Kane was played by Julian Beck, an avant garde actor/director, who was dying of cancer at the time. He used his emaciated body for ultimate effect in this horror flick. It was his last performance as he died soon after filming.

Really wish there was an un-tampered clip of Julian Beck. Beck's portrayal of the evil preacher Kane is one of THE TRUE GEMS of recent horror movies! His performance makes this movie better then the first one. With his soft-spoken southern drawl and gaunt features, he projects more evil and is more sinister then a whole army of CGI-generated monsters. A terrific actor! Had he lived he could have had great career as a horror movie star. What great actors we had once-upon-a-time in Hollywood!

Actually, "Kane" was played by veteran stage actor Julian Beck. He didn't need much makeup during the shoot, because he had terminal stomach cancer. Truly a dead man walking. He died shortly after his scenes were completed. In real life, Julian was a really nice guy. Very cool and very hip. But his "Kane" character is certainly a psychological nightmare isn't he. At 00:45 Heather does a very convincing job of looking scared, although I think she really WAS scared doing that scene LOL!
