  • i first listened to this song when i was 9.. thank you x- files!

  • "the truth is out there" -but certainly not in the unreal farce called the X-Files

  • Damn this X-files soundtrack does bring back memories from my childhood, and the main theme was fucking way too creepy but awesome. Ty uploader.

  • this song keeps playing in the back of my mind when im alone pondering

  • This song captures how my life has been lived, and how it is being lived, and how it will be lived...my only request for my funeral.

  • very helpfuul

  • I found this song, like most, through 'Songs in the key of X' and it has remained one of my most fav all these 15 long years. Beautiful.

  • Awesome song. I miss the 90s.

  • Any fitness poledancers out there who love this tune: I did a great Clark (Clara?) Kent-turns-Superman (Super Stripper?) dance routine to this song...too fun to reveal the "S" on a t-shirt just as he says "Steel" for the 1st time! Oh Frank, how I love thee. Reeeeorwr!

  • the MAN is a genius

  • great song, from excellent period ("CULT OF RAY" period)

  • @kotvana should have been on the album. would of been the best song on the album

  • why I've been listening to it a lot! the x files album is one of the best compilations EVER, I highly recommend it!

  • this song is from songs in the key of the X, i have it andi is a great album

  • this is also the last song on an album of franks called oddballs...its an awesome listen all the way through!

  • This is absolutely the best thing Frank Black ever recorded, with or without the Pixies - and hardly anyone listened to it.

  • @JaneLame exactly! the best thing go unheard my friend

  • u sure? motorway to roswell? debaser? tame? holiday song? broken face? caribou? cactus? the sad punk? eiffel? u-mass? velouria? monkey? isla de encanta? hey? gouge away? i don't think so... francis had a chronic outburst of imagination almost unprecedented in rnr! frank's written a bunch of average and monotonous bluesy country crappy songs. los angeles (his solo first) remains his best, though it sure sucks when compared to almost anything he'd done with the pixies. face it.

  • They should use this track for the next Superman movie. ;-)

  • There's a place

  • WHat CD is this from?

  • from the Songs in the Key of X (X-files soundtrack, first one)

  • theres nothing to do. frank black is the man....

  • great one

lost the cd case so long ago... only found out today the guy's name. clue me into some other good black 1s, pls?

  • the first 2 pixies albums :doolittle and surfer rosa, and his newest solo album : fast man, raider man , theyre different than this or each other but they are awesome

  • frank's newest solo album is bluefinger. unless you count petites fours with his wife, violet. lulz.

  • thanks for the correction, now i know thats hes relesing under the name black francis again , awesome

  • check out his newer albums under his old name Black Francis, both available on itunes or amazon i think: Bluefinger and Seven Fingers. Both albums have some really good numbers, like Polly's into Me (an extra track on Bluefinger) and When They Come to Murder Me (an awesome, awesome song).

  • I'll be heedin your advice

Thanks for the tip, pal ;D

  • A great song from a great soundtrack.

  • What is this song about?

  • Basically its about no matter how strong you are you will fail!! Sums the X-files up.

  • so many great comments on this song.

takes a man of steel to be lonely sometimes, especially when you've lost the love of your life, and your driving on those long lonely desert highways and all you can do is think about her =(

  • Can't find this song anywhere... I can't find Oddballs anywhere. Not in stores. Not online for download. This bugs me. Because I know this song from riding in the car with my father on long trips to Indianapolis. Can anyone help?

  • it's on the Songs in the Key of X album, if that helps. 1996, I think.

  • I've got this album and also i've got this song in cd-audio quality. So, I think, I can help you ;)

  • Great Song!

  • I like at 2:11 how it goes back into that swinging motif feel, it leaves me feeling suspended in midair for a second.

  • all those years and still i feel the same, he's something

  • which of his albums is on? and, can someone please send me the mp3 of this song

  • It's on a soundtrack for the X-Files, not on a regular cd I'm afraid.

  • Yes, it is, actually...it is on the Oddballs cd...kind of hard to find, I'm afraid. Very very good, though, all of his b-sides...

  • Hey, Crackerdamus, this is off of Oddballs...fucking awesome album...I'm an ODDBALL!

  • i buy all of my albums, i am fifteen and i personally bought all of Frank Black/Black Francis' albums, all of the Pixies' and Catholics albums, but I am a little broke right now and I want to get this Oddballs album so bad... is it possible that you can send me the album's files? thanks.

  • All I have is the CD, and my computer is fucked when it comes to downloads, otherwise I would, you've certainly given enough of your own collection...It should be real cheap though, if you have the luck to find it, though it is usually very hard to find...my brother just found a copy at a used dealer, for like six bucks, but that's the first I've heard of anyone seeing it around in a long while...so, good luck, man...and you have awesome taste in music for a lad so young!

  • i'll look around, maybe on ebay....

and thank you for the compliment on my taste! i love this music so much! Black Francis is my idol, the Pixies is my favorite band (with the Catholics as second), and I just simply love everything this genius releases! :D

  • no...

    but really...

there is alot of fuckin sweet music on that x-files cd...

i had it, back in the day, and it was awesome...

you should really try and find the song list for it...

    i'd remember it, but i'm a stoner...

all i remember is the foo fighters covering gary numan, red right hand, a song by screamin jay hawkins, something by danzig, and r.e.m.....

it really is worth checking out!!!

  • yah the entire album (songs in the key of X) rocks, this one no exception.

  • Thanks for posting this. I've been trying to find this song for the longest time. I used to have Oddballs but I lost it.

  • this song is great...

  • Amazing song, still gives me chills after listening for 12 years.

  • Love the drums on this song. One of my favorite songs from back in the day. Thanks.

  • ahaha, avevo comprato quel cd a 12-13 anni, grandioso, l'ho riascoltato giusto ieri...

  • great song!!! thanks 4 posting it
