@Tyler9055 You've never played with a real air rifle then. I have a cheap 1000 FPS pellet gun that can push out air fast enough to create a loud crack when it is fired. But the thing that you are so blatantly missing is that a gun powder ignition creates...yup you got it gas. So in short both types of guns use air pressure to push the round through the barrel. A suppressor works by diffusing and redirecting that air pressure so that when it exits the barrel it won't have enough force to crack.
