If you're running the generator a lot it would make sense to use the heat from the water cooling and exhaust through a basic heat exchanger into heating for your house next to the heat pump.
I do like watching you work. Nice upgrade. You know the one thing thats great about watching OBX videos is when you also have (nothing like his setup) your own Solar and Generator. It helps keep the jealousy down (but just a small percentage) I have been on alternate power at least 5 times since the beginning of this year. It is just the only way to go. And it can be done economically if you use your brain and have some patience. And Kevin is one of the best sources out there. Thank you Sir!
What type of water pressure do you need to have on the intake side of the generator..I'm sure that it will decide if its feasible for the average home owner
Is the Isuzu motor the same one that the company put in the trucks? If so how would someone go about building a gen head? i can get one or two at the local yard be was wondering about how to build my own gen head. thanks for the vids.
OBX, great video as always, with a little creativity and the right parts could that marine generator be converted to a radiator and a standard type exhaust ? just a thought. thanks for sharing..
Excellent video. I have a Champion 3500 Watt generator which I never even get close to the rating on it, is there a way to cut the throttle back on the smaller engines. Yes I know its a cheap generator and not to expect much out of it but I got a great deal on it, it was mismarked at my local outdoors store for $189 they sell for $400. I only use it for running camp equipment like lights and a heater.
isuzu eh? i have heard nothing but good out of isuzu engines so that has to be a great generator. i am going to put a 4cyl isuzu diesel in my 88 ranger, should get around 40mpg. i got a 2.9l in it now and that thing drinks the fuel, im used to getting 40mpg so im not happy about 20mpg. anyways that engine shouldnt use hardly any fuel, think im gonna buy one. great vids, informative and not taxing in the slightest to watch.
Its a great Gen-set and it will run for a 2,000 hours more be for a top end job thats all I would do Have diesels since I was a kid and they still run like the day their were made. later great vid I Like
Hello Kevin. I have a video request. Can you please get into more details on parts of the diesel engine. I know gas and genset functionality but no experience with diesels. Showing the cooling path was the tease.... need more!
I miss the accent. I miss the people. I miss Ocracoke, Kitty Hawk, the Assateagues, the Pony runs, the National Wildlife Refuge, Duck, Corolla, etc....
Good job! The "Prepper" community is shining bright.
Thank you sir. Really looking forward to the rest of the series. Great info. Could you, if possible, go into a bit on what the hush boxes are made of as far as sound dampening material goes?
Also do you know if there are generator heads that can run a much higher rpm's?
@scarmenl Most small generators run at 3600RPMs. The faster an engine goes the shorter the life span thats why industrial gensets can go for thousands of hours between overhauls. The new generator should be good for about 12000hrs without much work. Thanks for watching..
