Jealous, hmm? She is actually pretty good, considering that she has played for only 3 years.

On her intonation and her foundation, that depends entirely on her teacher. If her violin instructor believes that she is ready for a piece like Mendelssohn, then that is so.

Besides, have you seen her competition video of Mendelssohn? She has corrected her ''out of tune'' notes, and she showed much emotion.

3 years? that's problem for her to play mendelssohn. i also agree what jys1205 said. she must be very smart to memorize whole piece, however it's indeed not her piece. it's your job to handle it if you choose to play a difficult piece, no matter how young you are, perticularly the intonation!! you shouldn't play it if you cannot handle it!! i agree it's her teacher's problem, not hers.

I never had any problems at memorizing any music (sonatas, concerto movements) on violin or piano. When I only could half play it well, it was memorized without even trying. It was harder to loo into the music each time. She? yes, very sweet too.

Obviously she IS ok for this piece, as she is able to get through it. Regarding performing it in public, why not? If it is with feeling, it is always good. Technique will improve. Certainly good enough for 3 years of violin!!!! (even 6)

Ya know, sounds to me like she's far surpassed fundamentals. Honestly, if she can play a piece of this caliber with greater skill than my friend who is a junior in college can, then I see your comment as completely useless.

Yes, toward the mid-sections of this I will agree that her intonation is SLIGHTLY off, but coming from someone so young, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. I am sure she must have a proud family.
