hey billy graham ppl... i'm having a time of doubt and curiosity atm. wondering if anyone can help me out. everyone around me is telling me i can't know that god is real. i assume jesus' followers wouldnt have died such brutal deaths for something they didnt whole-heartedly believe he was christ.

@williedunnam with all due respect, my point of view differs. why would sin pass to you from your father, and what made that a universal law? that would be like me beating my daughter because she resembled her mother. @vdiaz123 You are missing the point. It is a fallen world. The first man Adam and Eve fell. Leaving all born after with a sin nature. If you have children, it does not take long to see sin in them. Don't be mad at God but at the first man, God is good that He provided a way for salvation. You might say this is a bad plan. It was necessary so that true love could exist. If God created us with no choice even a bad choice, true love could not exist.

You can't be born into Christianity. It's a decision that everyone has to make for themselves. I was born into a Christian family, but I didn't accept Jesus as my saviour, until I was 17. I'm 18, now, and I'm a better daughter, sister, friend, etc. It's the best decision I've made in my entire life. :) The road is still rocky, but I've got the strength to overcome my problems. The fact is that God is holy which means that He has no flaws whatsoever. We because of the nature of our own free will, choose so many times the wrong path and make the wrong decisions. God has made a way for us to come to Him and eliminate the flaws or sins in our lives, through the sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross. In other words, Jesus paid for the wrongs we have made in God's eyes. Saying that we don't deserve God's love is a way of praising God for His holiness.
I'm not trying to be insulting here, I genuinely want your take on a few things I don't understand.
1. Why do you think God has no flaws at all?
2. Why did God need to torture Jesus to forgive our sins? Why not just forgive them? Also When I was born I hadn't committed any sins so how was he dying for my sins personally?
Also, God did not torture Jesus. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. There has to be a payment for the wrongs that we commit. Thats why he does not 'just' forgive them without any form of payment. Not only did God do this out of love, but he did it because he is JUST. A just God requires a payment for sin(Romans 6:23). But he is good enough to take it upon himself to pay the price!
And maybe you didnt sin at the moment you were born, but you have sinned at some point in your life. The bible says in Romans 3:23- all have sinned. He personally died for your sins so you did not have too. Thats the good news about Jesus. Let me know if you have any questions....im glad to help you.

God loves us but because of the sin's we commit, we should not deserve the mercy that God gives us. He could do anything he wants to you, but if you believe in Him, and repent; changing your life for good, he will have mercy on you for what you have did. We are not deserving of his love, but he still does. Sort of like how a father loves his child. the child rebels by smoking and drinking, the father will still love him though, no matter what. I hope this clears it up for you a little bit better

He didn't need to. The flood only needed to wipe out all the humans (which had not migrated across the land bridges to come later) and the animals in the Mesopotamian flood plain. Being good isn't hard. Don't cause harm to others. Hold the door for others. If someone wants into your lane, let them in. If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all, or at least find a polite and calm way to express your discontent. Consider other peoples feelings, even total strangers. Discourage others from causing harm. Those are just off the top of my head, there are thousands of other examples.
Jesus didn't tell me, I figured that stuff out on my own.
I'm an Agnostic but I do find it very interesting and I'm always happy to listen to anyone who presents their beliefs in an intelligent, logical and articulate way like Billy has always done,, logic tells me that there must be some sort of creator, there are many things though in the Bible that I would have to put a question mark in front of, the truth is I just don't know, however, I will continue to keep an open mind about it all.
He was certainly a "chosen vessel" for preaching the Gospel but I'm not sure if he can be described as the "greatest champion for Christ in recorded history":).

I agree. Billy Graham and Franklin Graham are great at preaching sermons. They cut to the truth about Jesus and what the Bible lays out He did for us, and this clip on change is a good example.
Did anyone happen to see Billy Graham preach this live in 1986 in Tallahassee, FL? Sounds like it was a great crusade.
The Billy Graham crusades were great. He was always able to get at what you needed in a meaningful way. He'd be preaching his sermon, and you'd be challenged, but you didn't feel put off.

I have never met a person who sincerely received Jesus Christ into their heart-and then wish that they never did.
What a wonderful feeling to have true peace and happiness in this world-even though it sometimes seems quite chaotic; and also having that assurance that you'll spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus! It's a win-win situation!
None of us are guaranteed our next breath. When you feel the tug of the Holy Spirit on your heart-welcome Him. It will change your life forever!

I have never met a person who has wished that he/she ever received Jesus Christ into their heart. God sent is only begotten Son-Jesus Christ to suffer and die for each of us. No one has ever done what Jesus has done on the cross.
But He did did it because He loves each and everyone of us. Even with all of the sins that we have committed.
These sins are washed away the day that receive Christ into our hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Eternity is forever-Jesus loves you!

No that is false prophecy, alot of false prophets say that in order for God to bless you, you have to bless them and give them all the money you have, and that is completely false. These men are not men of God, they are corrupt men who operate in the world's system of greed and deceit, and as soon as they die they're going straight to hell. How dare anyone turn God's house into a marketing system. I will never sell tapes at my church, or scam people, I'll die before I do that!

I have never met a person who has regretted giving their heart to Christ-sincerely-giving their heart to Christ.
We all come from the same beginning-non belief. I remember the first time that I heard about Jesus-I really didn't want to hear about myself being a sinner.
But I am so glad that the Holy Spirit kept speaking to my heart. Now my wife and I both personally know where we will spend eternity. And that's a burden lifted my friend!

as someone who is an avid follower of just about everything, I get very confused. I hear religious people making valid points, I hear atheists making valid points, I even hear people who believe the creator of earth, is an alien, making valid points
and I am so STUCK right now, I am not sure what to believe, It bugs me to no end. This is hard,,,and I am so clueless about everything.

He didn't need to. The flood only needed to wipe out all the humans (which had not migrated across the land bridges to come later) and the animals in the Mesopotamian flood plain. It was universal in its purpose of dealing with sin in a judgement that it killed everything in the reprobate known world. Emporer penguins had had no contact with sinful man, hence they weren't wiped out.

stop trying to think! that is the problem... we today are trying to take what God made unexplainable an make it explainable...think of it this way, do you remember those math problems in school that you thought you had correct but wasn't? and when you went to the teacher she/he showed you the flaw or miscalculation in your equation? we are trying to explain miracles with our own broken equation... but am i to say that the advancemet in science is bad, no! miracles are just that, miracle

to say a person is good means to take a scale and balance their good and bad deeds.... i personally cannot see my good deeds outweighing my bad..... God is the judge and He sees fit that we have all committed crimes punishable....Jesus came to take our punishment....those that accept Him live after life is over...thost that don't...dont live

Being good isn't hard. Don't cause harm to others. Hold the door for others. If someone wants into your lane, let them in. If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all, or at least find a polite and calm way to express your discontent. Consider other peoples feelings, even total strangers. Discourage others from causing harm. Those are just off the top of my head, there are thousands of other examples.
Jesus didn't tell me, I figured that stuff out on my own.

I'm an Agnostic but I do find it very interesting and I'm always happy to listen to anyone who presents their beliefs in an intelligent, logical and articulate way like Billy has always done,, logic tells me that there must be some sort of creator, there are many things though in the Bible that I would have to put a question mark in front of, the truth is I just don't know, however, I will continue to keep an open mind about it all.

This is Billy Graham at his best. One of the greatest champions for Christ to ever live. Jesus is the way, the life and the truth and no one comes to the Father but through him. So simple. Jesus' death on the cross was the only way God could free. Jesus was the last blood shed that made any sense and made all the Biblical Prophets words come true. He is the only Son of God who was with the Father from the beginning of time. Put your faith in Jesus and you cannot go wrong. Happy Easter to all.

Billy Graham's crusades were great. He always seemed to get at what you needed in a meaningul way. He'd be preaching his sermon, and you'd be challenged, but you never felt put off.

I agree. Billy Graham and Franklin Graham are great at preaching sermons. They cut to the truth about Jesus and what the Bible lays out He did for us, and this clip on change is a good example.
Did anyone happen to see Billy Graham preach this live in 1986 in Tallahassee, FL? Sounds like it was a great crusade.
