  • Very Creative -- I was Booth in th PA premiere. I like the seductive girls-- the carnival guy has great expression -- it's a hard score to sing, I think he nails it....oops, Balladeer loses it in the little clip at the end.

  • Your Guiteau is really wonderful! I first came across this production via the Ballad of Guiteau video, and I really enjoyed his performance. Booth also really impressed me. But I keep being sad that your Balladeer isn't NPH. Sorry, he's really great... but I've kind of been spoiled with mister Neil Patrick Harris...

  • Your propetier is so fun to watch. So slimy and kinda smooth. Persuasive, yet unnerving. Great.

  • Why is the Proprietor the M.C. from Cabaret?

  • Pretty amazing with such a small pit I feel that unworthy of your love needs that sax solo but im biast with that lol amazing pit job

  • This opening seems a cross between Cabaret and Rocky Horror..not sure either is good. Also, there is humor, but not in the way you presented it. Good acting and singing otherwise. Just not hip on the choices the director made.

  • What keyboard did you use for the keyboard 2? Do you remember the make and model?

  • @gmyers34 I honestly couldn't even give you a guess on that. I think we just used a keyboard from the music department at ASU....but the only sounds you need to have are the basics like trumpet, violin, etc.... you can actually look on MTI at the scores available for Assassins and they have a list of all the instruments

  • I read that the pit in this video is only two keyboards and percussion. Are all of the instrumental sounds coming from a keyboard?

  • @lcmyersmtbc

yes that is true! Keyboard 1 is pretty much doing all the piano parts and keyboard 2 (my dad!) is doing all the "other instruments"

  • Does this pit only have two keyboards and percussion?

  • You've got a might fine Booth there. :D

  • wow....2:15 creepy

  • You can hear the drummer try to keep the Proprieter's tempo up but he kept slowing down. I guess you can call that "milking" it too much, Nice voice tho...

I don't get the girls at the beginning. Doesn't work.

  • @fiyero24601 because he is about to shoot president abe in the ford theatre

  • The Proprietor reminds me of the Emcee from Cabaret. I'm not sure I like it...

  • "Sic semper tyrannis!" (Thus always to tyrants) Its what the actual Booth yelled.

  • I think that part should be more emphasized like in the soundtrack, instead of just running off and saying it like an after-thought. But that's just me...

  • whose idea was it to add the girls at the beginning?

  • Wow, this is a great production! Thanks for posting the full play.

    This song rocks.

  • 5:30, awesome.

  • this was amazing! the only thing that irked me was the proprietor was a little off key whenever he started to sing. but he always got himself back on.

    : )

  • proprietor = hott :D

  • I'm impressed. For an amatuer student production especially. I wish our school could do something like this.

  • What is this show about?

  • All the people who've made assassination attempts on U.S. Presidents

  • Not all, but most of the more colorful and successful ones. An interesting note is sometimes they leave out Richard Lawrence, the first man to try -- misfiring two guns at Andrew Jackson. A bunch of others like the Puerto Rican nationalists who shot at Truman are also left out.

  • great show! you need mor of pit...

  • this was actually a student production, so we had to go the 3 piece non-paid orchestra route. Actually, in the original off broadway production of this show, they used a 3 piece as well (although I'm sure they got paid!) We had one rehearsal accompanist and then 3 days before opening my dad flew in from Canada to play keyboard 2 and we found a local drummer who was kind enough to add on. All that considered, I was thankful for the final product! :o)

  • This is an awesome cast. The only real criticism I have is the pit. For such talented actors, you really need a much more professional-sounding pit.

  • It's called proper grammar. Use it.

  • His eyes are great

  • is the proprietor in white face

  • i wasnt the biggest fan of the propeteer but i love booth! hes great!

  • Wonderful job on the Proprieter. I can't help but imagine him as the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret. Excellent job!

  • I was thinking the same thing!

  • The proprietor looks like he should be in Panic! at the Disco.

  • wow. the proprietor is soooo scary. amazingly good though.

  • This is the play that's happening at my school.

  • At 2:18, the guy singing looks like the devil. He's still really good though. He's really cool like the show. 5 stars!

  • -cont-I've heard of it done (surely a professional show) where Booth excuses himself from the company and exits offstage (from whence Lincoln's appearance is announced, mind) and a few moments later a shot resounds from offstage as well. This blind realization, without visual portrayal, makes it so much more real.

Of course, I know that these are creative decisions, and directors have their own visions. And from what I've seen, I have no quarrel with the bulk of your director's choices!

  • Augh. I love this show. Your proprieter makes me cry tears of joy. And your Booth is fantastic, as well. Great ensemble singing! They all sound lovely together.

I love the blocking! It's really creative. And Guiteau is hilarious already.

Only thing that disappointed me was Booth's assassination of Lincoln. To me it drastically reduced the dramatic effect of Booth's act, because of the fact that it happened right before the audience, who sees clearly that he's shooting at a picture.

  • Best proprietor ever? Yes. Also, I love Squeaky's outfit.

  • Wow, your proprietor is really creepy. Reminds me alot of the Emcee in Cabaret. Very nice :)

  • Ok, so what's the concpt behind this scene? I've seen it set in a hotel lobby and ouf course a fair, I don't get this though

  • I guess a lot of it has to do with how quickly you have to change scenes, what you have to work with, etc. I like the fair with the spinner, but I think the portraits were fairly decent on here.
