iggy pop, sex pistols, and the clash were the only good things to come out of punk. Punk is supposed to be raw and dangerous now its just a fashon statement and a way to get away with dyeing your hair pink.
You're forgetting Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, Reagan Youth, Agent Orange, and many others. I'm not saying punk did nothing but good, because a lot of people misinterpreted the essence, then just used it as a cheap excuse to play their instruments like shit and "be cool," but punk was a lot more than that... oh, and you're forgetting about The fucking Ramones, boy.
@feindclub666 What are you talking about? The Sex Pistols were influenced by Roxy Music, Alice Cooper and The Who. And The Sex Pistols then went on to influence dozens of other cracking punk bands. And the whole hardcore punk movement in America was fused by Bad Brians AND The Sex Pistols. Iggy was great, but check your facts.
@Person1036 The Pistols were pieced together by Malcom McLauren (ex-manager of the NY Dolls who fired him.) Pistols fashion and sound was influenced by earlier US punks like Richard Hell & Iggy. They weren't even the earliest UK punk band. Pistols brought punk more media attention & influenced more punk bands to come. That's what makes them important. Most hardcore bands main influence in starting a band was the Ramones who were also together before Pistols and toured the UK before the Pistols.
@A2Z83 But you haven't taught me anything new. Plus, a lot of what Malcom said was bullshit. You treat me like a baby, like I don't know my history. You have disrespected my intelligence. I spit at your feet. Nahhh! But really, I'm not a mindless punk that only knows about the Ramones and The Sex Pistols. I know pretty much all the bands from that time. I'm a fan of hardcore punk bands like Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Minor Threat and Bad Brains too.
@Person1036 eeeh Iggy did influence the Pistols they even recorded a version of No Fun by The Stooges. Also Steve Jones used to practice playing Raw Power.
@mondola Yeah, now I know that. I just wanna say that my music tastes have changed quite sigificantly in the last ten months, so don't worry. I admit I'm wrong.
I like how Nardwuar knows more about Iggy's cock than he does.

Actually, Never Mind the Bollocks is a great album, but Malcolm McLauren made cartoons out of them via promotion.

No shit. Best performer I've ever seen, hands down.
Toad's Place, New Haven, March 94.
I love Rollins story about Iggy running into an amp, bloodying the hell out of himself and blowing Rollins Band off the stage that show.
