  • gran cantante george maharis que sera de el todavia seguira actuando no sabemos nada de el, alguien seria tan amable de bajar la cancion ES PECADO MENTIR se lo agradeceria saludos a george desde la distancia.

  • I couldn't agree with you more. I do my best to avoid interstates now and it's worth it because oddly enough some of the real America still exists out there. I don't care about getting to places in the fastest time possible, necessarily, I want to be able to feel some connection with America. Route 66 can never be recaptured, I suppose, but damn I hate to see what it represented just disappear. Yeah, I want America back. And bad.

  • I love Route 66 , also because I love cars too. Now after some 50 yrs later still love the show, now with the nostalgic side of those yrs without much of worries, peer pressures ,health ,family, mortgage ,car insurance etc LOL

  • There are still some good sized stretches of Route 66 (a.k.a. The National Trails Hwy), in particular a 125 mile stretch running out of Kingman, Arizona (thru Peach Springs) and ending up in Seligman. Another 70 mile stretch runs from Ludlow, Ca. (thru Amboy and Essex) into Needles, Ca. Fortunately every state that was on the original 66 (which is basically I-40 to OKC, I-44 to St. Louis and I-55 into Chicago) has a Rt. 66 historical society which is preserving what's left of the Mother Road.

  • @MrRonnieG Don't you feel a pang when you see a big old American car sometimes lazily hugging the highway instead of all this Japanese homogeneity? It takes me back to a time when...this country was different, it was the biggest it was the best and it was the greatest. I don't want to wallow in nostalgia, that was always for the birds but what's wrong with wanting your country back?

  • @1957MCL Stay out of Walmart. Back to Main Street. Buy Made in America products. Respect your countrymen when they have it coming. Try to turn them around otherwise, and don't neglect self-improvement--always room for that. And don't mistreat the poor struggling "illegals"...what would you do if in their shoes? Sorry to harangue--words not personally directed.

  • 子どもの頃に、父のCDでよく聞いていました!うれしい!!

  • 古き良き時代のアメリカ。憧れたなあ当時のアメリカ。

  • Man I miss this road. My sister and I drove it this past June, and just the feeling of looking at the open road without any other cars for miles was so amazing. A couple of times I would just stick my head out the window and scream something, just because I could! So amazing. We're doing it again in fourteen years. :)

  • AH, GERORGE TAMBIEN ESTUVO EN ROSARIO, PROVINCIAL.-

  • In May of 1961, I took a road trip with my parents. We left our home in Grand Rapids, MI headed for Chicago & got on Route 66 staying on it all the way to LA where my sisters lived in sunny weather the whole distance. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. This music played on the car radio several times, like the backdrop to my favorite TV show at the time. Now Route 66 is a mere memory, and a great one at that!

  • I read that the VIPS on Route 66 had differences with him and blackballed his career.....he has some DVDS out buy tham he has a beautiful voice...should have been able to record many songs that we could have heard.

  • It's to bad ot got taken off the map a lost place with a bunch of memorise :(

  • One of favs from way back. Great show.

  • Jinkies! I'd been reading for years that George Maharis was a singer in addition to being an actor, but never got a chance to hear his vocal talents until coming here to youtube. Pretty good singer! THANK YOU for posting this delightful "blast from the past"! You've MADE my day & my week! :)

  • Pensar que te fui a ver al teatro Opera de Buenos Aires alla por el año 1964!!!!

    Cuantos recuerdos George!!!

  • The producers were too cheap to pay Bobby to use his song as the opening theme.

  • George Maharis tour Sur America in the 60s.

    Argentina and later to Montevideo,Uruguay.

I saw him driving the red Corvettte to the

    theatre .

  • @jaurena47 Hey! That tour would have made a great video!

  • @1915fas Yes, early 60s nobody have an idea what a good video it could be! George live the show little after this tour, Even today , we can't enjoy this Route 66 shows, cause there are having copyrights issues, a shame!

  • eres lo maximo George, excelente voz

  • hey that was awesome !!!! Thank you for the memories!!

  • Maharis sure sounds a lot like Sinatra. After he was dropped by the show he should have had a swingin' music career!

  • You're right! He sounds like Frank on BIM BAM BABY, CAN I STEAL A LITTLE LOVE? and LEAN BABY.

  • @cnomad He kinda did, with singles, etc. But I wish he never got sick. >:(

  • Super highways get us from here to there faster BUT the real culture of America has been lost. Route 66 really shows how we as a nation have changed, and not for the better.

  • COOL

  • route 66...an example of good times, white times!remembre white pride!

  • haha hell yea!

  • George Maharis was a teen-age Heartthrob in his day. He also had other great songs such as It Isn't There And I Guess That's How It Goes. Anybody know where those songs are at? I'd love to hear them again

  • Nice rendition by the ultimate Route 66 cool guy...

  • john mayer does a much better job on this song

  • I think NOT. Nat King Cole's is the best version.

  • Uplifting all the way... Sir Paul McCartney and his new gal are tooling down good ole' 66 right now! Wonder why he didn't get a Corvette for the ride? Thanks for this video!

  • That voice! That show! 10's all the way!

    Awesome!

  • good old USA!
