The Youtube downloaders only get the track at 128kbp/b because that is the max birate for a HD Youtube video, which is poor quality compared to a Lossless WAV or 320mp3, with good speakers you'll notice.

The downloaders might say 256+, but they are still only 128, you can't replace what has been lost... So proper downloads are better.

@NFUS01 That's (supposedly) no longer true. Any HD video uploaded after May 2011 should have a ~152kbps AAC audio track. Non-HD videos are unchanged: 480p and 360p are still ~128kbps AAC, and 240p is ~60kbps MP3.

Which is why it makes me a sad panda when musicians upload in 480p.

I also found a Wiki article explaining the Youtube WebM HTML 5 player that can do 192kbps, but you must be opted in and have a supported browser (It's BETA at the moment), IE9 does not support WebM, so im limited to the 152kbps on the H.264 encoding.

If you want to opt in for the HTML5 player, go to youtube(dot)com/html5 and see what work's with your browser.

If you have Chrome or Firefox, you should be able to get 192kbps on video's 720p and above...
