  • how do they dance to music?

  • Awesome show Kenneth!

    Shirley (class of '68)

  • Did you use a Mr. Christmas type set up, or Lights-O-Rama? I want to do a display, but we only have 1 outdoor outlet:(

  • @homegrownkids

This is controlled by LOR One outlet would allow you around 16 amps if a 20 amp breaker.

each stran of mini lights pulls around .4 amps so you could use 40 strings of 100.

This would provide a start. Later you can add circuits.

    Regards,

    Ken

  • I love the last part of it especially when the arches come to life. So cool :)

  • It is on Northfield blvd. between murfreesboro road and 231

  • Does anyone know where in Murfreesboro this is, or when the show starts/ends nightly? I'm going from Chattanooga to Spring Hill next weekend and would LOVE to see this in person.

  • 1918 Hamilton Dr. and I believe it is from 6 or 6:30 to 10 pm.

    Awesome show!

  • This is awsome! I love this song! hopefully the neigbors arn't pissed at ya! lol

  • I go to your show every year. I live close by. It is such a great gift to Murfreesboro. It certainly delights me - so you can imagine how much it delights my daughter. THANK YOU!!! From a Northfield Elem. teacher.

  • WOW! That was very pretty! How long did it take for you to make this?

    Merry Christmas!

  • If anything at all - it's videos such as yours that PROMOTES the sale of Mannheim Steamroller music. I had never even heard of Mannheim Steamroller until I saw the big Christmas light display video of a few years ago. Subsequent, I bought a couple of their cd's - but in light of the stupidity of blocking my use of their many forms of music, not only do I NOT use their music any more,I tell people to not buy their music and and find a lesser known and PROMOTE THEM.But your light display is great

  • I love this. I would love to be able to do this. How do you do this? Is there special equipment that you need to buy? How long does it take to do this. I bet you have to start doing this in October!!! Love it though. Great Job!!!

  • I think your light show with Mannheim Steamroller is beautiful. I'm just curious though - all of my videos containing Mannheim Steamroller music as audio feed was blocked due to copyright infringement. I was wondering how you are able to continue using Mannheim Steamroller music without "infringement". I wrote to Mannheim Steamroller before I put their music in as my background-asking specific permission. But your display is awesome. Love always.

  • Mine was also blocked until recently. But then the block was recended. Actually it sells more albums for them since others will surely want to use their music. It's great for Christmas light shows.

  • Ken you need to move out woodbury highway or something. Your "light traffic" is spilling onto Northfield. LOL, just kidding, thanks for the lights!

  • Very flashy(sorry bad joke, couldn't resist), but i have to ask....How much was your next electricity bill? It must have gone through the roof!

  • Actually it was only about 60.00 for the entire month. Bear in mind since the computerized lights are on and off to the music instead of all on all the time the power consumption is greatly reduced.

  • i think the best part was the lights it lite my day up lol get it

  • mannheim steamroller sucks yo

  • please go somewhere elsehen.

  • <<<again...will be hated!.....but it's america!.....freedom of speach!....you have so many channels of lights!....and all you do is blink them on and off again!....all of them! at one time!....does that make a good show????....some will say it's great!....some will say it's not

I'll take the fifth!.....just not sure which one!

  • Thanks for all the time, money and effort you spend on this light show, Ken! It was great last year but the blue lights with flashing strobes you added this year look just like fireworks! Cool!

  • the best part is the tree i think i was watching that the whole time

  • WOW! It reminds me of Candy Cane Lane in LA where an entire neighborhood has music, animation, lights galore but I've never seen anything with choreographed lights to the music! Bravo! What are you going to do next year? How about a condensed version of The Nutcracker?

  • Looking at the Nutcracker already. :-)

As a boy I liked the March of the Wooden Solders theme.

  • Hey this is really awesome I would like to learn how to do something like this i am totally into computers.

    -jmol

  • Go on line and type Light o Rama, Planet Christmas. All the info you need is there

    Merry Christmas,

    Ken

  • Must be an incredible show. You have more than one song ? I wish I could see this in person. I just sent a copy of the video to my brother who lives in Thompson Station. Maybe they can visit. Thanks for sharing it with us. Merry Christmas to you!!

  • Four songs all together uploaded. Click on "More from KENINTN" to see them.

  • We just saw the new show tonight! It was great! We loved the new flashy blue ligts, which I believe have been added since last year. What is the song that started with "When You Wish Upon a Star" and the crash sound? We thought that was so funny!

Thank you for your service to the community! We love taking our kids several times during the season!

  • Glad you folks had a great time.

The song is a mix of When You Wish Upon a Star (Disney) and Reflections of Earth, (Disney Ebcott).

Reflections was cut from 5 1/2 minutes down to 3 minutes for traffic reasons. I chose it because I like the different beats within the song. Merry Christmas!!

  • This show is such a awsome display! We brought our kids out last night and after seeing your display they were so excited. Thank you for doing this.

  • My Boyfriend and I live down the street from this house. we have seen the show 50+ times and it is just as exciting as it was the first time. Never tought that you could set a bunch of christmas lights to music. Wow.. I know that my Boyfriend wants to start collecting Stuff (ie lights) to do this some day in our yard..Good Job! Hugs to you! your neighbor.

  • glad i don't live next to you.

  • That is absolutely amazing!! How long does all that take you to set up? I definitely want to come to your house for the holidays! Talent beyond compare.

  • Takes about 3 weeks working evenings and weekends to set up. The mega tree takes 4 people about 12 hours to set up. :~)

  • How it works, It's 280 light circuits, 70,000+ lights, 125 strobes controlled by computer activated electrical Switches. The programming is up to the sequence creator (You), make it as simple or complex as you want. You have to tell each light when to come on, how long to stay on. It's kind of like writing a symphony. It takes me 2-3 hours per second of song to program the sequences.

  • it's all a program that controls the lights of the house and when you play the music, the lights change

  • well i'm 73 and i'm just bawling my eyes out. Men turn to females as they get older ya know, read up on Jung :P

  • LOL :) merry christmas!

  • I'm not sure why it happened, but this actually brought tears of joy to my eyes.

And I'm a 52 yr. old guy. Thank You for all your hard work. Merry Christmas to All.

  • I hope you post this year's show. It's even better than last year's! My family and I love this and try to catch it several times before it's gone.

  • Where is that in the Boro. I so want to see it! Its so cool!

  • 1918 Hamilton Drive

  • are you doing this this year bc i live in the boro

  • It's up and running, two new shows.

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Wish I could do that to my house! Some day I will!

  • LOL. Was there a comment about this not being real? It is real. I live about 3 blocks away (over on Ravenwood, Ken) and it is part of our holidays. My kids could live you your front yard! As far as the distracting guy, I am happy that is all there was. Believe me, the worst part of this show is that it is on a very narrow, busy, city street. Thanks for doing this, Ken. I am home from Iraq for two weeks and this will be part of my visit.

  • Glad your family likes the dispaly. And "Thank" you for for defending our Freedom!!!

  • Awesome!!! love the lights and love Mannheim Steamroller!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow this is amazing!! I love how Mannheim Steamroller turns Christams carols into a great songs that you would never even begin to describe how it shows what the carol is really about!

  • Excellent light display. Mannheim Steamroller is one of my favorite groups. 5/5

By the way... who was the one who drove by and ruined the mood at 3:08? >=(

  • It was frustrating trying to film these!! We tried 6-7 different times to record it at dusk and dawn (the best time to get better quality recordings). Could not get a break. This was shot at 3:00 a.m and this guy came up, stopped watched us filming then went right through. :~) We just said to heck with and he's part of it.

  • Well it's a great display regardless of distractions. Are you planning to do anything like this for this year?

...by the way... what's the electric bill? =Þ

    Just kidding.

  • Added two new shows this year, 125 strobes. The electric Bill??? OH.... That. :~)

Lets just say the electric company likes us in December. :-)) Actually not that much more.

  • Mannheim Steamroller has "the best" Christmas music out there.

  • this is real i can say that!!!

because my neighbor almost same as this...many bulb!!

  • This is fantastic !

  • if this is not real..

i know for a fact that there is a guy in ohio that does this. if you tune to a certain radio station it is in sync with his lights... word on the street is its crazy badass

  • Carson Williams in Ohio, and he made Wizards in Winter a household name. He had 25,000 lights and a great set up. This is a world wide thing. Reasearch PLANET CHRISTMAS for some great light displays.

  • without a doubt...this is a computer generated show!.....looks nice....but it is not real!....

  • Trust me, it is very real. This is not computer generated. We spent an entire year designing, building the arches, Munchkin trees and programing the computer animation sequences to the songs. Check out the how to video that shows how we built the leaping light arches. You'll see some pics of it being set up. Ken

  • I am sorry!......you are awesome!.....upon further review..(without alachol involved)....YOU ROCK!...I just wish I could afford all that!...I do bow down to your show!.......(I should quit drinking!..lmao!) Like that will happen!.....

    CONGRATS!..its awesome!

  • Ken...I am wondering..do yo use LOR programing?

  • Yes we do. Great Tech Support from the company, an entire web site Q&A moderated by them. And they back their product 110%!!

  • I can't believe what my eyes are seeing! Is that real? Did you do that yourself? Have you got any website explaining that?

  • I can't believe what my eyes are seeing! Is that real? Did you do that yourself? How many bulbs did you use? You've got any website?

  • It was a family effort and is very real. :-) We had 70,000 plus lights. The mega tree to the right of the house had 10,000 bulbs alone, 240 strands of lights in red, white , and blue. Sorry, haven't had time to build a website on our Christmas light show.

  • Correction,... the mega tree had right at 20,000 lights. :-)
