  • I love this. It is neat how they use Morrison's jig to separate each jig played. I recognize every single jig in this medly I just can't remember the names of them!

Celtic music is one of my very favorite types of music. :) I will say that the penny whistle player needed to practice more though!

  • You found a matching piece ! Slàinte or Slàinte Mhath is commonly used as a drinking toast in Scotland and Ireland. Sometimes it is corrupted into "Slanj" which is quite close to the original pronunciation. It means literally "Good Health" (Wikipedia)

  • one of my ancient grand father was irish, and sometimes i can feel my blood pulsing with music like that!

  • Aaaah, protocyborg! Just a drop of Irish blood is all it takes.. to make the toes tap and the blood to stir, when the tin whistle chirps and the pipes are played! ; D

  • jeeze i hope i have irish in me...i love the music...and i play the fiddle :)

  • You probably do have some..you should start asking questions of your family members!!

  • well..my mom is British...but her mom maiden name is Sides(that Scottish) so i might be irish... idk lol

  • You probably have just a drop or two at least, considering that many Irish lived in Great Britain, and vice versa!

  • i hope so ! :D im moving to england soon an i cant wait!!!!!!!

  • Good luck to you, and safe trip!! ; D

  • thanks alot :D

  • Scotland and Ireland aren't the same countries but people get them confused because of the accent. Actualy Scotland has more of a Celtic side in the accent add to be apart from the Irish heritage, so it is definetly possible that you could be Irish too, since the Irish and the Scotish were kind of connected in some way.

  • thats ya hand laddie

  • Im proud of having Irish Blood in my Family.

  • Thanks DeeFL08 ! We wish you to visit Ireland some day and to play the violin at a big family reunion ! Slainte ! Phalaina

  • Hey!! isnt that one of those irish shaties? i love all that is irish and all the shanties

  • Hi Phalaina. My first introduction to the Irish Traditional music happened in a small local pub in Sydney, and since then i am a big fan of it. I dont live in Sydney anymore and i am working in a place where i am not happy at all. However listening to this makes me so nostalgic.

This was a very beautiful piece of art. Simply serene.

  • Hi dessertkorky ! Wouldn't it be fine to have a pub with Irish Traditional music in each town !? We wish you happiness in your next job !! Slainte ! Phalaina

  • haha love it!!!!

  • well, I meant "learn" as in I need to work on my bow-hold and stuff. and the music being written down, well, just the basic parts of the song and then you add your own stuff to it. ;_; sorry, I'm still on sheet music where you have to play it just like it's written, I play viola in my school orchestra, middle school, we don't really work on improv.

  • Mile mhaith agaibh i gcór an ceol,

  • wow .. what nice music i swear this is awesome .. indian music is totaly diffrent from this .. but this is awesome ... love to hear it again and again .. thanx for uploading this

  • Hi James ! Thanks for your comment ! We discovered on your site the indian culture with Rahman and Mani Ratnam and also..your first vocal try-out's ! Slainte ! Phalaina

  • fantastic, gra mo craoi

  • Hi robbiebobs ! thanks ! Erin Gra Mo Chroi (Ireland Of My Heart) Phalaina

  • I play Viola, and have always been interested in learning to play Irish and Scottish music. please tell me if you know somewhere that I can find good fiddle music written for the Viola!!!

  • if you are a violist then there would be no learning involved with play irish sheet music

good fiddle music IS NOT written down

  • what is viola, i think you mean violin

  • The viola (French, alto) is a bowed string instrument. It is the middle voice of the violin family, between the violin and the cello. The casual observer may mistake the viola for the violin because of their similarity in size, closeness in pitch range (the viola is a perfect fifth below the violin), and identical playing position. However, the viola's timbre sets it apart: its rich, dark-toned sonority is more full-bodied than the violin's.

  • It's videos like this that make me want to learn the tin whistle and guitar so badly. Great job guys! Absolutely loved this!

Hopefully I get inspired and start practicing my guitar some more! =D

  • Hi Logitechnical ! thanks for your feedback !

  • i love this kind of music;););)

    greetings from germany ;)

  • Thanks ! Greetings from Brussels too !

  • btw, why are you using music? it's fine to learn from, but after that you need to add some style. it just seems a little stuffy and it appears that you're not having much fun. irish music is supposed to be fun. your tinwhistler is tonguing a lot too and sometimes drops out. you have potential though.

  • Hi CelticTinWhistler ! Thanks for your comment ! Don't worry...we have fun even if this video doesn't reflect it ! Where can we hear your performance ? Slainte ! Phalaina

  • where is Kevin Burke when u need him? Good try nevertheless.

  • Hi - not sure what happened to my comment...but basically, this would be a lot nicer if you got rid of the music that you all appear to be reading. It's a real no-no in this sort of music, and I think it makes your performance seem much less liberated than it otherwise would be.

  • Hi Mark ! Thanks for your advice ;) By the way, We appreciate your harp performance on your site ! Phalaina

  • Please tell me you're not playing this from printed music!!! Ditch it, if you are - it will liberate your performance.

  • What is that in the background it reminds me of the legend of zelda cuz it looks computer generated to me

  • Hi ! Not computer generated at all but irish and scottish nature and monument views !

  • Ah ok just thought i would ask love the music btw

  • I Love Irish Music!

  • Are you Dutch-speaking of French-speaking? (or maybe German-speaking? ;)) However, it was really nice! :)

  • We speak French, Dutch and English and sing sometimes in Gaelic. Thanks for yr comment !

  • Very nice sound but bodhran.

That woman needs a bodhran tutor :$

  • Bodhran player has just found a tutor in Belgium !Thanks for the positive comment ! Phalaina

  • Very good news! if you use dadgad tuning on guitar too, i'll be one of your best fans^^

    /cheer

  • Also, check out http://whistlethis.com it's a great site that helps people learn to play whistle in the authentic irish style.

  • Thanks for the hint and the quotation !

  • Sounds nice, the whistle player reeaally needs to slur a lot more of the notes. Trying to tongue every single note at that tempo is going to have him tripping over the tune.

  • tre bon!

I like this very much. You have a great idea here, keep and work on this it will be very very good.

  • Thanks for your friendly comment and french effort !
