  • They could have found a better driver and had a much better time, this guy cant even stay out of the rev limiter or shift correctly so hes definitely not driving the car to its potential.

  • @booyahbd I agree and disagree with you, those two missed gears were bad, but hitting the rev limiter doesn't mean he's a bad driver, he really a smart one it would take more time to up shift then ending up just downshifting than to hit the rev limiter and slow down at corners if he was on a straight he wouldn't of hit thee limiter because he would of shifted in time he hit the rev limiter by corners because he knew he would just slow down anyway.

  • I saw a couple of towel heads in an ACR today and it was driving towards me and i swear to god the front looked like it was going to eat me. This worried me a little as i didn't want to get eaten. But I soon felt better when i saw a 370z rear end a GTR haha. Just like in the wild, predators like the viper sometimes cause their pray to scatter and behave frantically, and occasionally make them rear end the person in front of them.

  • Nice car, and i know why he doesn't shift, he would have to shift back. I have driven a Viper and you can't rush it into gears quickly. I would love to drive this ACR.

  • He hits the rev limiter for a reason! He'd lose more time and speed shifting before a turn then he would to bang the limiter and not have to down shift during the braking zone. It's basic driving technique

  • im trying to do this in forza 3! its hard...no matter how fast i go, or how perfect i shift, or how precise my accuracy is for an apex i can only crank out a 7:51 :( anyone have any tips? and was the acr they used here modified in anyway?

  • it's a good track car alright, but it sounds like a tractor and the road version isn't much better.

    it is an engineering marvel from Dodge but i will take the offering from Corvette when I am ready. yeah the z06.

    Uh, ever driven a manual? Who'd you learn it from? Perfectly smooth shifts, are bad shifts, even when driving normally. More wear and tear on the clutch, look it up. And when driving fast.....if you are doing it proper keeping your rpms up your car in its torque/boost range.....your shifts are not gonna be soft.

  • @FinalBossWTMN No I don't drive manual but I guess you have to retrain your brain to think that Rougher shifts are better shifts?

  • @Darkstar9009 Well not TOO rough, you have to know the balance....but to do a "smooth" shift, you have to spend more time on the clutch, which is bad. Basically, anytime the clutch is not on the floor or fully released, that's time spent wearing the clutch, so the idea is to minimize that. Instances like moving very slowly, or backing up sometimes you have to ride it, but, when upshifting, you want to release pretty quickly, which will make the shift a little rough.

  • @RJCJENGO thats funny because i personally think if you have turbos on your car that means you have a pretty strong freakin engine....i bet if you put the turbos of the porsche onto that engine...the whole fucking engine will fall apart, because its not strong enough to handle the boost. 3.8L vs an 8.4L??? umm whos more efficient???and whos is stronger???

  • Wow, quite a lot of idiocy going on here. What's all that talk about cars like the Gumpert Apollo being faster than the ACR about? The Apollo comes with a pricetag of a rough 300'000 Euro. That's what, 450'000$? That's 4.5 times as much as the Viper, so what's the point of comparing them? Same's true for the Zonda F, the McLaren F1 and what ever was broght up here. The ACR dominates anything that's close to it's price range, including the Nissan GT-R. And no amount of ignorance can change that.

  • Really, people need to realize that just because a car is made by a specific brand in a specific country, doesn't mean the car will be bad. Design teams typically have several people from several countries putting things together. The new Camaro had people from Japan working on it, people in Australia, and Americans. Brand doesn't make the car, designers do, and they don't get near enough respect.

  • I've driven a GTR and it's not what I call a boring drive, it might be a boring drive to some reviewers who have driven the likes of Viper and Enzo, but for an ordinary person like me without much experience with supercars it is still pretty exciting

  • Those claim viper is king do some reseach before posting, Gumpert Apollo thrashed Viper. Many recent European supercars are have not been tested yet, like Murcielago 670 SV, Ascari, Zonda F roadster.

    Evo mag conducted test for Enzo, MC12 and Zonda F Clubsport with a motoring jounalist Marc Basseng, not professional racing driver, if you want fair comparison put the Basseng in the Viper let's see what he can do

  • If you know anything about cars, I'm talking about the Zonda F roadster which is faster than the coupe. 1000+ bhp isn't gonna make you lap faster otherwise how come Nissan GTR has beaten just almost all the supercars.   • I'm saying the lap time for Enzo and so on was done by a motoring jounalist, therefore it isn't reflective of what the car is truly capable of. And as you pointed out the Viper was taken to its full potential by a professional racing driver.   • Several time during this lap the car almost kills him. It may be a fast lap but it's a very ugly one. Also the car makes some horrendous noises including what sounds like it bottoming out. Viper may be king of nurburgring but I certainly don't love it. Also there are plenty of videos of this thing falling off a cliff that reminds us what this car is really like.

  • You'll notice that every time he bounces the rev limiter he is approaching a corner, that he would need to be in the current gear after the apex. Shifting up would actually slow him down because it would knock the car out of the top of its powerband and he would just be shifting back down to that gear after the apex of the corner. so its a waste of time. this is a beater car owned by dodge and it doesn't matter how much he tears the transmission up.

  • Thats not true. All official tests are above 7.30. It is indeed a very good and fast car, but with 1.8 tons of weight and only 480ps its not possible to beat cars like carrera gt with 612 hp and 1.3 tons. See the records i posted in my previous comments. A GTR has no chance with its weight to beat times like ~7.15

  • if you doubt 7,26 of GTR, I doubt the Viper 7.22 time. Enzo Ferrari is lighter and more powerful than Viper ACR but its time was 7.25 How can you explain that? 7.26 is proved by video... GTR is the fastest 4-seat car around the Ring. Do not forget that it is AWD, so it has a serious advantage of opening the throttle while cornering. Even Porsche representatives were invited to witness GTR doing 7.26 lap time!

  • Enzo Ferrari has electronic regulated dampers, this is why the Maserati MC12 (same chassis as enzo) with regular dampers reaches 7.20.

    I don not doubt these times. The problem is are they streetlegal? What tires, Turbo pressure, is the hp stock? etc...

    The thing is if you read the tests of a stock gtr by any major german magazine which tested on the ring, it gets times above 7.30. With this weight and hp its indeed very good.

  • Viper ACR uses factory semi-slick tires. GTR does not use semi-slick but totally road tires...

Do your research before you post comments like that. Also, this is for the most part a club racer, not a purpose built racecar.

    Watch the video for yourself, every idiot sees the difference between the actual finish line and the exit of hohenrain onto the finish-straight.

  • The timing starts exactly at 0:59 in the video at the original finish line right before the first left corner of Hatzenbach. At 8:22 they stop the lap at the exit of the Hohenrain-corner. Which is about 200 meters before the finish line. I measured it with google earth. In the video you can also see that the car takes about 10 seconds for this distance. The real time is above 7:30.

  • I live 50 kilometers near the ring and i drive there every 2 weeks. I know this track perfectly and if you watch carefully, they stop the time at different points. This is no legitimate time.

  • Lol, did you notice that they stop the time at different points? Watch that the time starts at the original finish line and is stopped about 50Meters earlier directly after the last corner. I know Zakspeed and the times very well, but a 7.22 with stock tires is unrealistic and impossible with so many shifting faults.

  • This track is in my neighborhood, so please don´t tell me about the laptimes driven there, ok. I even visited the founder of the Zakspeed team who lives 5min away from the ring. The timing in the video is not comparable to other official laptimes cause its simply not a full lap they drive. Watch the video. With non-semis it is impossible to drive this time in a viper. Period
