of how your enemies doesnt have to follow any of the rules they made themselves.they can have few tiny cities and pop out a 20 squads massive army in like 2 turns.or they can have few cities and have 7 full armies and doesnt go bankrupt.or they have unlimited man supply and money to send huge armies to attack you over and over no matter how much you kill.it would be nice if they can tweak that in future games

I have a problem, my specs are: Geforce 250 gts, 6g ram, intel core2 duo cpu, E8400 @3.00GHz, which is more than enough to play even most modern games, however, whenever i play barbarian invasion, it lags in battle (even small ones) to around 10-15 fps. anyone know why this is?

when you establish trade with another faction your ships should start trading automaticaly. Then again you must also bear in mind how far away that faction is. If for example i played as the parthians and established trade with the britains, there would be no sea trade. That might help a bit.

@Plpoo I liked all total wars. They re each unique in their own way. Personally i never played empire and napoleon too much even tho they're both really good. I Just like Rome and Medieval 2 (and soon shogun 2 :D) because i'm more of a melee combat type..it seems better to me to see romans butchering gauls or teutonic cavalry charging into heretics with epic music in the background.
