The border should be open, all the way down to the Panama Canal, and make that all part of the New United States, include Canada in it as well. Yes 2nd language training in the US sucks and I'm glad it was mentioned. Kids need to be taught a 2nd language young when they are able to pick it up really fast. 6th grade is way too late. I talked to someone in Denmark and he said they learn 4 to 5 languages minimum before high school.

You can go through the citizenship process while residing in this country. As far as people dying while crossing the border the number is miniscule compared with the millions that cross every year. I think a couple hundred last year. Probably inline with those who died of natural causes. There is no reasonable arguement for illegal entry.

The border should be open, all the way down to the Panama Canal, and make that all part of the New United States, include Canada in it as well. Yes 2nd language training in the US sucks and I'm glad it was mentioned. Kids need to be taught a 2nd language young when they are able to pick it up really fast. 6th grade is way too late. I talked to someone in Denmark and he said they learn 4 to 5 languages minimum before high school.

that's naive & stupid that everyone who lives here is going to learn english. come to los angeles- there are millions of people who only speak spanish. by having radio, tv, government documents, store workers, signs in spanish, nobody needs to learn english so why do it? also, why print ballots in foreign languages? if you can't speak english 1. you're not a citizen. 2. how in the hell do you know who you're voting for?

The immigrants who came to the USA starting in the 1700s knew that English was the common denominator and up until about 20 years ago, every immigrant accepted that fact.
Now, Hispanics expect the rest of the country to accommodate their native language. It's ridiculous.
The Dutch, the Germans, Polish, Italians, Swedes and all the other nationalities never expected that.

Solution:
We round up all the illegal aliens, send them to chain gangs to pay us back for finding detaining and sending them back to their home countries. We get the cheap labor and they get a chance to emigrate legally from their home country.

Illegal immigration has always been a problem in the united states. the american party a political party that made laws restricting germans and irish people from immigrating to the US. you also forgot the chinese exclusion act of 1882 which targeted asians even though they weren't chinese. same with jews during WWII. immigration and xenophobia has been a problem in the US since it began. illegal immigration is a static law anyway. You aren't going to solve the problem by building walls and deporting people. I'm from so-cal and let me tell you nothing short of the Gestapo could purge all of the illegal immigrants. We can solve the problem by strengthening collective bargaining, and in addition requiring better ID to work so the legal immigrants find work faster and make more money. That will make illegal immigrants leave and come back legally like they did before Reagan.
