  • Great version of a great song

  • I AM a Wog.

  • i o 1 d.

  • if you have to explain you probaly misse the point...

  • I FEEL LIKE A WOG .........

  • I immediately thought they was saying they felt like shit, or is it just me with a extraordinary IQ

  • to all you knobs who dont understand that Hugh is no way a racist ,, he is the opposite ,, WOG at one time actually meant WESTERN ORIENTAL GENTLEMAN,,, grow up cock suckers,,

  • @eelpieballox Look up 'Backronyms' on wikipedia.

  • @eelpieballox Wiley.

  • Love the very slightly slower pace, Nice!

  • Hey ... this is very good. I really like this track. My hobby is to rediscover all those great bands from the 60s (their roots are in the soil of the 60s) that didn´t "reach the highest level". It´s a fantastic musical treasure. Listen (Youtube) for example to:

THE ZETTLERS and their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah".

Really f---g good with a bloody driving beat!!

THE GOLLIWOGS and the tune "Tell me". Check up the singer...Yes, it´s him!!!

  • cum on you lot this is the stranglers the best punk band ever enjoy saw em in 77 allways the best yer kirk bunce fb england

  • cum on you lot this is the stranglers the best punk band ever enjoy saw em in 77 allways the best yer kirk bunce fb

  • immigrant song....... by the glers......

  • the stranglers...the best band...i feel like a fucking wog

  • i like this version :)

  • Check out "c'mon" by the welsh band man,To see where the stranglers got that riff.

  • @England5is5the5best well it's well known that the stranglers were a pub band and Dr Feelgood and the like were great influences, however I think this is so different in so many ways. After listening to C'Mon by Man it's just a style like Jazz or R&B. Actually listening to Man I can hear Down in the Sewer opener.

  • @almklit I see what you mean.

  • @England5is5the5best I would also add that the stranglers rarely copied other tunes however, the song Bitching is similar to Born to be wild by Steppenwolf, Walk on By is The Doors, light my Fire in essence and Toiler on the Sea has the opening bars to the doors LA Woman, but apart from that they were generally original.

  • @almklit OK,fanboy,relax.

  • @almklit Sory mate, but this band are totally original. If your read into things deep enough, well then every song has a "sound -a-like" ....Walk on By was originally sung by Deon Warwick granted, however Dave Greenfield is self taught, and is "THEE" sound behind the band. Credit where credit 's due...they copy no-one.......not even Hugh!!!!

  • @monocromeman Who are you angry with here, I am a big fan and I was responding to England5is5is5the5best comment regarding I feel like a wog saying it's a straight lift from C'mon by Man, I disagree, I was just mentioning those songs the band admits to having some reference point such as Go Buddy Go the bass is a straight lift from Hendrix Hey Joe. 98% stranglers is original which is much higher than most bands. No one can be completely wihout influence it's impossible. I am a massive fan.

  • This is fantastic. This is much better than the album version which no doubt was punkified for the time and speeded up . Burnel's bass is magnificent at this slower pace. The whole thing is more powerful.

  • NO!its not racist its the stranglers!

  • no!its not racist its the stranglers!

  • Very appropriate song for our times...globalisation and immigration and all that

  • i feel like a wank

  • fucking wog comments lol shine my shoes boy

  • Buncha wogs like us love this. Whitewogs, blackwogs, yellowwogs, Bradfordwogs. I am one of the latter.

  • Yeah a lot of individuals are made to " feel like a wog" by bigots and racists the Strangers are not racist , listen to the words ! when I saw them play this live at THE RAINBOW CLUB Birmingham 1977 Hugh said "does anybody in here not like wogs ? " "if so fuck off out the door we dont want you here" ! Fucking amazing you could not make that point in Gordon Brown's plastic PC UK !

  • what a song ........ very good

  • don' call me your gollywaahhgggg

  • Oh my god! WTF's up with the name!?? LMAO

    Fair play.

Was browsing the buzzcocks then I noticed this, had to check it out.

    Pretty damn bad ass tbf

  • the lyrics wld undoubtedly be banned nowadays

  • J Peel - well missed. RIP. :(

  • The title of the song is relevant,as the song itself relates to the alienation felt by the Protagonist...Listen to the lyrics;Anyone with a 'normal' I.Q. will understand WHY this track is so named in the blink of an eye...Nothing racist whatsoever!

  • @Dreddloxx I agree Hugh is making the point of being alone.

  • @Dreddloxx STFU twat.

  • @ecnalubma696969 As I have fucking life,I've only just spotted this one,you inadequate motherfucker...Bring it on,you Simian TWAT...Americans...Sad shadows of the English...You are nothing more than a bunch of cunts that the English decided to 'send across the water' to colonise...Look what happened there, you sad fuck...WE created the 'Worlds Police' that everyone and his next-door neighbour HATES enough to blow the fuck out of you...Enjoy your 'power',motherfucker...You twat...;-)

  • @Dreddloxx please tell us how you really feel.

  • @Dreddloxx What was your address again so we can get you the help that you most clearly need (I have Dignitas on hold now).

  • @ecnalubma696969 YOU STFU,you Colonial piece of 'Big Mac' faeces...

  • @Dreddloxx you are bang on the nail sir. only a fucking idiot wouldnt understand the point being made, especialy the time it was made.

  • @Dreddloxx OMG What if we happened to have generalised views re The Other? Im sure the stranglers would have been mortified. Sanity = agreement hombre! FAG!

  • I'd never heard this version, man, scary...intense. Perfect.

  • me too , R.I.P John Peel ,,10pm on weekdays just aint the same ;-(

  • You tell him! Wait till he's back home. Anyway, he does listen to the Stranglers, but can't bring himself to admit to me how good they are. Maybe when he hits his teens he'll understand.

  • this is amazing, always a stranglers follower

  • Hey! takes me back to good tomes! before the fucking nanny state took over! we were all rock against racism but called a spade a spade!

When I saw the stranglers at THE RAINBOW in Birmingham 77 Hugh said that "Anybody that done like wogs can all fuck off out of here!! Classic! no offence was taken by the cool black people in the crowd!

    Punk 4 Life!

  • the out put an volume of the bands songs are unmatched... even now i hear stuff that i didnt know existed... an let me say its like early days of just gettin aquainted with them again.... amazing .... where have i been... :)

  • this is about 90bpm max, compared to the released version which is prob about 135 or even faster. They "punk'd" up cause of the gigs and speed they were prob chewing to get on the treadmill.

  • NWA and Ice T owe a lot to these guys

  • reminds me of the doors and the clash

  • Love that mesmerising bassline.........

  • Thanks for this, fella.

  • got into them in 76 and still love em, prefer the cornwell era, but arguments aside bout em slagging each other off, they made great songs and wrote well together, bury the hatchett (not in each others head) and have a original line-up reunion.

  • i remember taping this back in 77,still got it.
