@InvaderZadra From what you wrote, I don't think you blew it. If he doesn't really like you and would only date you just because he knows he could, then you were smart in just wanting to be friends. Why ruin your friendship over something that wouldn't be real? You know how he is, and you love him just the same. Might take him a while, but he'll figure out the mistake he's making by not settling for you.

I've had feelings for my best friend (who's also a guy) for a long while now but when I finally plucked up enough courage to tell him how I felt, his responce was, well, "Just Be Friends." It hurt like hell for a long time but I'm okay with it now. He's always going to be special & important to me but in the end, I'd rather have him as my best friend than loose him altogether. So, you didn't blow your chance. If anything, you saved your friendship with him. :D

What hurts about the song is that the girl (Megurine Luka) singing on behalf of the guy's state (who apparently broke up with Luka) as if trying to understand the guy's feelings. That is the most hurtful thing to do - trying to put yourself in the shoes of the person who left you out of because "preferrably, let's just be friends" after all the things they've did together. It stabs you deep in the heart.
