I watched both this and Marc Broussard singing this live, and while I agree that the song "belongs" to Broussard in a way that it doesn't to Clarkson, it's also undeniable that she TEARS THIS SHIT UP. That's what I love about her--she just loves all over these songs with that voice of hers. I mean, 2:15 - 2:54? Phenomenal live performance. Her covers aren't always "better" than the original, but I've loved most of the ones I've seen so far. Rock it, sister!

I doubt that many artists cover songs because they think they can do it better. If I could sing this song, I'd do it in a heartbeat and to the best of my abilities as a sign of respect. A good, honest effort cover can add a world of new dimensions to the original song.
