In the 90s and 2000s, there were so many cases of dowry death that it was shocking. I asked you to search for it because it is so easy to find. Go to Wikipedia and type - Dowry death.
You will see the stats and other refeces. In year 2005 there were 6,787 dowry deaths. I know my last statement could be stinging because that is a fact, no man has died because of 498a implementation.

Not sure response that came in my mail box does not show up here. Issue is that despite anti-dowry law the deaths increased and that is because the law is not stringent & effective enough. 498a tightens the grip on the loop holes.
Not sure Y U think dowry deaths increased becasue of enactment of 498a type laws. Far from it, the law I am sure has saved many lives. Every law has loopholes & can be abused, 489a holds the in-laws accountable.
