  • Do you use a pedal or other? Because i'm looking for an effect like it for my bass!

  • Hi! Can you please tell me how you have the expression pedal plugged in? Using cv or norm? Input1? Thank you! Email: nickit@hotmail.com

  • @ntedesco You need it set to CV mode and use input 2. Also you HAVE to ensure you are using stereo cable. A mono cable will not work.

  • Really cool but needs drums to truly get the impact.

  • @jdsony Check out some of my other videos (full songs) to hear the pedal being used with some beats I've made.

  • hey ive got the same effects ( the fcv and the BSy600) but i cant make the bsy to be expressed by the fcv. how do u connect them?>??

  • @RATMblink182 I've been asked this alot so dont worry you arent alone... You need to run a STEREO cable (very important that it is stereo and not mono) from output 2 on the FCV to the EXP input on the BSY. The FCV also needs to be set to CV mode. Gimme a shout if you still have problems. Or join the OBW Facebook Forum in the description, its a page where about 500 of us all discuss how to make live wobbles.

  • @codemarla thanks alot but then i have to buy one coz i dont think i have a stereo cable...! do i need to make all the conections through stereo cables or just the bsy-fcv one??

  • @RATMblink182 It's just that one. Mono is fine for everything else. Look at the end of your cables. If there is one black line around the end its mono, if there's two then its stereo.

  • Check out the video response I have just added, Its a full track made using this pedal...

  • @codemarla thanks alot man :) it works really good !

  • do you make all your wicked songs with those two pedals?

  • @ZED305 I use a mix of those pedals, a Zoom B2,a Korg AX3000B and some digitally made bass lines too (for when the wobbles need to very extremely accurate). Next week I'm uploading one, maybe two, tracks which feature 100% live bass like in this video. If you want to hear a sample search me on soundcloud and listen to the two "work in progresses" that I've got on there.

  • @codemarla ok will do, does the zoom b2 have a synth sound? i was wondering wether to get either the Behringer synth+expression pedal, or a Zoom b2.1u to get lots of different sounds, but the main one i want is synth so would to behringer be better?

  • @ZED305 yeah it does, I've only managed to get one decent enough sound from it at the mo (synth wise) but its a really good sound so its worth it. I've used it on my track "Hypnotised" which is here on youtube. Its the distorted synth sound on the heavy break down. The BSY600 has 9 synth sounds and 2 LFOs so I'd rate it highly. Nothing else can wobble like it If you are on Facebook search ORGANIC BASS WOBBLE and join our forum of about 400 bassists all dicussing different bass synth sounds.

  • @codemarla cool, and my final question i promise... is the behringer metal or plastic? if plastic is it cheap and easily brake able?

  • @ZED305 It's plastic (the BOSS SYB-5 is metal but more expensive because of it) but I've never had any problems, its very study and can take some stomping.

  • @codemarla ok so iv got the synth pedal now, and the expression pedal should be coming tomorow or the next day, so how do you achieve the first sound? thats the best :D

  • @ZED305 Its mode #1 then something like this:

    (numbers relate to clock position)

    - direct = 2

    - effect = 2

    - red = 12

    - freq = 9

    - decay = 12

Start with the pedal very slightly open then as you strike the note, puch back on your heel to close it then then in one fluid motion open it again. Do this each time you play to get the "bounce" type sound. On longer sustained notes you can open the pedal more to increase the pitch to more extremes.

  • @codemarla ?????????????

  • me again... could i get the synth pedal and use a different make expression pedal with it? would it be compatable with a boss expression pedal for example?

  • @ZED305 yeah man, any expression pedal should be fine (and probably better actually as the FCV is pretty cheap)

  • thats pretty tight,I play guitar but when I play bass I still do the same techniques on a bass and treat it like a electric guitar,I palm mute, pinch harmonics with vibrato Zakk Wylde style,I wish they made bass guitars with kahler tremolos already on there,I like 6 string bass guitars,I wouldnt need a 7 or 8 string bass

  • can you achieve the first sound with just the behringer bsy600 pedal?

  • @ZED305 Kinda.... with just the BSY600 it does the same sounds but you have no control over the rate/depth of the sound. For the first two demos I'm increasing the depth using my foot so the envelope opens and closes when I want it to. Without the FCV the effect will open at a set rate and wont close. With the LFO settings the bass will wobble at a fixed speed all the time, which will get boring quickly. So I would say its pointless without an expression pedal too

  • @codemarla okay thanks man

  • Best live dubstep bass I've heard!

  • That was fucking sick bro! Keep that up!

  • @codemarla

I set it up the way you said and still have the same problem - I can get the fast pulse like you do with the expression pedal disconnected but if I leave the delay on max and plug in the pedal I only get a range from the min to about half-way or so. The cable I'm using for the expression pedal is a 1/4in TRS to Dual 1/4in TRS.

  • Great video, I bought both pedals after watching it. I can't reproduce the third sound you made though. When I don't use the expression pedal, I can get mode 6 to do the fast beats like you do buy when I plug the pedal into it, it maxes out at a very slow speed. Any idea what's going on with that?

  • @GDKennell A lot of people have been having issues with the expression pedal, luckily I have manged to sort most peoples problems out. Firstly, make sure you are using a stero cable rather than a mono cable to link the two. The pedal will only adjust to the speed to a maximum of where the rate on the BSY is set, so if that is set slow it will always go slow. Set the rate to the fastest you want the LFO to go. Also make sure if the FCV is set to CV mode and not NORM. If this doesnt help, PM me.

  • APC 40 i got one ofthem bad boys

  • I don't care what people say, the Cort Curbow looks hell a sick. I've never played or owned a Cort, but the Curbow is cool

  • estas bien puñetas

  • skrillex, meet bass guitar! nice video mate. =)

  • @realcoolking95 lol, despite my severe disliking for Skrillex, I'll take that as a compliment ^_^

  • I have just added my new track as video response, it doesnt use the BSY + FCV a huge amount (mostly just my live Cort curbow for the verses) but there is a breakdown section that uses it heavily (with some distortion added too) which you guys may be interested to hear. Its not "proper dubstep" stye (more dubstep crossed with rock) but I think it makes some interesting sounds regardless. I'm still planning on uploading a track with some real dubstep use of it... but its taking a while.

  • @4:18, on the fast triplets, are you moving your foot on the pedal that fast? It looks like your leg is just staying still though, how does it work?

  • @selfself7

On that setting the expression pedal controls the LFO rate. When the pedal is completely open its a very slow LFO (kinda like a phaser) but when its all the way closed the LFO rate is very fast (which gives the triplets effect) so all im doing there is rocking my foot back and forth slightly for the first couple of notes then pressing it all the way down and holding it for the fast wobble on the last note.

  • @codemarla Ohh ic, thanks. I might be thinking of getting those pedals.

  • bro that sounds sick!!

  • ok wow I dig it. I'm running guitar rig 4. unless i missed it in the video, any idea how to set something similar up? guessing it takes a couple of LFO's?

  • sick bro.. sounds good... now i need to get bass guitar..

  • Cheers man bought a stereo cable today and it all works great nice one you're a legend.

  • Ive connected a standard guitar cable from then EXP port on the BSY600 to OUTPUT 2 on the Behringer FCV100 ive set the mode on the FCV100 to CV mode nothing else is plugged in the FCV but when I move it back and forth it does nothing to the effects at all what am i doing wrong? is there some dial I have to turn on the BSY600 to make it do this?

  • @kyle20017 I hd exactly the same problem and several others have also asked me the same question. You have it set up correctly but you can't use a standard guitar cable as these are usually always mono. You need to use a stereo cable. If you don't know what you are looking for, take a look at the jack of the cable. A mono cable will have a single black line around the end. A stereo cable will have two black lines. That should solve your problem.

  • whats the wire setup for hooking up the expression pedal to the bsy600 cause i dont have a clue

  • I am so close to finishing my latest track (which uses this pedal for the majority of the bass).... Once this video has 4,000 view I'll post the track as a video response ^_^

  • @codemarla That got to 4,000 quicker than I thought. This weekend my new track will be uploaded as promised ....better get to work :-s

  • @codemarla Ok... I've had a microphone problem so didn't get the track finished in time.... New mic will be purcased soon... then I'll upload it

  • i have a syb 5. Its dope. i have not tried the behringer tho. i can get whatever sound i want out of it. i also have a crybaby bass wah. and it sounds as good or better than this recording.. granted i dont think his mics were the best

  • I can't decide whether to buy a Behringer BSY600 or a BOSS SYB-5 bass synth pedal. This demo is by far the best "sound" i've seen so far but BOSS pedals are like tanks and stand the test of time.

Any particular reason way you went with the Behringer BSY600?

    Have you tried the SYB-5?

  • @electroresearch

I tried the SYB-5 in a music shop but without an expression pedal so I didn't get a full feel for it. Based on what functions I did though I couldn't really tell the difference with the pedal, though I think the boss one may have had slightly better tracking. I may try it again soon.

Price was the main reason I went for the BSY. The standard RRP is about £20 cheaper plus I work for djmmusic.com (we only stock Behringer not Boss) so I got the pedal for trade price too.

  • @electroresearch I own the syb5. Its really nice. Can get tons of sounds.. I also own a crybaby bass wah, and his sound and the sounds from mine are very similar. That wasnt the best recording ever but I could filter it. sounds good though bud. UNCE UNCE!!

  • @gtourt3220 any idea how to get same sound without having the get the syb-5 (on guitar rig 4, that is)

  • skip to 1:30 for the actual demo

  • @extremeguitarshredr

Well observed. I do tend to chat away a bit at the start.

  • Dude that was really cool! would buy one, but i know i would never use it >.<

  • this is brilliant mate! what settings did you use for the 3rd demonstration?

  • @nemesiskite55

Its setting 6 (one of the LFO's). I had the direct out set pretty low and the effect out full on.

The reso was about half way and the frequency was almost completely down.

I had the rate max out at roughly the 1/12th mark (There isnt a marking for it you just need to feel that one...its about 2/3 of the way round if I remember rightly) then modulated that with the expression pedal.

I've since found some really decent settings so ill post a new vid soon.

  • @codemarla alright thanks mate

  • @codemarla

Yea definitely make a vid with your new ill settings :D You're the only one on youtube with actually good sounds from this pedal. also, try the boss equivalent of this pedal.

  • Hey I was just wondering how the hell you set up the synth pedal with the FCV, I mean where to do the wires go.. I'm pretty stuck. My amp has a send/receive jacks but I'm confused to how the FCV fits in to the whole situation.. Any help would be fantastic ! Cheers

  • @psychedelicmidnight

The easiest way yo set it up is to have a jack going from your amp input to the output on the BSY, then a stereo jack from the EXP socket on the BSY into the 2nd channel of the FCV (and make sure you have the FCVset to CV mode) then a final jack from the BSY input into your bass.

  • i like the 3rd setting, sounds like proper dubstep, maybe add an octave pedal for the authentic sub-bass?

  • @chilly2829 Yeah its pretty tasty.. its a pain to control though.

The bass is actually pretty deep as it is it just didnt come through too well on the camera.

Ive recorded a few tracks with it and will be uploading them shortly... they are deeeep.

I've tried it with an octave pedal (the digitech whammy to get the dive bomb effect) but if you go a whole octave lower when playing the E strings its just too deep to really register as a sound... and not in a good way...

  • Hey buddy i love the setup been checking out the marla stuff and its pretty sick. Was Wondering how you set up the pedals because i have the exact same 2 and cant get the fcv100 to control the bass synth. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • @dearmondbanez

Hi, glad you like it. I had exactly the same problem when I first got mine. You need to make sure you are using a stereo jack cable instead of a regular mono guitar jack. Check what cable you are using and if you are still having problems let me know and I'll think about if it can be anything else but its probably the cable thing like me.

  • Gah. I wanna try that on guitar so bad.

  • @soultronx10 I havent tried it myself... but a mate did and he said it didnt really work. Its more designed for bass but I'm sure there is something similiar you can get for guitar... check out their website.

  • i looked up the expression pedal, it says its mainly a volume pedal... so it can be used to control the frequency or whatever?

  • @MonkeysOnRiot

It is fundmentally a volume pedal for use with keyboard but it can be used as an expression pedal to control the freq and decay rate of the effects.

You can use any expression pedal, I just got this one as I like Behringer products and it was a really good price.

  • I love the sound you make around 4:20, its in all my favorite dub step, you should put up a video on the settings and how to use the pedal to make that kinda sound for when I get my own soon

  • @MonkeysOnRiot

Yeah I think I will do that some time soon. Probably into the new year. If you subscribe you'll get an update when I add a tutorial video :)

  • Hi.. cool video.. maybe u can help me! (sorry for my english)

I want to buy some pedal from behringer´s line.. i want to play jazz/funk so i need a pedal who can give me some nice sounds for slap and a deep sound for jazz, which one u recomend?tx so much

  • @xPrOvOx

It sounds like you may just want an EQ pedal or two so that you can easily change between the required sounds quickly and easily. Or maybe a funk wah? but that would be more for fun.

If you go to the Behringer website you can hear demos of all the pedals. They arent the best demos I've heard but will give you the general idea of the sounds.

  • sick. first setting is my fave

  • btw I take it your controlling the rate using the expression pedal yeah

  • @riodejerox

Yeah that's right. The expression pedal controls decay of the majority of the settings and the speed of modulation on the LFO settings.

It can be a pain to control but with practise and dedication I'm sure you can get pretty exact with it. I'm new to expression pedals in general so I'm struggling a little.

I'd certainly recommend it though. Its basically a cheaper variation of the Boss bass synth pedal. It doesn't quite look as snazzy but it does the same thing for half the price.

  • very clever mate I'm a musician I just had a look at this pedal just now and I'm thinking could be very handy for my live set

    soo thank you
